BUMPS BUMPS which is known as Pseudofolliculities barbae (PFB) is a common problem for people of colour including African, Caribbean, Afro American and Hispanics. This problem is where the hair curves back into the skin due to the thick curly nature of the hair. This problem causes itching and tiny bumps that could later develop into big bumps making the problem worse and cause unsightly darkening of the skin. Research has shown that the most common cause of bumps can be attributed to the use of infected and un-sterilized blades, clippers, bad and blunt clipper blades. Generally bumps are formed through inflammation of the hair follicle caused by any of the under listed factors: Shortly after a hair cut or close shave the hair begins to grow, it curls back into the skin where it bores a hole. When this happens inflammation of the skin occurs and it could result into bumps. Bumps can also develop as a result of bacteria infection of cuts sustained during barbing or using a fake, unhygienic infected and un-sterilized blades or clippers. KELOIDS Keloids are raised overgrowth of scar tissue that can occur on spot of old injury. It sometimes occurs after surgery, vaccination piercing, blisters or skin trauma. They look harden, smooth or round shinny shape. It could be itchy and very painful. Keloids can occur in any part of the body, but commonly found on the chest, shoulder, check, chin, ear lobes, upper back and back of the neck. No one knows why keloids form. Although most persons never form keloids, others develop them after minor injuries or even after insect bites or after acne bumps resolve. Keloids may form on any part of the body, although the ears, upper chest, upper back, and shoulders are especially prone to keloid formation. Persons with darker skin form keloids more easily than those with lighter skin, although anyone can form a keloid. Keloids never turn into skin cancer. Studies have consistently demonstrated that persons of certain races are more susceptible to keloid scar formation. Individuals with darker pigmentation, black persons, and Asian persons are more likely to develop keloids. Research has shown that Keloids associated with incision or injury can grow bigger and bigger to its full potential and can occur on any part of the body including the genital area. Keloids could be genetical that is, if any member of the family has Keloids there is high risk of you having it after cuts or mason so it will be advisable to avoid cuts at all time. Keloids are very difficult to treat. There are different forms of treatment of Keloids ranging from injection to laser surgery but none of these therapy guarantee a permanent cure it always re-occurs after a certain period.
