the only sad thing is the CIV - Mali game that shld have been a match to watch will now become a mere formalty . . . each team trying to save their energy for the next round.

God help us if Benin does not even pick 3 points against us.

Sani Lulu and co must go!

Mikel is not a creative midfielder agreed, but neither are Seidu Keita, Sissoko and Diarra. They are intelligent players who know how to keep the ball and win tackles. We've long been decieved by the presence of Austin Okocha, players like him appear once in a lifetime.
Sports / Re: Ghana 2008 Match: Nigeria Vs Mali by DD5: 10:33pm On Jan 25, 2008
Things to learn from this game - 1. Berti Vogts should be sacked, we would have been no worse with Eguavoen in charge.
2. Mikel Obi is the future of our midfield, we need to find 2-3 more players like him and we would be ready to challenge again.
3. We no longer have an attack that would scare Togo.
4. When last did we play wingers? When Finidi George retired?
5. Yakubu who?
6. Is Makinwa a Nigerian? I thot he was a Malian defender.
7. Odemwingie is over-rated.

And to think we crucified the team of 2002!  shocked

save your scarce tears my brother. The last time i cried for a Nigerian team was the team that lost 1-2 to Italy at USA 94. That team would have ripped Mali to shreds and put at least 5 goals past them.

when was the last time i watched a Nigerian team so utterly bereft of ideas in front of goal? 1994 - 2000, people like Yakubu would be lucky to make the bench.
Sports / Re: Ghana 2008 Match: Nigeria Vs Mali by DD5: 10:23pm On Jan 25, 2008
good game by Mikel, Danny Shittu, Obi Nwaneri . . . pls Vogts should be sacked for taking off Martins instead of that waste of space called Yakubu.

Pls Everton you can have him back.

I will say though that you're onto something when you say it's in the old covenant and we're not bound to it else we'd have to do every other single old school commandment as well.

i dont quite agree that we are no longer bound by the laws of the old testament . . . else we wont be bound by the 10 commandments either.

Everything else you said in ur second paragraph i agree with 110%.

Did you also know that wearing earings for males was a mark of a servant in the old testament?

olabowale:

Tell me from the Old testament, the 'Torah' and the sabuur or from the New testament, the 'Bible/Good News,' the geneology of say, Abraham for just 10 generations, before him, Moses/Aaron, his brother, for 10 generations, or just chose your own poison, any prophet from your book after Moses will do the justice for me,

sure, just as soon as you detail the genealogy of mohammad. I've been asking for weeks now and u are yet to oblige.

olabowale:

if you can detail his geneology as you did with Jesus (a questionable geneology, at best because of your attachment of his bloodline to Joseph the capenter, who if ever related to him, will be at best by marriage, being his stepfather;

The book of Luke chapter 3 carries the genealogy of Jesus Christ through the line of Mary.

olabowale:

the Muslims do not accept that Mary had sexual relationship with any man, before or after the birth of her only child, Jesus son of VIRGIN Mary.

the same muslims find it difficult to accept that a "man" who was born WITHOUT the natural process of intercourse cannot be just an ordinary man afterall like the rest of us. See confusion.

olabowale:

Unfortunately, you christians says that your father god covered her/as to overshadowed her, which is the way the pregnancy occurred 'this is from your religious book, I have nothing to do with it,'

the bible said no such thing neither do christians peddle that piece of garbage. It is purely ur own dishonest invention.

olabowale:

Jesus geneology at best is doubtful. Lets leave that alone for a moment. If there was no confusion and doubt of miracle of the pregnancy of Mary, in the minds of the Children of israel, the so called jews, there will not be an attempt to explain any geneology, whatsoever. I asked you people, the Christians to explain the the escape route of 'hoodini Mary,' how she was able to keep her hide, when the pregnancy could not be under rap because it had become a 'big tummy,' and upon the fatherless child was born? We know that the Children of Israel or the Jews dragged a poor single woman to Jesus for justice when she has sex, which is just the action that begins the woman/man relationship that can lead to pregnancy! How did Mary find an escape route from at least some group dragging her up to Zachariah who would be the person to carry out any 'Justice,' from the Torah of any PREGNANCY outside marriage?

i have just one thing to say to the confused garble above: Zachariah was the father of John the Baptist . . . he was also the wife to Elizabeth, Mary's cousin. It is not possible that anyone would have dragged Mary to Zachariah because His own wife Elizabeth was visited of the angel of the Lord to announce the birth of Christ through Mary.

olabowale:

Muhammad (as) geneology purity was never in question, by the Makkans.

all we ask is that you produce this genealogy "that was never in question".

@ bioye, part of Fed's era of dominance was psychological . . . most players already felt defeated long before they arrived on court. Now every player knows that Fed is beatable. The list of players who can now beat him is growing daily . . . if he wins 2 more slams he'd be very lucky.

I had some funny ideas in my head as a little boy - i believed that if i never disvirgined a girl, i'd marry a virgin (funny right? well i guess someone put that in my head to tryto make me a good boy), but then it stuck- i avoided virgins (i had more than 3 opportunities to take virginities but i ran away) - i was having sex with already deflowerd girls though

Now i have a girl i might consider marrying who's alraedy deflowered - i don't want to leave her because of this but i often feel cheated. will disvirgining another girl remove this feeling?

u're being selfish . . . u want to have the liberty to continue sleeping around then turn around and marry a fresh flower?
Religion / Re: Scientific Miracles Of The Glorious Quran by DD5: 12:46pm On Jan 25, 2008
ismailys:

"Day (yawm)" is repeated 365(exactly the number of DAYS that make up a YEAR) times in singular form, while its plural and dual forms "days (ayyam and yawmayn)" together are repeated 30 times.

how does the quran account for a leap yr?

ismailys:

The number of repetitions of the words "plant" and "tree" is the same: 26(each)

based on this "miracle" a plant = tree? So an egusi shrub is the same thing as a baobab tree?

ismailys:

The word "satan" (shaitan) is used in the Qur'an 88 times, as is the word "angels" (malaika).

thus by a "miracle" . . . satan = angels.

ismailys:

The words "paradise" and "hell" are each repeated 77 times

by another divine "miracle" heaven = hell.

ismailys:

The words "wine" (khamr) and "intoxication" (saqara) are repeated in the Qur'an the same number of times: 6

even though wine and intoxication is frowned upon by the quran . . . still by a miracle . . . wine = intoxication/drunkeness.

ismailys:

Sun" (shams) and "light" (nur) both appear 33 times in the Qur'an
In counting the word "light" only the simple forms of the word were included

thus by a miracle . . . sun = light.

ismailys:

EVEN MORE AMAZING, IS THIS,

The word "land" appears 13 times in the Qur'an and the word "sea" 32 times, giving a total of 45 references. If we divide that number by that of the number of references to the land we arrive at the figure 28.888888888889%. The number of total references to land and sea, 45, divided by the number of references to the sea in the Qur'an, 32, is 71.111111111111%. Extraordinarily, these figures represent the exact proportions of land and sea on the Earth today.238

wait oh mr "miracle" . . . 45/13 = 3.462
45/32 = 1.406

But hey audacious bet . . . Tsonga to win in 4 sets!

This is clearly the end of an era!!! This is the last yr for Fedex to win a grandslam, after this it will be downhill from here. First Nadal on clay, Nalbandian, Tipsarevic, Novac . . . the fear of Federer is gradually disappearing. Others will take courage from this game and feel Fed can now be beaten.

Goodbye Fed . . . u certainly gave us 4 most memorable yrs of unforgettable Tennis. . . your name is already etched in gold in Tennis hall of fame. Clay (FO) will certainly go to Nadal, grass (Wimbledon) will also go to Nadal, Djokovic will pick the US open.

@ samsonola . . . of course John 5:30 does not appeal to islamic reasoning . . . the moment it does all the dishonest foundations of islam come crashing down.

Like has been reiterated on these boards time and again . . . it is not enough to build a doctrine on one single verse of the bible . . . everything must be looked at in context of other scriptures. Indeed you are not the only one to whom John 5:30 did not appeal to reason, it certainly did not appeal to Phillip's reasoning . . . just read his lips . . . John 14:8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.

However . . . Christ had a fantastic answer for him . . . John 14: 9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

That shld put your "questions" to rest brother samsononla.

SIGNS OF THE LAST DAY 1400 years ago!!!

Really? where are these mentioned in the quran?

babs787:

* The Jews will gather again to live in Bilad Canaan; ( Israel )

why then are the "palestinians" fighting the jews? did they not read this "prophecy"?

babs787:

* Very tall buildings will be built; (sky scrappers)

the tower of babel, the pyramids in Egypt . . . . where all tall buildings built long before this "prophecy" was given. Certainly the "last days" are not 6000 yrs old.

babs787:

* The disappearance of knowledge and the appearance of ignorance, with much killing;

while the above is very clearly false, the bible correctly states that in the last days knowledge shall increase. There has been no time in history that has witnessed an explosion in scientific knowledge such as ours.

babs787:

* Adultery will become widespread, and the drinking of wine will become common;

adultery has been widespread long before mohammed was born. It must have been an issue for it to have been included in the 10 commandments more than 4000yrs ago. Certainly it is not a sign of the end times.
Wine drinking has not become common . . . they have been drinking wine since the days of Noah . . .

babs787:

* People will begin to believe in the stars and reject AL QADAR (THE DIVINE DECREE OF DESTINY);

The bible indicates that star worship had been going on thousands of yrs before mohammed allegedly made this "prophecy". See - And when you look up to the sky and see the sun, the moon and the stars--all the heavenly array--do not be enticed into bowing down to them and worshiping things the LORD your God has apportioned to all the nations under heaven. (Deuteronomy 4:19)

babs787:

* Two large groups of people will fight one another, and there will be many casualties; they will both be following the same religion (World War II?);

this is very vague and it is dishonest to forcefully make it say what it does not say. It clearly was not refering to world war II, it could have refered to world war I, it could have refered to the US civil war, it could have refered to just about any war.

babs787:

* Time will pass quickly;

how?

babs787:

* Afflictions will appear;

there were afflictions before mohammed was born.

Seriously i choose to stop here . . . there are far too many discrepancies in this so-called "prophecies" that it would be mere folly to point out the rest.

One question though . . . what is the difference between Jesus (of the quran) and the mahdi?
Islam for Muslims / Re: Muslims: What Did You Learn In Islam Recently? by DD5: 9:47am On Jan 25, 2008
babs787:

* The appearance of Ya'juj and Ma'juj (biblical Gog and Magog);

false! The biblical gog and magog does not refer to individuals but to the rise of two sinister nations who will make war against Isreal . . . Russia and most probably China.
