Education / Stop Mixing Politics With ASUU Business: Fayose Warned! by dammygtnet(m): 8:21am On Apr 26, 2017

The members of Adekunle Ajasin University Branch of ASUU have cautioned the branch Chairperson, Dr. Sola Fayose against using ASUU to feather his political agenda.

The call became necessary when the branch chairperson single handedly wrote a petition against the Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko without permission from the Congress.

The petition dated 14th April which was also made available to newspapers was not discussed at the floor of the Congress. According to Dr Ologundudu who spoke on behalf of concerned members, "this is a gross violation of the tradition which ASUU is known for."

On several occasions, the Congress has been turned to campaign ground of political gladiators who are eyeing political appointment without Dr Fayose's calling them to order.

A particular professor from the chairperson's home town said on the floor of the Congress that the Vice Chancellor of the branch would be sent packing within 76 days after his party must t have won the election.

Now that election has been won, it appears the petition single handedly written by the branch chairperson is a confirmation of what his kinsman said. We have information that the Professor is lobbying to become Vice Chancellor by appointment. Should ASUU chairperson support illegality? Not at all! Sadly, this is the agenda our chairperson is pursuing.

Adekunle Ajasin University has a sad history of instability which ASUU as a reputable and responsible union should be worried about. In 2016, academic activities were shut down for almost six months.

The academic calendar that was supposed to have ended by September, 2016 was completed in February 2017. Now that all stake holders are making efforts to rectify the anomaly, the branch chairperson person is busy orchestrating the plan of himself and his paymasters.

We are also informed that he wants to be Commissioner for Science and Technology under the new government. He doesn't believe he could get the position by his own merit. This is unfortunate!

The branch chairperson has recruited young and unsuspecting lecturers who turned ASUU Congress to NURTW assembly. They sometimes shout "up National" during congress. This is not funny!

Rigorous and logical debate which is the hallmark of academic discussion has suddenly taken a flight out of the AAUA branch of ASUU.

The chairperson conducts debate by Pontiff Pilate . Serious issues like promotion, salary and earned allowance were turned to questions which are asked from already biased assemblage of hired unsuspecting lecturers.

Interrogatives like "Do you want to collect your salary?" "Are you saying we should go on strike?" are deployed to stealthily coerce the silent majority into their game plan.

The usual answer from the supposed Congress is a ready made chorus of "Yes" . This is what is processed to the National Executive Council for approval. Sometimes, the chairperson would have sent an advance decision extract to the public before calling the Congress for approval.

This antic was exposed sometime last year when few courageous members spoke convincingly on the floor of the Congress against the "Yes" method.

The decision extract they sent to the WhatsApp page was different from the decision reached on the floor of the Congress. When Dr Fayose was queried, he was clever to apologise.

Other method the chairperson uses is to use his attacking "Alsatians" to insult respectable members of the Congress who hold different opinions. These members include Prof Daramola and Prof Duyilemi among others. When the attack is going on, our chairperson usually keeps quiet.

Apart from this, Dr Fayose is found of causing disaffection among members of ASUU. For example, he openly campaigned for his kinsmen during elections into the office of the Dean to Postgraduate School and congregation representative to the University's Council.

He branded his kinsmen "ASUU candidates" whereas, there was never a time the executive or Congress met to choose a candidate. One of the branded kinsmen was an unrepentant ASUU enemy right from Ado Ekiti. Now that he shares the same ethnic background with our chairperson, he is ASUU candidate.

It is important to mention that Dr Fayose's IPP, is his younger brother from Ijare-Akure, Dr Busuyi Mekusi. He too nearly destroyed the union when he wanted to use his position as Chairperson ASUU, Adekunle Ajasin University Branch to secure political appointment from the former Governor of Ondo state.

He was the secretary of a group of professionals called CENPIP. The former Vice Chancellor, Professor Femi Mimiko was the chairman. Dr Busuyi became ASUU AAUA chairperson on 7th May,2010. He was at the same time negotiating for the position of Commissioner for Education. Professor Mimiko, an experienced ASUU leader , refused to support this inordinate ambition, as it would have spelt doom for AAUA branch of the union.

He was blackmailed and the unsuspecting Congress men were used to fight a selfish battle under the pretence of ASUU strike. Thanks to Profs. Dipo Fashina, Oloruntoba Oju, Sule Kano, Biodun Ogunyemi among others who cleverly rescued us.

We are again moving to " Golgotha ". The National President should rescue ASUU AAUA branch from foxes pretending to be noble.

Call For Probe: Stop Nepotism, Concern Lecturers Caution ASUU AAUA Chapter |PoliFocus

Reactions have been trailing the 'concocted' letter singlehandedly written and signed by the chairperson of the branch, Dr Sola Fayose to the Executive Governor of the state, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN.

In the letter which was entitled: “Dangerous dimensions/manifestations in Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko and the need for urgent intervention” was made known to the journalists on Saturday, where he called on the Governor to urgently probe the incumbent Vice Chancellor by setting up a visitation panel citing many reasons as contained in the said letter.

The letter reads in part:

“The use of Ad hoc committee to replace Academic Programme Committee. Tampering with the NUC Approved Academic Programme without recourse to the NUC BMAS which is the template for any sound and valid academic Programme in the Nigerian University.

“Suspension and recommending ASUU leadership and Congress member for termination of appointment in utter disregard to the non-victimisation clause as contained in the MoU reached for the suspension of the July – October, 2016 withdrawal of service action meant to press for the payment of several months salary and deductions.

ASUU also alleged the Vice Chancellor of flagrantly disregarding a recommendation of the last visitation panel that nobody that is above 70 years should be appointed as an employee of the Adekunle Ajasin University (even with the existence of the White Paper that has been used to sack some academics, Prof. Ajibefun, on the insistence of ASUU, said no Law stops him from appointing people above 70 years).

“Appointment of Prof. Adebayo Babatunde Aromolaran who was dismissed from Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, into the University to destabilise the fledgling Faculty of Agriculture. Prof. Aromolaran had not been involved in academic activities for almost ten years. He was working with an NGO outside the country before his appointment.

“Illegal transfer of academic staff by Management, presided over by him. His use of a Horticulturist to head the University Works and Services department when there were competent Engineers, Architects and Surveyors.

“Illegal recruitment of academic and non academic staff by the authorities of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, without following laid down procedures for employment. Procurement of ₦650 Million Science equipment that is obsolete", it ended.

One of the senior lecturers, who prefers to be anonymous opined that the above was part of the grand plan to cause confusion in the system. We never discussed the above issue on the floor of the congress.

Another lecturer who also prefer to be anonymous as well wrote:
"After reading the said letter it confirmed the rumour that Dr Sola Fayose and his co travellers are executing the grand plot of depriving professors from Ikale land or any part of Ondo South Senatorial District from superintend over AAUA.

This letter is part of the plan to turn the peaceful University to a theatre of ethnic crisis. At this point of our State life we do not need this ethnic politics of pull him down because is a southerner.
For how long are we going to continue to be playing politics with our educational development in Ondo State?

It is on record that one of Dr Fayose 's footsoldiers had on the floor of the congress said that he VC had 76 days to leave office after APC must have taken over government in Ondo State. Dr Sola Fayose who presided over the congress never restrained him.

Are we still in the Stone Age that who becomes VCs of our universities would be determined by political parties or where one hails from? Party politics and ethnicity had brought huge retrogression to our educational development and we are yet to learn a lesson from it.

The VC is apolitical academic and he should be allowed to complete his tenure for the benefits of the students of AAUA and the educational development of the State and also to avoid an avoidable crisis in the now peaceful University.

Dr Sola Fayose and his co Avengers should stop this attitude of giving a dog a bad name in order to hang it.
There must be peace in Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko", he submitted.

Also reacting, a Professor in the citadel of learning provided the following facts:
1. The VC has barely spent 2years.
2. His immediate and penultimate predecessors were from Ondo, Ileoluji and Akure.
3. Nobody ganged up against them
4. When Professor Funsho Akere was VC, there was gang up against him. He won the most friendly VC from National ASUU. Yet, this same set of people ganged up against him as he could not complete his tenure. People from Okitipupa Division as it was then kept quiet in the face of gang up against their person.
5. The same gang up against the VC is ethnic base using ethnically bias Executive of ASUU. All the issues raised in the letter to the Governor were not true. They were not discussed on the floor of the congress. There was a time when a professor from Akure, openly said on the floor of the congress that the VC had only 76 days to go.
The chairperson didn't restrain him. You can confirm this from any other contact you know in Akungba
6. If we keep quiet in the face of the gang up against someone who is very humble and not power drunk just because he is first from Okitipupa and two from FUTA, we are unwittingly submitting ourselves to the second class citizens of Ondo State.
7. There was a time when admission was a one man affairs and totally taken out of the control of academic staff and some people were making fortunes, our chairperson never complained. It is a big surprise that he could complain now that admission is taken back to academic staff who are the custodians and who ensure that it was merit driven

Another lecturer who went down memory lane reacted to the issue, said, "concerning registration fees, the student should be grateful to the VC who devised flexible mode of payment.

When Mimiko was here, there was no room for late registration. Once any student failed to register before the portal was closed, it was extra year. Even when such student wrote the exam, the exam would be cancelled. Time and money wasted for a whole year.

When the VC came on board, his attention was drawn to the wasted time, energy and money. A moderate penalty was charged for what would have led to lost of studentship and extra year.

Please, which one is better between hell fire and heaven? It's like that fellow likes hell. In addition to being student friendly, some offences that would naturally attract expulsion were reduce to expulsion for one semester or two. Someone still says he prefers darkness to light. There is God oh!"

Politics / President Buhari "Killed English" On Twitter (must Read) by dammygtnet(m): 4:45pm On Mar 02, 2016
President Muhammadu Buhari’s Personal Assistant on New Media, Bashir Ahmed started work on a wrong note by committing a legendary error.

This he made when he posted a Tweet using President Muhammadu Buhari’s verified Twitter handle @NGRPresident .

The tweet reads:

"President @MBuhari is this morning hosting Turkish President @rterdogan_ar at the Presidential Villa"
Hmmmmmmm... This happens when appointment is based on ethnicity rather than competency.

Buhari should live above board and put right people in sensitive positions. If the tweet should stay on Twitter for over four hours, it means that was the best from the writer.

If this continues, the image of the President and Nigeria at large will be dented.

Nairaland / General / 5 Reasons Why We Must #occupycbn On Its Ban On Naira-denominated Cards Abroad by dammygtnet(m): 11:32pm On Jan 09, 2016
The ban placed by Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on the usage of naira-denominated Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards abroad is nothing but an aberration and misfire to the growth of the economy.

It's odds-on that this unwelcomed dictatorship decision will have negative multiplier effects on larger percentage of the citizenry of Nigeria both within the shore and in diaspora.

Also the policy will pole-axe some gloomy businesses. This rash decision is very uncongenital to the present ICT practice.

This after-thought or should I say beer parlour decision is causing untold hardship on us.

The flimsy excuse given was not tenable, CBN management has claimed in many fora that it has little hard currencies to disburse, we should ask them don't they receive money in same hard currency

When you trade, you receive and also disburse. I don't have to be a graduate of banking and finance before I can understand that nor a banker.

Also that it encourages money laundering shouldn't have been said at all, we all know the bank that help these selfish politicians to launder money, #DasukiGate a case study.

We should not be paying for sins not committed, CBN should look inward, so as to reduce the rate at which corrupt politicians move money abroad.

All fingers are pointing to same policy makers for aiding and abetting these criminals.

The way our known activists suddenly lost their voices on this is worrisome. Where are people like Barr. Femi Falana, Barr Festus Keyamo??

If these known activists and human rights crusaders can't help, we can help ourselves by Occupying CBN [#OccupyCBN]

We should let them to know that we are stakeholders in the governance of the nation.

We should continue until this unpopular decision is rescinded cum reversed.

The reasons why you should occupy CBN are:

1. This will indeed lead to job loss

Many people are getting their daily breads using this platform. For instance, people that engage in mini importation business.

2. Students in diaspora will be affected

I was flabbergasted when President Muhammadu Buhari said in his media chat that the student presently studying abroad will be attended to, so that they will not be affected.

I then asked myself, what of those that are planning to Will the policy deprive them of the opportunity to study abroad Hmmmmmm

His response to the question made us to understand that he had little about the stupid decision then. I could read his body language.

3. Untold hardship for the adventurists cum tourists

This will no doubt be a big time discouragement for the intending tourist or adventurists.

4. Business empires will crumble

A lot of business empires will crumble. What shall it be of gain to the government of Nigeria who cannot create job but have interest in making more Nigerians jobless??

5. Online shopping now gone (shopping site outside Nigeria)

As a Nigerian, we cannot shop online any longer... What a shame!!

This present CBN governor, Emefiele is pushing us to the wall. His immediate predecessor, Emir Lamido Sanusi removed ATM withdraw charges but this man, after assuming office reintroduced N65.

We didn't shout but this beer parlour decision will not stand the test of time.

This act can be seen as being an act of a dictator. The last time I checked, Nigeria was running a democratic system of governance.

It is anti-people, intended to add salt to our injuries. Thanks to the leadership of the Senate.

But advising CBN is not enough but ordering them to reverse it should have been better.

This ignoble decision must be reversed!!!!!

#OccupyCBN

Politics / Bayelsa Elections: It Is Election, Not War - Polifocus by dammygtnet(m): 5:26pm On Jan 09, 2016
The disturbing news emanating from Southern Ijaw in connection with the supplementary election made me to put this together.

It is pathetic to see people risking their lives for political class and some even died in the process.

In every contest, there is always a winner. If this notion can be adhered to, the political tension will be a forgotten issue in Nigeria.

Read in the news about four policemen, three other people that were killed. Haba!!

After all the stakeholders meetings that were held before the election?

Where are we going in this country?

But the most irritating part is the usage of short-sighted youths are being used for this dastardly act.

Like I posited in the morning, I can take up arms in a election, provided I will be there will the candidate, wife and all his children.

That will assure me that since he gives me and his entire household equal opportunity, he means the business.

Some youths are myopic, on top how much? Money that can't even sustain you for two weeks.

Allow me to ask you this question, can you tell me the whereabouts of Seriake Dickson And Timipre Sylva' children right now

You can never know, they have been moved to a very safe place, preferably, abroad.

The next time you will see them in public will be during inauguration, so stop risking your life for these good-for-nothing beings.

Who tells you that you can't even rule the state, even Nigeria as large?

They allow you destiny to be cut short in your prime.

To our political gladiators, 'di e di e, me na ho'. You guys should take it cool, I know that you have money to throw around.

But I can assure you that your ill-gotten wealth will soon disappoint you, when the blood of the innocent that you spill rise again you.

To the INEC staffers, do your best and leave the rest. I watched a video of one partisan ad-hoc staff the other time, my advice for him is to thread with caution.

As a staff, if unplanned situation arises, the only thing needed is to write a report. Taking side is unprofessional. He even went on calling name of party.

In his words:

"APC people came here with policemen, they have carted away election materials.

I will make sure I write against them "

My question to him is that, did they come wearing APC's branded uniform?? Even if yes, it can be used to soil the party.

We have heard about robbers dropping innocent's ID card at a robbery scene just to nailed him.

Though he has been enjoying support of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ever since because he is the latest celebrity in town now.

But I pray he has substantial prove to his claim. PDP has been accusing APC of causing mayhem and vice versa.

It is a case of a yoruba axiom "Agbon n se, ikamudu n se, oju oloko wu gudugudu".

To the law enforcement agencies, please be professional in your conduct as well.

Politics / A Wake Up Call To Our Political Tyros (open Letter To All Nigerian Youths) by dammygtnet(m): 2:35pm On Jan 05, 2016
I write this short epistle to reawake we youths from our slumber, we should stop being the instruments in the hands of our politicians.

For real, I can take up a gun to fight for a politician only on one condition, he will be there with all his children, wife and all his family members with guns as well.

That will show that he is very committed to the struggle.... LOL

Can any politician do that in Nigeria? The answer is NO.

In a sane society, youths are known to the most vibrant clan but the reverse is the case in Nigeria.

Over 50% we youths that ought to be thinking or even working on how to achieve their lofty dreams are always displaying their mediocrity on social media on daily basis.

They hurl insults and counter insult on the people in the corridor or power and most annoying, on one another's tribes.

This to me is a misplaced priority. The dichotomy among the major ethnic groups in Nigeria is unwarranted and uncalled for, 2015 election has come and gone.

We should dissipate our energies on betterment of our great nation. Some of these leaders started building their political profiles at a very tender age. This will lead me to this question;

"Where did we get it wrong "

Though I'm an advocate of age limitation on social media but when you read profile of some people, you will come to term that it is not about age, but disorientation.

We should release ourselves from these hoodwinkers. The naked fact is that, we youths are at the receiving end.

Larger percentage are jobless, but we still pretend as if everything is right. We should stop being stooges in the hands of these 'wicked politicians'.

I have no apology for referring to them as wicked. The ineluctable truth is that, we are suffering. #SufferingAndSmiling.

May God bless the late Afro Beat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, he saw all these before hand.

We should be clamouring a new Nigeria that we will all be proud of. It saddens my heart when I see some posts on social media instigating violence and unrest.

The most annoying part is that, such people might be using free Mb to browse and some that even subscribed, may get the money for the subscription from their parents....  What a pathetic situation!!

I didn't write to insult anybody but wrote this based on personal experience. We can't continue to celebrate this quagmire.

These people that we rhapsodizing  for on daily basis do not feel 5% of what we are facing, yet some of us are bent on dying for them.

Most of them that are facing trials are be haunted by their past political reckless life they lived while in office, we should stop crying more than the bereaved.

The live in superfluity, yet the have-nots and downtrodden continue to wallow in abject poverty.

If you are supporting the people that are standing trials in the botched arms deal #DasukiGate blindfoldedly, please visit the IDP camps or better still Google search for some pictures of how they are living there.

I bet it with you, you will have a change of mind. There are a lot of profitable things that you can engage yourself in using social media.

Permit me to refer to two trending things on Twitter now. The #TyrantBuhari HashTag and gathering of support for Olisa Metuh, PDP’s spokesperson.

As for the #TyrantBuhari, I have zero interest in the conundrum that it is causing. To me, I see it as an adjective.

And my quack knowledge of part of speech tells me that is qualifies a noun, so if it qualifies a noun in a proper or improper manner, I don't know because I wasn't taught that one... Chuckles.

We were in this country when you Google search 'the most stupid President of Nigeria' and a former President's name will appear.

There was no Tsunamic war then. In a democratic world, there is always an opposition but it the criticisms should be constructive.

Hawkish approach should not be used in solving problems.

As par the Olisa Metuh's purported trial by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), why not allowing him to defend himself?

He has children that have benefited immensely from his political office, they can flood the internet in solidarity.

Some naive that are supporting him that he should not be investigated, some call it political witch-hunt... I have a question for you, can you tell me how much he has given you before now?  Or has he given you job when their party was in power?

If your answer to the two questions are negative, then think twice. Stop wasting your time on things that may affect you in the future.

We are all familiar with an hour signee of Barcelona that was fired just because of his tweet 2 years ago.

Let the law take its course, never preempt it.

Half a word is enough for the wise.

Thanks for taking your time to read my childish post.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: FG Recruitment... Did Anyone Know The Source Or Its Genuineness. by dammygtnet(m): 5:30pm On Jan 04, 2016
missKiffy:

Aiit

The BCs flying around on the social media on the planned massive recruitment of jobless youths is a thing of concern to me.

Ordinarily, I wouldn't have written anything on it but the unsuspecting youths may fall victims of this heinous act.

The composers of these messages are bent on taking advantage of Nigerians gullibility, but wait a minute, the world is now a global village, where you can have access to any information of your choice.

Though this position is solely mine and mine only, and I believe some will agree with me going by the empirical analysis that I will do as to the message.

Message number 1

"MASSIVE EDUCATION EMPLOYMENT

*Announcement also published in Guardian Newspaper of 30th December.

*I'm sharing as I received, pls call the no. for any questions.
God Bless Buhari
God Bless Nigeria"

The reasons why you should disregard the above message are:

1.The so-called 'firm' is anonymous.

How on earth will federal government instruct a firm to recruit for them, and the firm will prefer to be hiding it's identity.

If the identity is known, we can then Google search to ascertain the veracity of the said claim.

2. Contacts

Only email and phone numbers are placed in the so-called advertisement. I believe we have made a significant progress in ICT world, a web page can be used to capture all the applicants.

Even the botched immigration recruitment still used this venue. A toddler can sit in his room and create email within two minutes.

3. Publicity

No reputable media outfit both conventional and new media has posted or talked about it.

Though I saw it on nairaland, but the fact is that nairaland is a forum. This implies that, even the most foolish person in Nigeria can post on the platform.

4. Email address format

The format for the email address is questionable. It can't be said to be official, we are not fools in Nigeria.

5. Fake claim

As claimed in the message, no advertisement of such in Guardian Newspaper. Maybe it may be there in the nearest future.

Message number 2:

"Announcement!
Federal Government of Nigeria has directed the
Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment to start receiving CV's (Document) massively nationwide from graduates for employment in 2016. the graduates are to submit their CV's at Federal Secretariats.

The following graduate are welcome.
1.Sec. School Graduate.
2.Certificate course of any kind.
3.OND, ND, HND In any field.

5.Any other qualification is accepted excluding Msc, PhD.

Please don't forget to inform others.
Closing date 07 January- 2016
share as received"

Reasons why you should equally discard this as well:

1. Not on the Ministry's Website

When a person receives this kind of information, the last resort is the website of the ministry.

This made me to do Investigative journalism.... LOL. I visited the website of the minister, in case you want to check as well, kindly visit  www. labour .gov.ng/.

I didn't see any news relating to this on its website, even the immigration recruitment exercise that cost lives of around 20 people was not a clandestinely done.

2. Publicity

No reputable media outfit beam this as well. We should fall for this crap as well, because I can't can't forget the 'salt & water syndrome' during Ebola era that claimed many lives

Some of my friends fell for it then....chuckles

3. Period of the exercise

The period stated is too short to be doled out by the federal government. In short, no modality for this scheme for now.

It is expected to close on 7th of January (this month), even tertiary admission takes longer time.

Conclusion:

It is a general saying that there is no crime in trial but we should also not allow the e-rats to create unnecessary burden on us.

You can give it a trial but don't pay any money into it because the sole reason for this crap is to shortchange people of their hard earned money.

Or to to generate traffics to their sites by attention seeking bloggers cum site owners. We are not tyros!!!

Half a word is enough for the wise.
Have a wonderful week ahead.
