It is an amicable separation and there was no affair involved.

The former vice-president and presidential aspirant turned Green campaigner and his Photogragher wife were high school sweethearts.

Pity huh? what do you think?.

Politics / Re: Obj Is Bad Yes, But He's Still Nigeria's Best Ever President. No Contest by daylight03: 12:20pm On May 25, 2010
Don't let your hatred of OBJ cloud your judgment,  he was BAD but which past president was better than him? Compare Nigeria in IBB and Abacha's time to the Nigeria we live in now. as for the Joker that said OBJ killed NITEL,  you don't know what you're saying because NITEL like all other government establishments in Nigeria had already been dead for decades.

So he was corrupt,  show me a Nigerian who is not corrupt. Do you think one man's corruption can ruin a country? Nigeria is like this because almost every Nigerian is corrupt.

Show me the past president that was better than OBJ and tell me what he achieved. If Nigerians are buying Fuel for 75 naira isnt it better than months long fuel scarcity as experienced during Abacha's time,  Talking about political assassinations , Did those things start with OBJ,  i remember a lot of killings went on during the Abacha era,  and what of IBB and the infamous Dele Giwa saga.

I was born and grew up in the IBB/Abacha. The poverty that was experienced then does not exist anymore. I attended a federal school and most of the teachers were suffering. Their lives changed during OBJ's time. University lecturers also had their salaries increased,  before OBJ they were wretched.

Someone talked about OBJ allowing schools to go on strike,  again weren't there strikes before OBJ? long ones for that matter. Before OBJ what did a graduate have to look forward to after school? now even though there's still unemployment things are much better.

Nobody is saying the man is a saint but given the country he had to run, he tried, better than anyone else we've had in a while.

faithin9ja:

It would appear many contributors to this thread are too young to remember Nigeria, under Gowon, Muritala, OBJ, Shagari, even Idiagbon & Buhari.

OBJ was never destined to rule Nigeria the first time or second, if not for a failed coup by Dimka, OBJ would never have ruled first time around. Muritala is hailed as a saint, why? he died young never to fully perform well or bad. What do I remember him for? sacking civil servants for turning up late for work and making families hungry without bread winners because a civil servant dropped his children at school before going to work.

OBJ first regime completed the refineries, built power stations such as Shiriroro, completed FESTAC town, built Muritala Mohammed Airport, Aminu Kano Airport, Tin Can Island, revamped Apapa Port, Lagos - Ibadan Expressway (named E1 as the first expressway in Nigeria), Trans Amadi, Ikeja, Ilupepju and other industrial estates were built during this time and much of the current dilapidated infrastructure in the country were started during his first incarnation as Head of State. OBJ regime pursued anti- apartheid policies, driving out Barclays and BP because of their trading with South Africa. His regime supported independence in Zimbabwe. Many Zimbabwe and South Africa students were giving scholarships in the then decent Nigerian Schools. So- called first generation universities flourished in OBJ term ( there was inevitable student unrest such as Ali Mungo riots)

OBJ the first African military leader to hand over to a Civilian government without bloodshed (for this he was pilloried by the South West Media, did Awolowo really think he won?)

After his first term he became an international elder statesman, a member of the Eminent Person Group (EPG) of then influential Commonwealth and was one of the first blackmen to walk on segregated beaches in South Africa at the height of apartheid.

Years later he was implicated by a paranoid Abacha of coup plotting, locked in prison, this same time his colleague from the military days Shehu Yaradua died in prison in Enugu, nobody in the mid 90's ever thought OBJ would ever come out alive let alone rule the country. At that time mis- guided young men were holding 'million man' marches in Abuja to support Abacha.

His second time, well other posters have highlighted his good and bad achievements, political manoeuvring, Odi massacres, selective punishment for corrupt officials (Tafa, etc), but then we have appointment of technocrats, cleaning up banking (Soludo did some good, if you lost money in the banks under IBB & Abacha you will know what I mean), cleared the National Debt - Ngozi Iweala, NAFDAC - Akunyili. even petrol shortage - al la stinking fuel imports by Chougari's /Abacha.

OBJ is a straight talking, no nonsense, doesn't waste his time talking big grammar to anyone, he's mostly likely a bully, he is NOT a saint, BUT given the hopeless leaders we have had since 1960 I am VERY SORRY to say he is the best leader we have ever had, as the Americans say, if this is the best I pity the rest.

Somebody please tell me which leader was better (and don't tell me that because WAI was flogging people at bus-stops this made Idiagdon a good leader, I for don't like to queue to buy Omo and other essential commodities)

Business / GTB Introduces Minimum Balance Of N1,000 by daylight03: 11:33am On Apr 01, 2010
Got a text yesterday,  I was kind of surprised and disappointed,  i mean this is GTB nowww,  a couple of days ago i was even reading this thread on nairaland praising GTB for the fact that they don't charge a lot for transactions and they don't require a minimum balance, I wonder why they felt this was necessary.
Recently the standard of their services has been dropping sha,  their customer care to be specific,  at my branch the customer care is understaffed and overstressed and it shows on their faces,

Politics / Re: Civil war not against Ndigbo — Gowon by daylight03: 3:31pm On Feb 24, 2010
I keep reading about how Igbo's have more property in Nigeria than any other ethnic group.
I have a question. Why, when it is possible for Igbo's to buy land wherever they want in the country, is it impossible to buy property in Igbo regions?

I know someone who wanted to settle in Enugu after serving there, he wanted to buy a property but was told that non Igbo cannot own land over there. This has been confirmed by other people even though I can't say I’ve seen any official declaration about this.
If we are all misinformed about the real events then maybe someone should write a book, not something biased though. There must be people out there willing to tell the real truth.

Based on what I’ve read at this stage I know the unfortunate killings of Igbo people after the first coup stemmed directly from the fact that the coup was (not without foundation) perceived to be an Igbo coup. it was carried out by mostly Igbo soldiers and resulted in an Igbo man as the head of state. The fact that one Igbo Lieutenant Colonel was also killed will never convince anyone that the coup that led to the death of Ahmadu Bello, Tafawa balewa, Ladoke Akintola, Okotie Eboh, Col Shodeinde etc. was not an Igbo coup especially when you consider the fact that Nnamdi Azikiwe was safely out of the country and Micheal Okpara was spared. That is enough to raise suspicion.

I think it would have been foolhardy to expect the North not to respond to the fact that they had much more casualties during that 'Igbo led coup' their response on July 29th was a reaction that should have been expected. How many non eastern Nigerians rejoiced at the results of the first coup? How many non eastern Nigerians were satisfied at the results? Was it the whole nation that thought that something glorious had been achieved? I don't think so, Therefore July 29th was inevitable.

Everything that happened after that was inevitable. Of course faced with the killings the Igbo seceded. Of course Nigeria would not accept the secession and of course there was war. The Igbo’s were not prepared, so they lost. The Igbo are not rich in agriculture, so they starved and their children died. The object of a war is to win it and that is what the Nigerian soldiers were doing. Soldiers are brutal, the fact that they kill, maim and destroy has nothing to do with their tribe, I’m sure presently in Nigeria Igbo police men are as brutal as those from any other tribe. It’s very unfortunate that the Igbo’s suffered so much during the war but what can be done about that now.
Fashion / I Want To Change My Wardrobe: by daylight03: 4:57pm On Feb 05, 2010
I'm thinking of changing my wardrobe, I work in construction so i'm interested in looking serviceable but still snazzy.

I'm thinking more of kristen bell's kind of dressing in 'when in Rome' shirts, waist coats and kitten heels, shoes with comfy kinds of heels, great pants and skirts too.

I really dont like markets though if i knew a place where i'd get a large percent of what i want without wasting too much time, or doing too much legwork,, i'll be fine,

Any recommendations? Shops, none too pricey Boutiques, I really need to look good this year.

Oh! and i'm in Lagos, so,

Poems For Review / First Time Loving: by daylight03: 4:38pm On Jan 20, 2010
I have always loved a full moon. There is nothing on earth that compares to a night illuminated by the soft yet intense glow of a full moon. Ordinariness becomes mystery. The silver light magically transforms every thing until every corner looks like an adventure about to happen.

There is a full moon tonight. I am standing in a hotel balcony looking up at t. the silver glow shows a sleepy city, dusty streets look bright and promising. The few people left wandering the streets look like exotic shadows.

There is soft music in the air. I wonder where it’s coming from. A slight breeze, cool and dry, blows gently; it ruffles my hair, caresses my skin and moulds the white silk of my nightgown to my slender body. I feel like a goddess, a moon goddess, exotic, beautiful and privy to the secrets of the night.

From far off there is a faint chant, a call to prayer. In the distance I can see the minarets of a famous mosque hundreds of years old. I want to go inside it and trace my fingers over the Arabic script I know covers the walls but I doubt that I will be allowed.

The breeze caresses me again and I shiver in anticipation. My finger tips tingle. Hey have been tingling all day. I wonder how long it will take before he comes and as I think about what will happen after my whole body shivers again in anticipation.

I hear steps outside the door and as I turn towards it, it opens and there he is, tall and handsome. He is still wearing the slacks and short sleeves he wore earlier when we went to the dining room to eat grapes. He looks magnificent as always. Whenever I see him I can’t help but admire this man who I love and who by some divine favour is also in love with me.

I go and hug him, I always do that. I like touching him, I like being held close to his warm strong body. I like being enveloped in the scent of his skin. I feel his arms enfold me and I think about the fact that tonight I am going to be as physically close to him as it is for two people to be and I sigh happily.

“What have you been doing” he asks. He is smiling down at me and has that teasing glint in his eyes.

“Nothing” I say. I am suddenly shy. I want to be sultry and seductive but I can’t help feeling like the inexperienced virgin I really am.

He leaves me and goes to the dressing table. He removes the things I is pocket, one by one, his wallet, cardholder, phone “you wouldn’t believe what the manager said to me” he says.

“What” I ask as he removes his watch. I once read that watching a man remove is watch before sex is a tender turn on for women. I go to the bed and continue watching him.

“He said that you, my dear, are a treasure and that treasures like you are elusive, he advised me never to let you get away”

By now he is unbuttoning his shirt, I can’t believe how shy I am, and it’s not like I’ve never seen him shirtless before. I can’t meet his eyes, I can’t look at his lips and when he pulls off the shirt and walks towards me my heart starts to race so much I think it mayfly out of my chest.

He sits beside me on the bed and runs a hand through my hair “so, what do I have to do to make sure you don’t try to get away”

“I don’t now” I manage with a shaky breath, the butterflies in my stomach are fluttering madly and I know that if this continues in the next few minutes I will faint.

His hand moves down over my shoulder and down my arm, then he pulls me close in a little hug. My heart is still racing and I’m sure he can feel it. He draws me closer until our faces are so close and then he kisses me.

Warmth and tenderness, I can’t help it. I want more. My hands start t move, tentatively up his arms, his shoulders, his chest his back. His tongue probes my mouth as the kiss deepens, his hands are on my thighs, he lifts my nightgown up until I have to shift and lift my arms so he can pull it over my head.

I’m naked underneath I hear his sudden intake of breath, he is looking at me as if I’m the most beautiful thing he has ever seen, he looks entranced, I want to smile, so I do.

He pushes me gently until I am lying on the bed then he removes his trousers, through his boxers I can see the rigid line on his erection. He lies on the bed beside me and traces a finger across my collar bone down towards my bosoms.

“How do you feel” he asks.

“Good” I nod.

He moves his hand down over my stomach and stops, I breath deeply he leans over me and kisses me again, then starts to move downwards, my chin, my neck and then I feel his hands cover my bosoms, I sigh deeply, I have been waiting for this, I think, all my life.

His lips continue their slow trail of kisses over my skin, until he covers my unmentionable with his mouth. I react in shock but he doesn’t stop Oh God, oh sweet God! My stomach feels heavy, between my thighs I can feel my body moving of its own accord. My hands are around his neck pulling him closer.

He moves to my other bosom, his head moves and he uses his tongue so gently, I feel I may die any minute.

He moves until he is lying between my legs. The boxers have come off and I can feel how hard he is against my thigh. His free hand moves over my stomach, my thighs and then starts to probe the very centre of my being.

I lose power over my body. I can only moan helplessly as he turns my blood to liquid pleasure, surely this must be heaven or somewhere close, I cant see anymore, I cant breath, my brain is about to explode and then it does into a hundred million pieces. Oh God!

When I focus again he is smiling. I smile back, I feel like a woman, but I know this is not all. I want more so I pull his head down and kiss him. As he moves I spread my legs a little wider.

“Ready? He asks

I nod

The pressure is slight at first, he is being careful, I pull him closer, he moans and enters further, the pressure mounts and I start to feel a slight discomfort, he is looking into my eyes, I nod to encourage him, he seems to be finding it difficult to hold back and he plunges right in.

“Oh!” I exclaim. It is damn painful.

“Are you all right?”

“Hmm mmn” I nod.

He starts to move, the pain starts to fade and is replaced by pleasure, slight pressure which starts to mount until all my senses are concentrated in that place, my life depends on his thrusting. It can’t be happening again so soon, but it is and it does. The earth shatters for me, I scream, he groans and then the room is silent except for the short gasps coming from the both of us.

“I love you” I say.

“I love you” he replies.

Our bodies are slick with sweat, the cool night air cools our bodies rapidly and soon we are breathing normally. Through the window I can see the moon still full and white as it was an hour ago. It’s not the same moon though, nothing is the same. The whole world has changed, nothing is the same. I’m a woman now.

Being sexually active is not the same as being promiscuous. Besides who are you to judge other people? Because you have a hymen?

I laugh in Swahili!! cheesy cheesy cheesy

I'm not judging any body, Like I said its a free world, I believe people should be free to either have or not have sex since its a personal choice, I dont think anybody has the right to judge me for not doing it, and i wouldnt judge anyone for having sex either,

PS I agree that being sexually active is not the same thing as being promiscous, when i said i had promiscous friends i wasnt including all my sexually active friends in that group, ok.

, I'm in my early twenties and i'm a virgin, its one of the things i'm most proud of in my life, I'm beautiful and i'm sexy, and I am looking forward to having sex, when i get married.

Theres nothing wrong with keeping urself and theres nothing strange about it too, (except with guys, theres something not quite right about a thirty year old guy virgin), smiley

Anyway, tho i have promiscous friends I also know many girls like me, who know you dont have to be like everybody else who is doing it, as long as you believe in keeping it, KEEP IT, its a free world after all.
Politics / Re: Shell Plans $5 Billion Sale Of Oil Fields In Nigeria by daylight03: 8:35am On Dec 22, 2009
,

Is there any government operated institution in this country right now that is being run efficiently

I just wondered,

Oil companies are here for the money, there is no reason why they should give a Fu ck about us,

But our govt doesnt gove a fu ck about us either, and lets face it, we've harmed ourselves worse than shell and the rest have ever harmed us,

Niger Delta isnt in its present condition because of the foreign companies, its like that because of the greed of our leaders, our government and our traditional rulers, So dont blame it all on the west. I can assure you that as soon as the govt gets control of those assets, the people in govt will try to transfer either the assets themselves or the profits to their private accounts, this is Nigeria after all.

I'm sick of people painting the west as evil, every place in the worls today was colonised at some point and not necessarily by the west, the slave trade would never have been possible if not that our leaders were in it too. (Jaja of Opobo was a slave trader did you know that?) , our problem is corruption and until that stops getting assets back from foreign companies is just another turn in the circle we're constantly navigating.

I'm really sick of living with people. I'm thinking it may be possible to find something like this so i can take charge of my life, I'd be very glad if anyone can point me in the right direction.
Romance / Re: Can A Wealthy Man Ever Find True Love? by daylight03: 10:47am On Dec 17, 2009
Interesting,

Yes a wealthy man can find true love. If he realises that he shouldnt just be looking for someone who loves him truly, he should also love the person truly. Guys always complain about how girls only go for the money. But most guys when given a choice of a wonderful girl with a good sense of humour, intelligent, lively and truly in love with them, and a very pretty girl who likes them only for their money, will choose the pretty one so they can show off to their friends.

For girls its easy to fall in love with a rich guy, even if money isnt your initial concern. this is because its soo easy for them to make you feel special because they can afford it.

most guys especially those who are not well off, dont understand how important it is to make a girl feel loved. Most girls realise that a card from an ordinary guy who shows you true love is worth more than a car from a rich guy who can afford more. but if the poor guy doesnt even bother to give the card, then you're better off with the rich one aren't you.

PS its not only rich guys who are finding it hard to find love, there is something genetically wrong with our generation, we just dont fall in love. I've wanted to fall in love all my life, hasnt happened. hasnt happened to many people i know either, maybe we're too selfish or working too hard. but love is being very elusive these days.
