Sports / Full-time: Swansea 2-2 Chelsea...read Full Match Highlights by DashyG: 6:01pm On Sep 11, 2016 |
DashyG: 1 min: And we’re away. Looks like Swansea are setting up in a new three-man defence, and very narrow they look too. A maverick decision to start with a brand new system against Chelsea, but it might just work. 2 mins: Jordi Amat leaves one on Diego Costa early doors, fulfilling the dreams of many angry non-Chelsea fan across the country. A barge in the back lets the big striker know he’s there. 4 mins: Ki plays today, after of course spending the summer doing military service in Korea. Fairly remarkable story that, look it up if you can. 5 mins: First shot of the day as Willian tries an effort from the right corner of the area. Needed to be a thriker of the first water to actually go in, but it warmed Fabianski’s hands rather, so that’s something. 7 mins: Ivanovic is fouled by Fer, but emphasises the point by doing one of those big splash dives like wrestlers did from the top rope. I say ‘did’ - they might still do, but being 33-years-old, I no longer watch wrestling. 8 mins: Are you finding yourself in need of schadenfreude? Are you Claudio Bravo? Here’s more on Charles Joseph John Hart’s ticklish start to life in Italy. 10 mins: Sigurdsson does well to avoid one tackle as he tries to drive through the heart of the Chelsea team, but then he comes across N’Golo Kante, so you all know how that ended. 11 mins: Low-key terrific bit of goalkeeping from Fabianski. Willian gets down the right and puts a low cross into Geoff Boycott’s corridor of uncertainty behind the defence, in front of the keeper. Fabianski not only gets out to dive full-length and stop the ball, but manages not to push it straight to the lurking Costa, as it would have been very easy indeed to do. 13 mins: I made the mistake of asking for jokes earlier, so here’s a couple. From Matt Dony: “What’s grey and doesn’t matter? An irrelaphant. I’ll get my coat.” And a little spicier, from Hugh Simpson: “‘Please leave the toilets as you’d wish to find them’ So I left a line of Charlie on the lid.” Obviously the Guardian condones neither drug taking nor poor public lavatory etiquette. 15 mins: Corner for Chelsea from the left, but it’s swung to the edge of the six yard box and provides a dictionary definition of ‘a routine catch for the goalkeeper’. 16 mins: Free-kick on the right for Swansea, and Sigurdsson fizzes it over with significant intent into the Boycott Corridor, but there’s no attacker there to take advantage of the cross. GOAL! Swansea City 0-1 Chelsea (Costa 18) 18 mins: Ivanovic puts a cross over from the right, Fernandez heads it up in the air and Fabianski starts to come out to catch it, but changes his mind. Fernandez then tries another header, but gets no distance on it, the ball finds its way to Costa on the edge of the box who fair thrikes a low shot into the corner, past a regretful Fabianski’s left hand. 20 mins: Could/should be two. The rejuvenated Eden Hazard powers through a large hole that appears on the right side of the Swansea defence, finds himself one-on-one with Fabianski but the Polish stopper makes a solid save to deny the left-footed shot. Safe to say this defensive experiment isn’t really working this time 22 mins: More danger from Hazard, who looks more lithe and much quicker than he was than in the nothingness of last season. His run sets up a shooting chance for Oscar, but his effort from outside the area is deflected wide. 23 mins: Willian lays the ball back to Kante, after Kante himself had created a chance with some relentless pressing, but the shot goes high, high, high in the friendly sky. 25 mins: Another joke here, and Phillip Wainwright has gone blue: “What’s the difference between a dilapidated public transport hub and a crab with a boob job? One’s a crusty bus station, the other’s a busty crustacean.” 26 mins: Fer is issued with the most quarrel-free yellow card of the season, after taking out Costa as the Spanish forward tries to make a break for goal. 28 mins: Very little from Swansea so far, but Fer sets up Sigurdsson for a shot very much in his zone, but it’s immediately and effectively charged down by Oscar. 31 mins: Remember when it looked like Sven Goran Eriksson might be Chelsea manager? Can you think of two managers with more different styles/touchline demeanours than him and Antonio Conte? 33 mins: Fernandez performs a textbook example of the ‘commit a foul, point at the ball’ gambit. He goes through the back of Hazard, gestures towards the football but to no avail. Doesn’t matter if you get the ball, if you had to do so through someone’s calf. 34 mins: After a brief lull, Chelsea are on the attack again. Hazard has it almost on the byline on the left, but tries an ambitious shot at Fabianski’s near-post, but the keeper gets down to save it. 35 mins: Free-kick for Chelsea out on the left, after a foul by Fer (who has been booked and will need to watch his step). Alas, for Chelsea, Willian spoons it well high and wide. 37 mins: Swansea’s sole attacking threat seems to be from Sigurdsson deliveries into the box. He tries a couple, but they’re well defended by a Chelsea side who look incredibly assured. 38 mins: Another gag, from Anonymous (by which they don’t give their name, not the set of internet scamps who keep hacking things): “How many Freudians does it take to change a lightbulb? Two. One to unscrew the bulb and one to hold the penis... Ladder! I mean ladder!” 39 mins: Swansea counter at some pace down the right, but Naughton’s low cross is cleared. Looks like the Swans are about to make a change, too. Early abandonment of the three-man defence? 40 mins: Close! The closest Swansea have come, certainly. The ball falls to Sigurdsson on the edge of the box, who sweeps a right-footed shot towards goal...and just wide. 41 mins: That Swansea change: Modou Barrow is on for Neil Taylor, so almost certainly a change of shape to come. Meanwhile, Costa is booked for going through Fer after the ball had gone. 42 mins: And there’s Costa again, on the other end of a booking as Fernandez rakes down his Achilles (fairly gently, it must be said) and Costa throws himself to the ground as if encountering a landmine. 3 mins: What a miss! There’s Costa again, always at the centre of attention, as a corner from the left finds its way to the back stick where the striker is waiting to pop the ball into a virtually unguarded net, but he somehow only gets his heel to the ball and skews it back across goal. Lawks. 45 mins: Llorente tumbles under some vague attention in the box - nothing doing from the ref, but what with the new emphasis on such things, it was probably worth a go. Two minutes of stoppage time at the end of the half. 45 mins + 2: Ivanovic looks for the Boycott Corridor again, with Costa waiting in the middle, but Fabianski comes out to snaffle the danger again. Half-time: Swansea 0-1 Chelsea Peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep. Good half of the old football, that. Chelsea look very efficient and focused, and should probably be further ahead than just the one goal. Diego Costa has scored one, missed a virtual open goal, has been booked for a spicy foul and has thoroughly pissed off the home fans. Textbook. As a little aside, Neil Taylor was not at all happy about being the one withdrawn to correct Guidolin’s initial tactical error. He was, as they say, chipping off with some gusto at his manager on the bench. AWAY FANS THROW MISSILES ONTO CHILDREN...but luckily enough they were cuddly toys, and they were invited youngsters from the Rotterdam Sophia Children’s Hospital. 46 mins: And we’re away in the second half. Who would be the least-likely player in this game to dab? Ivanovic maybe? 47 mins: Chelsea starting the half with some intent. Costa has a shot that comes to nothing, then Willian cuts in from the right, takes a cross-shot that just, just, just eludes a sliding Hazard at the back post. 49 mins: Amat goes into the book for an admittedly robust challenge, going into the back of Costa as they both go for a header. Costa writhes around on the floor like a tortoise on its back, the home crowd are less than impressed but that did actually look reasonably painful: could have been a clash of heads, and Costa is still down receiving treatment. 51 mins: Some frantic pinball in the Chelsea area, as Sigurdsson takes a shot then claims handball against someone. Not sure who.Chelsea then counter, but Costa is absolutely on his own, and does brilliantly to firstly keep hold of the thing then...erm... ‘draw a foul’ from Amat. 52 mins: Willian takes the resultant free-kick, and it takes two deflections off Swansea defenders before eventually being saved by Fabianski. 54 mins: Hazard skims a low cross into the box from the left, Costa slides in at the near-post and doesn’t quite get to it. He then has another frank exchange of views with Amat. I’d be amazed if they both avoid getting sent off. 56 mins: More in the Costa v Amat Chronicles: a relatively tame episode this time, as they have a brief and minor dispute over whether a deflected ball was a corner or a goal kick. The referee decides the former, which comes to nothing. 57 mins: And there’s Amat again, this time away from his mortal enemy: he fouls Ivanovic from behind, and is pretty lucky not to get a second booking PENALTY TO SWANSEA! A swift Swansea counter, the ball is put into the middle for Sigurdsson who gets there just in front of an advancing Courtois, who takes the midfielder down! GOAL! Swansea 1-1 Chelsea (Sigurdsson 59) Straight down the middle. 59 mins: Great game this, but I wouldn’t want to be a Chelsea player when Conte asks them to explain why on earth they find themselves level in a game they’ve been dominant in. GOAL! Swansea 2-1 Chelsea (Fer 62) Incredible! 62 mins: My days what is happening?!?!?! From absolutely nothing Swansea are ahead, as Terry squares the ball in his own half about 35 yards out, Cahill dithers, Fer nabs the ball off him and sneaks it under Fabianski. Cahill claims he was fouled, and it very much looks like he has a point. 5 mins: Huge chance for Chelsea to get straight back into it. Hazard seems to be away but almost pulls out of a challenge with Fabianski on the edge of the area, the ball falls to Costa who himself falls with Fabianski near by. Right on the edge of the area, nothing is given. 66 mins: Hazard rockets a shot in the direction of the top corner, but Fabianski makes a splendid save. This is frantic, terrific stuff. 68 mins: Chelsea need someone to bring a little calm to proceedings here. David Luiz, perhaps. 71 mins: Azpilicueta swings a cross over from the left, which Costa goes up for but Fabianski gets there first and punches the thing away. 73 mins: There’s been some smashing football this weekend, eh? Well done, football. 74 mins: Willian clips a free-kick into the box from deep in the Swansea half, Cahill can’t quite get to the ball and it falls to Oscar, but his shot is blocked. In such a fizzing game, a relatively mundane and standard passage of play. 75 mins: Hazard does splendidly to carve out a crossing chance on the right, he chips the ball into the area but Costa fouls Naughton in going up for the header at the back stick. 76 mins: Double sub for Chelsea: Cesc Fabregas comes on for Matic, while Victor Moses replaces Willian, who seems rather miffed by the whole business. 78 mins: Fabregas’s first involvement is to stab a pass forwards for Oscar, who breaks free and has a shooting chance, but he drags it just wide. 80 mins: Hazard and Moses combine on the right, the former puts a cross into the middle where Oscar is free, free as a bird near the penalty spot, but sort of snatches at his header, if that makes sense* and sends it over. *It doesn’t really. GOAL! Swansea 2-2 Chelsea (Costa 81) Hahahahaha! Him again! 81 mins: What a strike! The ball falls into the path of Ivanovic who tries a shot, it’s half-blocked and flies up in the air, then drops to Costa who performs a textbook bicycle kick and it goes in, via a deflection. He damn near took Naughton’s head off, too. Game on! 83 mins: Looking at the replay, that took a bigger deflection than it first appeared, and Costa did actually catch Naughton on his follow-through. Full-time: Swansea 2-2 Chelsea Peeeeeeeeeeeeeeep. MORE INTERESTING GIST @ www.aproko9ja.com |
Celebrities / The Stark Difference Between YBNL Leader Olamide And His Artiste Adekunle Gold by DashyG: 5:21pm On Sep 11, 2016 |
DashyG: Definitely, Olamide has been one huge inspiration to many Nigerian youths out there. His story is the type that makes you believe that almost anything is achievable if you go after it with grit and fervour. Everyone likes to hear that sort of “Started from the bottom now we here” stories. Fact remains Olamide has made the bad and outrageous the new cool. Like he and his fans will say “street ti take over“, believe me the street is pushing the boundaries. Many eulogies to Olamide. Adekunle Gold on the flip side share some similarities. He is one guy that has played a huge role in massively converting a subtle genre of music to mainstream hits. Now songs like “Aduke”, “Love Don’t Care“, “Love Me” are hits blazing the trail of Adekunle’s debut hit song “Sade“. You can’t really be wrong if u say Olamide is a father to Adekunle Gold. Though the former cannot biologically father the latter, but hence it is true in the music scene; egbon Olamide is an OG. There is a popular aphorism that purports “like father like son” mbok I beg to differ. A son will not always be like a father, difference go dey. Both artists have gone to garner enviable success and momentum in the Nigerian music industry. Albeit each took a different route. These are some observed disparities between Olamide and Adekunle Gold. Choice of Music/Genre Olamide is firstly an indigenous rapper who has only recently tilted very much to being a pop singer. Being a pop singer is like the surest way to make hits in Nigeria though. The YBNL honcho basically raps in his Yoruba dialect and perhaps sings when “the spirit leads”. Meanwhile Adekunle Gold music inclination tends to alternative, soul and R&B. Adekunle’s music oozes that softness and soul in it. His Boss Olamide is nothing like that, he is on the more pop rap side of things. I believe this contrast is one reason Olamide is not anywhere on Adekunle Gold’s debut album. Personal Branding and Image Olamide commands a gangster and street king persona. The “Konkobility” crooner epitomizes the street, razz, outrageous, taboos, and refreshingly honest in a weird way. He is about that life and he is unapologetic; Almost 2pac like. The lyrics of his songs are typical of the street and ghetto which he acknowledges as his background. There are numerous lyrics and songs in his discography that buttress his streetwise status. Adekunle Gold seems to be the most coolheaded male in YBNL. His overall package conveys simplicity and depth. Going by his musical releases you can tell Adekunle Gold is more humane. He is the YBNL lover boy no argument. Blatant Use Of Profanity and Vulgar Lyrics You can’t successfully disassociate Olamide’s lyrics from carrying debris of vulgarity. Taboos, lewdness, unrestrained exuberance are characteristics of his songs. “Mo ti mu dongoyaro, dongoyaro, dongoyaro/And monkey tail, monkey tail, monkey tail” from his “Story for the gods” song. Other songs fall comfortably in this group like “Falila Ketan”, Parental Advisory is compulsory. Adekunle Gold does not tread same paths with his boss. His lyrics are void of radio edits, and your kids can be safe with Adekunle Gold’s album. The latter seems to take more time to craft his lyrics better than his boss. Music Videos and Storyline As you would probably expect music videos from Olamide are more likely than otherwise scripted to have a party-esque kind of vibe and feel. Very enormous and flagrant displace of body skin. A lot of booty shaking by video vixens, the constant feature of the infamous “red” cup – who knows the content – and several risque behaviours. Adekunle is the story teller, this skill is elaborately captured in music videos. I am yet to see any of Adekunle Gold’s music video with a party hard demeanor. Adekunle Gold’s impact so far in the Nigerian music industry is a sign that Nigerians are gradually listening to more carefully crafted songs not just dope beats from a “wicked producer”. It signals that you can still earn enviable success by going against the norm of lousy and party type music. MORE INTERESTING GIST @ www.aproko9ja.com |

Celebrities / Female Artistes That Would Make Good Couples With Their Male Counterparts by DashyG: 4:55pm On Sep 11, 2016 |
DashyG: There are many times some of our Nigerian female music acts have left us like “Wow that was amazing” anytime they get to work with their male counterparts. This supposed “music chemistry” in a way goes beyond the recording studio, because they sure look fabulous as a couple too. And we feel there must be more to these people, but sadly they deny having anything besides their music chemistry. 1.Simi and Falz Simisola Ogunleye and Folarin Falana, both artistes better known by their stage name Simi and Falz are top on the list. These two have an amazing chemistry that goes beyond the normal music making sessions. There are things they do and we feel these folks are just beyond “good friends” like the tell us. Have you seen the June issue of Impelling Africa Magazine? It delightedly features Simi and Falz, the photo shoot of both artistes in the magazine was everything and more. You also need to see their countless selfies together or watch them both perform on stage. You will nod in approval and give an assent for them to take things to the next level. They have both done some hits songs together “Jamb Question” remix and “Soldier”. Word again has it that both are working on an EP titled “CHEMISTRY”. Is this not an obvious sign biko? 2.Chidinma and Flavour How would I make this list without this two, it would logically be tagged as inconclusive. There is so much energy and chemistry going on between petite singer Chidinma and muscular highlife singer Flavour. We first noticed this awesome synergy in Chidinma’s “Oh Baby” video, spotlight on that moment when Flavour scooped small size miss kedike from the ground. Something clicked about the whole scenario. Next point was seen in Flavour’s “Ololufe” video. We are not interested in the Yoga display in the white themed video; all we remember is that they kissed. Miss kedike can kiss her male counterparts in music videos sha. One more thing lest I forget Chidinma is now signed to Flavour’s label. Did you see the promo photos of their song “Mama”? Flavour was looking the part as an Igwe and Chidinma a submissive Lolo. SMH 3.Niyola and Banky W EME boss aka most eligible bachelor and EME first lady; what are these two waiting for? We can easily matchmake them LOL. Alas, they have both denounced any strings of romance between each other. But on the contrary the king of the “Lagos Party” and beautiful Niyola take photos in very cozy and compromising postures. The slightest truth was Banky W admitting to liking Niyola but he was locked up in the friend zone by the latter. With all romantic speculations aside, Banky and Niyola have great working relationship, dishing out lovable tracks like “Be My lover” part 2, “Love To Love You” and DJ Xclusive “Tonight”. 4.Tiwa Savage and Don Jazzy How about this pair, clears throat “ahem hum hum”. They look good together regardless of the alleged controversy surrounding the breakdown of Tiwa Savage’s marriage to Tunji Balogun. No intentions of pushing rumours, Teebillz went on a rant on IG accusing his estranged wife and mother of his son Jamil of having nookies with 2baba, Dr Sid and Don Jazzy. Back to my point, Don Jazzy and Tiwa show signs of having a healthy working relationship and mostly music chemistry. “Enimado”, “Without My Heart” “African Waist” shows how much they are comfortable working with each other. Truth be told Don Jazzy who doubles as Tiwa Savage’s Boss and producer has been keenly supportive of her efforts. Although these two keep things on a “low low”, if things ever changed between them and they got hinged. It would be lovely. Tiwa needs a strong man in her life like Don Jazzy. Just a saying…hahahaha. What do you all think? MORE INTERESTING GIST @ www.aproko9ja.com |

Crime / Father Jailed For Defiling 16-year-old Daughter (photo+video) by DashyG: 5:02pm On Sep 10, 2016 |
An Accra Circuit Court has sentenced a man to four years in prison for defiling his 16-year old daughter. According to the victim, her father (Abubakari Bediako) constantly forced her to have sex with him when her mother was away at night. She revealed this to her mother after she discovered the daughter was pregnant. The victim said she did not inform her mother for fear of being punished. After hearing this narration, the wife reported the case to the Police in November 2015. Abubakari Bediako who is a driver at Amasaman in the Greater Accra Region was immediately arrested and arraigned. After the hearing the Court presided over by Judge Ruby Quaison passed the sentence Thursday morning. Statistics available at Domestic Violence Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) of Ghana Police Service indicates that a total of 5,752 children were defiled in Ghana between 2010-2014 with 342 of the cases perpetrated by family members of the victims. The report said 1,298 cases were reported in 2014 with only eight of the victims being males. http://www.aproko9ja.com/2016/09/10/father-jailed-for-defiling-16-year-old-daughter-photovideo/ |

Celebrities / Before There Was Oprah, There Was Della Reese—america's First Black Female Talk by DashyG: 8:39am On Sep 10, 2016 |
DashyG: In the 1960s, Della Reese was a breakout star—she was incredibly popular singer, actress, and model, and became the first black woman in history to host her own talk show. Although the talk show aired almost 200 episodes in one year, almost none of the footage exists today. Reese was actually born Delloreese Patricia Early in Detroit, Michigan to her father, an African American steelworker, and her mother, a Native American who worked as a cook. Although Reese's mother had several other children, they didn't live with the family and Reese was raised like an only child. Every weekend, she and her mother would go to the movies, and Reese would watch actresses like Joan Crawford and Bette Davis on the big screen before coming home to act out their parts. From a young age, Reese was interested in show business, and got her big break around the time of her mother's death in 1949. Reese had started singing in a church gospel group at just six years old, and by the time Mahalia Jackson discovered her at age 13, she was a breakout star. Reese originally toured as a gospel artist, but she quickly transitioned into Jazz and R&B. In 1953, she signed a recording contract with Jubilee Records, and put out several hit singles that thrusted her into the public sphere. However, her singing career was just the start of what was to come—over the following years, Reese would also make a name for herself as a model, actress, and eventually, the first black female talk show host. Reese's first foray into acting came at a time when black women were just starting to become stars on hit television shows. In the early 1960s, Cicely Tyson starred in "East Side, West Side,"Nichelle Nichols appeared in "Star Trek," and by the late 1960s, Diahann Carroll was starring in "Julia"—and Reese decided to jump into acting when she noticed the shift in the industry. While the talk show was on the air, Reese welcomed guests like Marvin Gaye, Linda Ronstadt, Gladys Knight, Soupy Sales, Jacqueline Susann, and Muhammad Ali. The entire show was filmed in Los Angeles, and it was a hit from the start. In this article from Atlas Obscura, Reese is described as an "engaging, charismatic conversationalist and a mellifluous singer." On the show, Reese had a Jewish-American co-host, Sandy Baron, and each show featured two or three highly famous guests. The program was even a showcase for new talent, like a then unknown Steve Martin. The show aired for one year, and in that time RKO released 200 episodes that featured everything from singing to animal segments, just like modern talk shows. Initially, the network believed that the show would perform best in liberal coastal states, but the show ended up attracting the most viewers in Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi. For a moment, it seemed as though Reese was taking the world by storm, but it all came to an end when one network representative decided to pull the plug. In an interview with the Archive of American Television in 2008, Reese stated, "The man who was selling our show said he couldn't sell our show because my gums were black. That was his rationale—that my gums were not pink. Every time I smiled, I turned people off." The sudden end to the successful television show was quite mysterious, especially considering the fact that no full-length footage of the show exists today. Since a resurgence of recognition of Reese's legacy came about, Warner has been accused of deeming the footage less valuable due to the host's race, but some claim that almost all footage from the era was lost because of negligence. Reese's role in "Touched By An Angel" defined her career, perhaps overshadowing the fact that she had already accomplished so much as an African-American talk show host. Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, she continued to appear in movies, including "Harlem Nights" with Eddie Murphy and "Barber Shop" with Queen Latifah. Reese's last on-screen performance was in 2014, and she currently has devoted her life to her Christian New Thought Church in Inglewood, California. Although most of the footage from her show was lost, select clips can be viewed through MORE INTERESTING GIST @ www.aproko9ja.com MORE INTERESTING GIST @ www.aproko9ja.com |

Crime / Man 'robbed Bank Bec He Would Rather Be In Jail Than At Home With Nagging Wife by DashyG: 12:21pm On Sep 09, 2016 |
A man accused of robbing a bank told police he did it because he would rather go to prison than live with his wife, court documents show. Lawrence Ripple is alleged to have gone to his local bank and then handed the cashier a note demanding cash. It is claimed the 70-year-old robbed the Bank of Labor in Kansas City, Kansas, last Friday. The note he allegedly gave to the cashier read: "I have a gun, give me money". Police reports claim the cashier handed over $3,000 (£2,250) but instead of fleeing the scene, Ripple is alleged to have wandered up to seats in the bank and sat down. When a bank security guard approached him, Ripple told the guard, “I’m the guy you’re looking for.” The guard took the money from Ripple and held him until police arrived. Local paper the Kansas Star said when he was questioned later by investigators, Ripple told him that he and his wife had argued and he “no longer wanted to be in that situation,” according to the documents. “Ripple wrote out his demand note in front of his wife … and told her he’d rather be in jail than at home,” an FBI agent wrote in the affidavit filed in support of the robbery charge. The money was returned to the bank. The cause of Ripple's fight with his wife was not detailed in the court documents and no lawyer was listed for him MORE INTERESTING GIST @ www.aproko9ja.com |

Crime / Murder Of Lagos Bizwoman I Acted Under Influence Of Mysterious Force— Gateman by DashyG: 7:51am On Sep 09, 2016 |
The 22-year-old gateman, Tanko, who allegedly murdered the General Manager of a bureau-de change company at her Victoria Garden City, Ajah, Lagos, apartment last month, said he acted under the influence of a mysterious force. The remains of the 50-year-old businesswoman, Mabel Okafor, were discovered in her sitting room two days after the act, by her church members. However, her gateman, who bolted, was arrested in Bali, Taraba State, with three phones belonging to the deceased and some of her personal effects. Tanko said: “I stabbed her four times on the stomach. We had no quarrel. She called me inside and instructed me to trim the flowers. Thereafter, I started playing with the knife. “Before I knew it, I was possessed by a mysterious force. Immediately, I stood up from my room and went straight to my madam’s sitting room. She thought I wanted to inform her that someone was looking for her. I stabbed her on the stomach. “She shouted for help and asked what she had done to deserve what I was doing. I did not respond, but continued to stab her until she fell at the fourth strike. “I removed the knife and cleaned the blood on her cloth before leaving the sitting room. As I stepped outside, the man at the boys quarter came out and asked why my madam was shouting, I told him it was because she saw some cockroaches and he went back to his apartment. “I later went inside and discovered she was dead. The Corp Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi, disclosed, Thursday, that Benue State recorded over 183 road accidents within the first six months of the year, ranking it among the highest in the country. The Corp Marshall, who made this known in Makurdi at the flag off of the Ember Months Road Safety Campaign, with the theme Speed Limiting Device and Tyre Safety Sensitisation, said the development called for concern among motorists and road users in the state. Represented by Assistant Corp Marshal, Julius Agom, Oyeyemi said: “The figure places Benue State sixth in the list of states with cases of road crashes across the country. “Researches show that over 50 percent of road crashes recorded in the country were caused by speeding.” The state FRSC Sector Commander, Mr. Chidiebere Nkwonta, said the campaign would centre on educating motorists on the use of tyres, instruction of speed devices in commercial vehicles and sensitisation on road usage during the ember months. State Chairman of the NURTW, Elder John Ishom, assured of the cooperation of his members to ensure safety on the highways. visit www.aproko9ja.com for more news |
