Hello All, kindly advice me on this;

I was called today by VFS that the SA High commission could not issue me a long term (PhD) study visa yet, because of the expiry date of my passport ( April 2018). I had found out about the new rule of study permit not exceeding passport validity after making my visa application in August...The man who spoke to me instructed that I bring a "renewed" passport within 10 working days for the visa to be issued. I thanked him but also informed him that I could only renew my passport if I have the old one as that had to be stamped as cancelled without prejudice (as I had contacted someone at the Nigerian Immigration Service). To cut the long story short..he wasnt so receptive and told me that I could withdraw my passport and start a fresh application.

Kindly advice me on what to do everyone...ill appreciate every comment.

I feel the need to post my visa time line as well as few thing I did to get my UK visa issued. I had submitted my application before seeing this thread. The thread helped calm my nerves and also got me apprehensive at the same time. I had just made a " lodgement " a few days before submitting my application at TLS Abuja. However due to previous information obtained from "the US birth" section of this website earlier in the year, I followed it up with a letter and documents to show the reason for the deposit. That been said, after reading thru the pages of the UK visa enquiries I realised so many mistakes I had made on my application particularly with respect to expenses which shot over 6000 pounds despite the supposed sponsor's account statement having a balance of around 4 million naira. I also made a few other mistakes while filling the application forms which I wouldn't want to divulge for fear of been hounded as I know very well that visa/clearance officers and border patrol officers visit this site to get updated on "naija tactics". I must also say that I was inline with most of the directions given here as I submitted so many documents it was almost like I was handing a bible over. Thanks for always helping people Justwise and Co.

Biometrics at TLS Abuja 7th November
Visa received by Ukvi 8th November at 7:33am. Very weird
Decision made 16th November.
Passport ready for collection 17th November.
Visa printed on the 16th of November.

Ansol please kindly give me the details of the hospital and doctor you used in Dallas, it would be very helpful to my wife and I
ansol:

Ok quick update on our journey so far. I travelled with my wife Jan 01, 2016. Before then, my wife's guardian prefer she stays with people where they could offer help and care since she's a first time mum and her first time in U.S. That means we would head to McKinney Texas instead of Houston Ticket we already booked. I didn't change the ticket and we agreed we would enter through Houston and then use bus to Dallas then the host would come pick us. Downtown Dallas is about 30-40mins from McKinney (I guess).

Houston POE was a breeze though wifey spent an hour just waiting to be attended to. They check her correspondence and counted her cash (went with 8k).

Then from houston we used bus to McKinney to Dallas and then host picked us. The Bus was cool mehn. Enjoyed the free WiFi too. About 4hrs 30mins or so.

She eventually got a doctor in McKinney for $2400 and Hospital for $3300. She had normally delivery and welcomed our first baby (boy) on Feb 13, 2016. So far the bill has been ok. No hidden charge. Hospital Paeditrician we paid $268 (should have been 200 but we paid 68 extra for an additional service we requested).
First visit to Paed was $100 and subsequent was $85. Doctor accepted our naija medical record we paid $68 dollars for extra test conducted.

Wifey will start document processing from Monday and should be done in 2-3weeks by my calculation.

We would like to thanks everyone for the info shared here.... God bless you all. Meanwhile I had to call Dr E office and apologise for not coming back to Houston and she gave her blessings. Sent her a mail too cos the office manager was really understanding and nice.

In all sha we are doing fine and counting down to seeing wifey and cute boy soon.

Nb: even though my wife don born... I still read up to date in this thread as if I get UME to write. I don't comment often though but I read all... everyday!

Hello everyone, my wife and I are to depart nigeria 2nd week of April and we've contacted oakbend medical centre in houston and got a fairly good package from Dr Ziwortin in terms of fees. Has anyone here ever used him? or could another doctor be recommended with an equally good package?

What good and affordable furnished and secured accommodation could one get not so far apart from intown suites for 1000 USD/per month or less?

how secured and comfortable is intown suites just incase we settle for that?

Finally we have a relative in Dallas and could stay there, Grand Praire to be precise, which would be cheaper to sustain ourselves if we live with her, but can't seem to get a hospital and doctor with similar costs as oakbend medical....

can anyone please help.
