Business / Does A Federal EIN Require The Setup Of A Business? by davidcave: 2:14pm On Aug 18, 2017
I work from home as a consultant within the medical arena. For a particular future job, I was asked to get an EIN, which has been done.

My question is this. If I now have an EIN, am I required to now set up, declare, or begin paperwork for setting up a business in my state, or may I just continue with the EIN and continue to work from home? I reside in Texas.

Thank you!

Business / How Do I Get A Business Address For My Home Based Business? by davidcave: 2:05pm On Aug 18, 2017
Someone told me that I never want to use my personal home address, my personal phone number or my personal email to ship or dropship products when I make a sale online because of the risk of hackers and indentity thieves. Was that person right and that I need a business address when I start an online business?

Business / How To Do Marketing Of Your Home Based Business? by davidcave: 10:03am On Aug 18, 2017
I worked in direct sales (before the company shut down) and utilized Facebook to build a successful business. What I didn't do, was focus on selling my business, I focused on selling myself. I spent the time networking within the groups, talking to people, getting to know them. This was the biggest key for me in recruiting, getting new hostesses and customers. Too many people are using social media to only sell their product/business and then it gets bombarded with business posts and people hide the posts and start to unfollow. Be different than everyone else and focus on selling yourself

Business / How Would You Get Clients [for An Outsourcing Business]? by davidcave: 2:13pm On Aug 17, 2017
If you look around the net you'll come across myriads of web-sites that connect people who need work with those who wish to outsource work [either because it's cheaper or they're too lazy to do it themselves]. The quality of service delivered may vary from provider to provider but most people would rather get freelancers who consistently deliver quality work.

I suppose that's why I want to get into that kind of business because I know a number of good writers who could team up with me. So, if any of you guys know something about outsourcing, how do I go about getting the first clients?

Business / Approaching A Business Broker by davidcave: 10:52am On Aug 17, 2017
I am looking into purchasing a business, preferably something turnkey that can immediately provide some cash flow. I am in my early twenties with a good job that I have had for a little over a year, but I have a bad case of the entrepreneurial bug. Everyday is a struggle. I am thinking about approaching a business broker, but I have never had any experience doing this and am a little concerned about what to expect, mainly that they may not feel that I am in a good enough financial situation. Don't get me wrong, I have a great credit score, recently purchased a home, and am very frugal, yet I don't have a huge sum of money for a downpayment. I know that I can raise the money (looking for a business in the range of $100,000-$300,000) through contacts and loans, but I am not sure if they will take me seriously.

Is my concern warranted? Thanks for everyone's advice.

Business / Start A Business by davidcave: 10:09am On Aug 17, 2017
In the past few years I have started two small businesses based at home. The first was designing and creating jewelry, tiaras and fascinators.I ended this for practical reasons. The second is a freelance writing business. I choose these based on my skills, experiences and what is was possible to do working from home. I am wondering why other people started their business in a particular area. Was your decision based on your skills and previous work experience or did other factors come into play, such as a lifelong dream to be self-employed, necessity due to the employment market or if you identified a gap in the market for a particular product or service?

Business / Incorporating A Trading Business by davidcave: 11:16am On Aug 16, 2017
I'm looking for ways to reduce my tax burden. I spend 20+ hours a week researching and developing trading systems, but the number of trades I make are fairly small - 50 a year, so I'm pretty sure I don't qualify for "trader tax status" which I've read allows a person to claim business deductions tax and to not be subjected to the $3K max carry-forward on losses but essentially requires them to be a day trader.

Can I legally set up an S-corp, trade through it even if I don't have "trader tax status", and provide myself with a salary that I can use to afford myself the benefits of being able to deduct health insurance, 401k contributions, business expenses, etc? Many other non-trading businesses use this technique. Are there any other techniques that traders who don't qualify as a trader in the eyes of the IRS have found to successfully reduce their tax burdens?

Business / What Businesses Require Less Capital by davidcave: 10:44am On Aug 16, 2017
Looking at different businesses, most require quite a large amount of capital to start with. Renting the space, buying the items you are selling or need for your service etc. If anyone has ideas of businesses which require very little capital to start, please share them with us.

Business / What Are The Best Ways To Get Finance For Your Business? by davidcave: 2:24pm On Aug 14, 2017
I am currently considering a number of options for a new business. All of these would require some level of finance. Is it better that I save up, go to an independent lender or go to my bank? I obviously want to avoid any unnecessary costs and overheads.

Business / Relocate Pin Sidebar Icon By Block Ads Icon by davidcave: 8:59am On Aug 08, 2017
Hello Guys,

Might I suggest that some Opera users (and I'm one of them) may not want to see the sidebar on desktop when it's unpinned?

Users either want the sidebar visible, or they do not, but when unpinned it remains visible at present.

I would like to suggest the "Pin Sidebar" shortcut icon might be relocated by the "Block Ads" icon, thus giving users the choice, as Opera through the many years I've used it has been all about user choice. (eg: In settings we have choices, but we have little choice with the sidebar except what to place on it).

When the sidebar is pinned it's bold, when unpinned it's dimmed. The point I'm trying to make is that it remains visible when unpinned and is at times a distraction. Moving the Pin Sidebar icon as suggested would solve this?

To clarify my suggestion, when the sidebar is not pinned, it would not be visible on the desktop? We already have user choice to toggle VPN and Block Ads icons, on/off. Would be great if Pin Sidebar could also be toggled.

Thanks

Business / Don't Autofocus Permission Request by davidcave: 8:50am On Aug 08, 2017
Hello Guys,

In recent times, more and more sites have started asking for notification permissions, many of which are visited only once and therefore don't need that permission. But when a user first navigates to these, the entire page freezes until the permission is either granted or denied. This is bad, because a) it requires an extra click when the user actually wants to immediately interact with the page itself. b) it forces a decision before the user has had a chance to interact and therefore evaluate whether the permission should be granted. c) on very large monitors (eg. 40 inch 4K), the user is not necessarily aware of the popup until looking for it, since it is positioned at the very top - they will think the page has frozen. As far as I'm aware Chrome has an implementation that pops these up from the address bar without giving them focus.

Thanks
