Damiso, na you be the real fitness winch, chai!!! You went for a run today shocked

I am not worried about December, I started my healthy eating last October and rode out the festive period! If I can do it then, I can do it now. I drank wine like crazy on Xmas day though grin

Well I praise and thank God every time for He's been very good to me and mine... I don't curse and mock people with death unless someone takes the first punch.

I however will curse anyone's generation and wish them dead if they're hell bent on defaming my person. Pronto

Good morning grin

Good evening here grin

Sis wishing people death is not necessary if we actually really believe and follow this God who we thank And attribute all our blessings to. I believe a lot in 'out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh'

I think I only know as in really know (who they are)about 5 people on NL in my life off NL .i really don't worry my head much about what the others are thinking about me.

I agree that if someone attacks you incessantly self defence is necessary. However in defending I draw the line at insulting parents/curses/wishing death.its not necessary to roll in the mud with pigs. However I acknowledge that we are different individuals.

They say turkey (white meat) is good.

I'll still keep away from sugary drinks and sweet / chocolaty stuff (I hope) sad sad But come to think of it, if we've come this far - can't we successfully conquer the December and January festive temptations?

Abi o .. I actually think it's doable. Like you said turkey is ok especially as it will be roasted. Instead of over indulging on the desserts one can allow for a few and portion control too. Instead of a large piece of cake maybe half?
And yeah sugary drinks too.
I will really try not to go overboard .

And some of you lot will be saying 'it is well' 'praise God' etc and all 'Christianese' slangs with the same heart that could curse and mock people with death.

Anyway ladies - believe it or not, I had a GRASS drink. Proper grass and I kid you not!

I missed brekkie and doing my normal morning exercises at home, so this was the alternative - opted for a plain wheat porridge (no cream, no sugar) as usual - and a green crush (apples, cucumber, kiwi, lettuce, grapes, etc). Then decided to try out the grass thingy.

You know how it's done like when you go to the pub and order a shot of whisky or something similar? So I asked for one shot of grass drink. Omo you need to see the amount of grass that girl cut into the "grasser" juicer. shocked shocked shocked Had to ask her if it was washed oh! grin grin

Anyway, even to drink the thing, see as my heart dey beat...kpom, kpom, kpom, as per "who send me?" And the smell? Gosh! It smelt very grassy! cheesy :DI eventually summoned up some dutch courage to drink it, but had to hold my nose in the process. Men see as dem dey laugh your sister. They even gave me a slice of apple to make it more bearable.

So, that's the long and short of my Thursday's experiment. It wasn't too bad sha. Afterall, they say grass is detoxifying. tongue tongue cool

Anyway, the very very dark green drink is the concentrated grass solution I had. Now it doesn't get much healthier than that, does it? grin tongue tongue

Hubby thinks me sef don become winch with the way I dey screen my meals these days. But the day I discovered that you would need to do 502 burpees (I struggle with 40 sef) to burn large fries (not adding the burger or wrap) I just dey respect myself.

Had Eba with okra this afternoon embarassed but have paid penance with a 8km run and some other exercises.my husband was shaking his head cos even my 3 yr old Eba was more than mine.

This healthy living ish is hard man. cheesy

Thank you. I'm not saying stay home and teach your kids. And like you, I am MORE exhausted staying home with Baby E daily (there is no boss on earth as absorbed and demanding as a baby. No-one is THAT cray-cray grin)

Hmm, I'm intrigued by the idea of hiring qualified teachers and home-schooling. Because for all the millions spent on school fees in this Nigeria, more than half of them are not the top performers compared to their peers when Nigeria is being judged on the International market (chances are an ex-FGC schoolkid will outperform the almighty Corona schoolkid).

I know right grin looking for ways to constantly engage and entertain a toddler or baby is the most exhausting thing everrr. Now I eat my lunch in peace and can decide not to even talk to anyone outside of work stuff for a whole day grin as I type I have answered over 50 questions today.

I was also intrigued by the suggestion as well. But I feel it's a bit more workable at primary level than at secondary school where subject areas get more streamlined and specialist.

Family / Re: I Guess This Is One Of The Reasons My Wife Must Not Be A Stay At Home Mum by damiso(f): 2:26pm On Nov 21, 2015
Why is there an inference on this thread that stay at home mum equals home schooling?

Few children are home schooled.

Onegai's point was more about the fact that a stay at home mum has more disposable time to impart further knowledge that might not be covered extensively one on one in the school curricula. There is only a percentage of stay at home parents who actually home school their children.

Not too sure about home schooling though because I feel education is not just academics but also preparing children on how to interact with others/social skills etc etc .funny enough was going to start a thread on the issue of home schooling just never came round to it. I belong to a parent and teacher educational page on FB where someone posed the question but he was talking more of hiring actual qualified teachers on a salary that would more or less be the same costs that you would pay in most Naija private schools. His argument was at Least the child would be getting one on one tutoring. I thought it was an interesting idea and something that had existed in aristocratic England i.e hiring governesses.

Like I said I have always been of the opinion that the constant comparison is not necessary. I feel both sets have different challenges and none actually have it easy especially for those who have their children as their utmost priority. I would know cos I have been both.

And contrary to what is touted on NL, I was actually more tired on some days when i was home than now when I work full time. Get rid of the stereotype ,not all stay at home moms spend all their day gossiping and getting fat. undecided

Onegai has saved me epistle on this one .i agree whole heartedly with all your posts. And you are right most Nigerian women are not stay at home mums in the true sense of it. Most of the permanent stay at home mums (with no side income etc) that I know are white women(most of them educated)Na dem full 'mummy and baby yoga' 'tumble tots' 'mum and baby coffee mornings' etc etc grin black women no dey plenty for all those things. They always used to have rota of activities and I always wondered how they had the energy. grin

Enough of all this divisive 'studies' that try to pitch one group of women against the other.

Very gansta..

But like all tough situations/enviroments I guess there are life lessons to be taken away. Life lessons that cant be learnt in books.

My dad drove me to my Uni registration for the first couple of days. He always used to say he should not have let my mum talk him into keeping me in day school as I wont lie I was very very very naïve ( almost gullible sef ) at that point.

University changed me a bit sha LOL.

I am sure it was fun.esp the whole hostel camaredrie and all. My first two nights at nysc camp am sure I must have cried seeing as i slept in a corridor on the thinnest mattress ever embarassed but by week 3 I was used to it and even having fun.

And I actually really wanted to go to boarding house as a child o. I thought they were all like St Clare's and Mallory towers my favourite Enid blyton books at the time grin
