Some Imo State lawmakers have endorsed Governor Rochas Okorocha’s son-in-law, Mr. Uche Nwosu, as his successor in 2019.



The move, which is bound to ruffle feathers and attract more political fire for Okorocha, is coming at a time a lot of dust is being raised in the state over the governor’s decision to appoint his blood sister, Ogechi Ololo, as Commissioner for Happiness and Purpose Fulfilment.

The rising cases of child abuse in the society came to the fore recently when a little girl simply identified as Chiamaka, was rescued from the abusive grip of her aunt’s husband in Warri area of Delta State.



The Assistant Secretary, Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR), Israel Joe, who shared Chiamaka’s heartbreaking story on Facebook, said the minor was severally harassed and raped by the man she called ‘uncle’.

State for creating a Ministry for Happiness and Purpose Fulfillment, his sister, Ogechi Ololo (nee Okorocha), who was appointed commissioner to head the new ministry, has defended his decision.



Speaking in an interview with BBC yesterday, the new commissioner insisted that her brother did not create the ministry just because she is his sister.

“He did not create this ministry just because I am his sister”, Mrs. Ololo said.

While welcoming the position of critics to her appointment, she said with time, they will understand the purpose behind the creation of her ministry.

A former street beggar, Abdulsalam Kamaldeen Idowu, has earned the rare privilege of being honoured by the House of Representatives for seeing himself through school to become a lawyer and political science graduate.
