@Gideon360! brother you need to cutdown on the informations you supply in this thread, they kinda get people confused. you supply shortlisting dates yet we have not seen anything...you should know people are anxious to see the list, all this incorrect informations only get them more anxious and raises their hopes unnecessarily...i will advice we stick to more instructive informations, cos i doubt if anybody can predict when we are gonna be shortlisted going by the trend of this thing, of which eventually the shortlist must come out whether we worry ourselves or not. and at thesame time knowing the date for shortlisting does not add or remove from the list, it already compiled and eventually everyone will find out...
and i wanna apologise if this might wanna causes any friction between us, my intentions are honourable not to run you down. thanks...
I think it's unfair to blame Gideon given the uncertain nature of this year's SSC/DSSC recruitment. Consider the following: while preparing my mind and my patrons for an impending shortlisting, a Brig-Cmmndr told me unequivocally that this year would witness an aptitude test. Tried to confirm from somebody working in the NDA, him never hear that kind thing. Asked another junior officer, he said it would be same as previous years. Then my NDA friend tells me eventually that it's true O, there will be a test, say make I go dey prepare! Then Nairalanders coming forth with different release dates I'm assuming they must have gotten from "authoritative sources." Then, to add insult to injury, them say list dey with COAS. Shuo!

femredhead: @ cy99...I support d issue of aptitude test to be introduce on the selection procedure, dats the best....on d issue of shortlistment...there is no way for the person who is not shortlisted, participate in screening exrecise and interview to be among the final selected candidates, even if he know Field Marshal in Nigerian Army ! Just lets us continue praying to be shortlisted and successfull in screening exercise.
It appears that you misunderstood me. Paraphrased, what I said is knowing people who can pull strings will be important for "already shortlisted candidates" (ie. those who passed the test) to make it to the training camp. Not just any Tom, Dick (not my original word!) or Harry who is desirous of joining the NA.

Tens of thousand of forms sold.... Is the army dssc/ssc shortlisting base on merit or base on man know man. if its on merit, what are the criteria for the selection? Where does the applicants faith lies?
I'm glad you raised these questions. You see, one of the primary reasons for the planned introduction of aptitude tests was to ensure that only the best candidates were selected for screening, based on merit alone. This would have placed all applicants on an equal footing. Of course, as is the case worldwide, it eventually becomes a case of who you know for the final shortlisted candidates to make it to the training camp. I assume it will eventually take off next year, as has been the case with the Nigerian Navy.

femredhead: Is it true that the shortlisted names will be out on 10th of june?
So far, from history (as one poster rightly mentioned) and info from another poster, it's safe to assume the list will be released between 10th and 12th, ie. Mon to Wed. If not, then the following Monday (17th). And thanks for steering this thread in the right direction.

cyril83: it means chief never said anything concerning the aptitude test,Though i heard abt the aptitude test as well but I tot it was only assumption that needs critical deliberation, if NA is actually introducing aptitude test ( certainly not this year ). Let's put our hope to 17th of june coz i learnt if d list couldn't make it out of coas office by wednesday, dat means another names are missing out while some would replace and this may add another one week to the release. *info gathered from real source*

Bro watch and pray coz your brigade commander may want to use that as an excuse for you.
Well, I hope so 'cos I don't think I can juggle work, fitness training and test preparation within the spate of 2 weeks.

cyril83: COAS never said anything pertaining recruitment last 2 weeks oh, the speech was uttered around january and no preparation was made to conduct any test so far, anywayz chk this link if it's correspond with your story and if No, I implore you to post yur link coz i stand to be corrected, i only search for information frm the real source and share it with my Nland family, noboby is actually there......http://www.nigeriaintel.com/2013/01/29/recruitment-promotion-irregularities-rock-nigeria-army/

Well, first off, my source is not web-based. I actually got my information from a Brigade Commander here in my State; we spoke on the phone and he explained the COAS' position on the current DSSC recruitment process. Just because it wasn't reported doesn't mean it wasn't uttered. An old classmate of mine working in the NDA confirmed this (and even he didn't initially know!). He however expressed doubts as to the tests holding this year, due mostly to the fact that no known preparations have been made, and time is ticking. By the way, the links you posted do not relate to recruitment but rather refers to senior officers' promotions. Perhaps you had other web links in mind?

cyril83: I heard the shortlisted list has been transfered to the chief office for the final assessment so hopefully the list may be released nxt week....applicants with connection are just too much but 1 thing I believe is God never forsake his own children.
Chief's Office ke? Is this the same COAS who, barely 2 weeks ago, made a readjustment in the process by stipulating that aptitude tests will determine names of applicants to be shortlisted, starting from this year? Even Lt SMT hinted at this in his post. From what I gathered, the COAS wasn't too pleased with the quality of cadets who passed out recently as officers saying (I'm quoting my source now) that some of them could not even express themselves properly. Whatever the case, it won't hurt to dust up those GMAT textbooks and start doing some practice.

ovbiepa, which result are you referring to? Has there been a test I wasn't aware of? Speaking of which, can anybody confirm there's going to be a change in the recruitment process this year by way of an aptitude test to shortlist candidates for screening?

The person is wrong. Dont be afraid, be strong. Once you are shortlisted, ua gud 2go. According 2 what I heard, they will not check ur age up to the month level. They said, when u get there, u will see men of 40-45yrs. Relax, pray to God and trust him for breakthrough. It is well wt ur soul sir.
Thank you my brother. They say words are powerful, and yours just gave me the renewed strength to pursue this thing to the end.

Pls House, one very important thing. Anybody with knowledge of these things should enlighten me further: For DSSC, applicants must be between the ages of 22 and 35 as at Sept. 2013. Somebody just informed me that I don't qualify since I'll be 35 next month. I'm sure he's wrong. But then again, he might be right, considering I'll be technically over 35 by Sept. Can anybody pls enlighten me further. Thanks.

Oh, I see. Thanks.

Hello house. I need help filling my form cry. Under the Bio-Data section, am I to fill the Corps & Service Type etc. or is that segment reserved for serving army personnel? And is the section under "Other Qualifications" meant for higher institutions only. If yes, what am I supposed to enter under Qualification Dates? Date of Convocation or leave blank? Need help here guys.

Sorry, one more thing: I have both State of Origin and Local Government of Origin Certificates. In all of the Nig Army publications and instructions I've read online, the emphasis is always on "State of Origin" cert. Should I upload that instead?
