Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Amcon Interview Next Phase! by danny20101: 4:51pm On Oct 20, 2011
Hi my good people.
I just heard that first round interviews for IT related units have been going on through out this week. I know someone that was called earlier in the week. The person had actually assumed he was not successful at his HCDC interview. He said he saw other people there scheduled for different time slots as well. This was in AMCON ikoyi office.

I think this is good news for people yet to be called to meet with AMCON at all. Unfortunately, i do not have any more information.

Just to encourage you that you should not give up as the whole recruitment is far from being over.

I'm confident many nairalanders will be given offer letters. Just keep exercising patient y'all.

Cheers

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Nigeria Labour Congress To Close Down Airtel Nigeria Starting Oct 4 2011 by danny20101: 12:23pm On Oct 06, 2011
I do not work for Airtel or use airtel line.

I'm of the opinion that they are two sides to every story. To be an effective intermediary, one should be able to put his or herself in the shoes of both parties.

Its very very sad that people earning over 70k are now being asked for earn 29+k. How does one adjust his living standards downwards given this wide margin? It is very very sad.

On the other side, if you are the owner of Airtel and have the opportunity of slashing your costs by 60%, would you hold on to the high costs to please people, that is, run your business down to make people happy? That is blatantly stupidity on your part as the owner. Everyone knows the challenges plagued by businesses given the current economic terrain globally not to even consider the peculiar challenges businesses face in Nigeria. Indians or no indians.

If you must know, call center jobs in developed countries (i can speak for UK) require o-level certificates and they are paid minimum wage because the jobs do not require any form of intelligence to be carried out. (I have worked in a call center before). For this reason, the function is often outsourced to Nepal, Bangladesh, India etc where labour is very cheap. And yes, there are bsc, msc and even phd students that work in call centers in the UK.

My point: Do not be overly sentimental. If you are Airtel boss and are in the position to reduce your costs by 60% you will do the same.

Which of us who pays N75 for a product, finds out he can buy that same product for N29 elsewhere would continue buying at N75 just to make the seller happy

Hello everyone!
The house has been pretty quiet, Thanks a lot for the prayers and good wishes. I'm very grateful and wish u all the best. The new job is going great, bless God.
Amcon recruitment has been quiet this september, I haven't heard of anyone who has faced ED this month. Even those I know that couldn't make their earlier interviews are yet to be rescheduled.
I'm not sure I believe Arikibe has an offer letter, Well, if he has info n doesn't want to share, That's his own palava. After all, there are countless people that just visit the thread for whatever info they can get n don't contribute.
Its only heads of units that have been given their offer letters and amcon demands an average of 10 yrs post qualification experience for this, So its only if Arikibe says he is a head of unit.
I would advice everyone to just exercise patience while waiting, Good news is around the corner in Jesus name!
Enjoy your weekend

Thank u all so much for your kind words. I'm very grateful. May God pleasantly surprise u all when u least expect IJN.
@chazay, yes oh. I had my first test n interview in May and didn't face the AMCON panel till end of july/august. Its taking too long. But on a brighter note, HCDC has concluded first level assessment tests and interviews so its all up to AMCON to determine the rest. So any further contact anyone will be having concerning this recruitment should originate from AMCON office directly. Those that haven't faced 3 man panel should find a way of calling HCDC to find out if they should even bother about AMCON at all. Like I mentioned in an earlier post, its quite difficult to track one's status once u have had the 3 man interview with AMCON staff except to pray for divine favor.

The person I spoke to at HCDC doesn't even know when AMCON will conclude with the recruitment. From what I understand, the august deadline was for the HCDC side of the recruitment and not for giving out of employment letters.
I have tried to get information from an AMCON staff directly for someone I know, all to no avail. Na only prayer oh.
I would be very happy to hear good news about AMCON employment letters from you all.

Bettymaffy, ayandee, dre30, deloby,chazay, the financial performance mgt person n co, pls continue to keep the thread alive!

All the best to the house!

@mistamonn
I talked about banking relations role a while back. Amcon is yet to call up Banking Relations people for interviews. But if you can, you can call up HCDC or go to their office to find out if you are on their waiting list for Amcon.

@deloby, apologies, I don't have amcon intel anymore. Thank God, while waiting for this Amcon for months, God has provided a much better offer for me in terms of renumeration and career prospects so I'm very grateful to God oh. But I will let the house know if I get any relevant info cos I am supposed to be called up anytime for the final interview. Will let u know when I hear anything.
All the best to the house. May God exceed your set expectations for your life in Jesus name.
Cheers.

@ayandee
Interviews have been holding this week in abuja.(Both first level and ED).Lagos has been pretty quiet this week. People with pending interviews have been told they will be rescheduled before end of the week. That's about what I heard this week.

ayandee:

@bettymaffy i haven't met with ED. Role- Legal office unit. House, stay by your phones and return every missed call

Ayandee, this seems like good news. Well, it definitely suggests you are being considered. I will say be optimistic the job is already yours! You didn't ask for a lot of money at all for an experienced hire. From what I understand, the grad trainees should earn at least 2.5m or marginally higher than that,

The person that mentioned there is a lot of "man know man" is actually very correct. One of my interviewers kept asking me if I know people that are work for AMCON, grin Though, I think majority of the new recruits will get in majorly on merit though

I don't know what's going on with these HCDC guys but I know of someone that just wrote a technical test and was interviewed by them this week we just concluded, so guess I can say people that have not even be called up for tests at all still have hope,

Final interviews with EDs have commenced again. But then, they rarely give more than 24-48hrs notice so, ayandee is right, please stay by your phones and return every missed call!

I don't know anything about the medicals so I've decided to be silent about that. But big congrats to those that said they have been called up.

@samrose,
please put up your email address again so i can mail you directly about something I think might be of some import to you. (apologies, i no longer have it)

@chazay, apologies I've been pretty busy with other stuff wink so i haven't had time to inquire about amcon recruitment. All i've heard is from people who call me wanting more information! I would let you know if i hear anything about financial performance mgt.

At this point, its a bit tricky for anyone to get information from AMCON staff about the recruitment because there are so many interviewers involved cos of the wide range of roles AMCON is recruiting for and I won't want to give out information that's untrue,

All i heard this week is just a confirmation of ayandee's mail. Some directors are not around so final interviews are on hold for about 2 weeks. (i heard first 2 wks of august) So those waiting for final interviews should not worry too much, there's been a pause in that.

There were still 3 panel AMCON interviews on friday so I'm sure they would continue to the following weeks for those who haven't been interviewed by AMCON at all.

@banking relation guys; AMCON interviews are yet to hold at all for this category. I understand its based on demand by AMCON that HCDC forwards the names of those on pass lists for different roles.

so samrose, try not to worry and pray for the best. I dont know much about the August finish date but I was told in May the recruitment will end June ending so till it actually ends, Also, from what i understand, if you are interviewed in Lagos, you will be in lagos office.

Cheers

@bettymafy

firstly, the unit i'm interviewing for is not what i assumed it was about when i initially applied hence i wont get the specific experience I want
Then, i'm not too sure about the pay but from indications, it might not be what i expected. Its all speculations at the moment anyways. No one can give anyone the exact pay structure (not even the hcdc consultants). Its really up to the individual to convince the hr person among the 3 man panel at the first amcon interview panel you are worth a certain amount of compensation. Again, this is tricky cos there are so many equally or even more qualified people than you willing to take less pay. So if you are a bit pricey, that's the end of AMCON for the individual.

If anyone has the specifics of the pay structure, it would be good to share with the house. But the best i am aware of is its very similar to an average or above average paying bank (which even, i know sounds vague!)

There are a few personal reasons as well but its just my opinion anyways.

hey everyone,
its danny2010. I was about to post perhaps the longest mail i've ever posted and noticed my account has been banned. i have had to create another account as my prior account has been banned for reasons I have no clue about. I suspect i might have divulged info the moderators are not comfortable with so i'm gonna try to mind my business from now on,

I wish y'all the best in your pursuit for AMCON. Personally, I'm no longer as enthralled as I initially was when I started the AMCON dream and i'm actively engaging more 'closely-aligned pursuits'. (maybe cos i have gotten more information about the organization as compared to when I initially applied, though this doesn't mean I wont go for the pending interview I rescheduled whenever they call me grin)

I pray God grants us exceedingly abundantly above what we ask of Him in Jesus name.

All the best to everyone.
