Travel / Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Dedzstar789: 12:19am On Mar 25, 2022
Hey guys!

Any tips on getting dates for new applications not under interview waiver? My last US visa is over 2 years expired and I can’t seem to find any dates beyond December 2023

Hello guys.

I was recently refused a study visa due to purpose of visit and home ties. Now I want to apply for a visit visa. I have a German citizen who is ready to send me invitation. I am not related to her. We met online and became tight friends and she wants me to visit her. In-fact she was the one that got me the admission which the study was refused. Any chances for me and how do I go about it?

If I was a VISA officer, I would probably deny you right now because it seems like you’re just trying to get into Canada. I’d suggest you tidy up your application, apply for GCMS notes to understand why your study permit was denied. Show strong enough ties to Nigeria and that you will head back home and find a way to show legitimacy in your relationship with the person inviting you.

hello house, my entire family has just been denied a visit visa based on travel history and purpose of visit. the hotel reservation we did expired June 5th and we were denied June 19th. is it possible we book a new hotel reservation and reply them with it as a mail (not reapply). is this possible? and does anyone know how this can be done?

Highly doubt that will do anything. You’re going to have to reapply and show stronger ties. Maybe travel to other places first but rebooking your hotel won’t make them change their minds.

One major reason people get denied on finances is because you are expected to have about $1000 for every week you plan to stay in canada. This is especially for people who apply using hotel reservations. So if you’re coming for two weeks, make sure your account has an excess of the equivalent $2000 plus accommodation money as well as air fare plus extra for when you come back.

Financial status and personal assets..
Purpose of visit..
No sure I would leave after my stay...

My application : visitor's Visa
Applied with mum's statement of account with about 4.7m
Invitation letter from my husband relative..
Have 3 kids attached birth cert each
Doc's report referring my case
Purpose ..medical treatment
Added letter of explanation
Land docs
Doc showing am undergoing a master's program
Husband's employment letter...
Am a lawyer..
Length of stay ...4months

What else should I do Should I apply again? How can I prove that I would return back to Nigeria..
Plz need your advise

First mistake. Your mum’s statement of account. Canada frowns on adults sponsoring other adults especially when it’s not your spouse. I was advised by someone who works at the Canadian embassy about this after my first denial when I used my dad’a account. My mum and I applied together and she was approved while mine wasn’t.

please good people of nairaland,I'm also interested in this journey.
How do i start?
somebody please help an agent is requesting for 1.5m to help me out.but with this thread i have seen, no more agent

1.5M for what? I applied myself and eventually got a TRV. Read the thread and ask questions when you’re confused. It’s not hard. Just read and get your documents in order. The use of an agent doesn’t guarantee a successful application. Imagine paying 1.5 only to be denied?

Like I said. Read, ask questions whenever you get confused and you’ll be fine.

I agree, it all depends on the type of visa application made.

Why i said so before is because 2 different persons I know applied on the 11th April and both got their decision on the 17th May.

Just a visit visa

Okay. It varies. I reapplied in March and got a decision in 3 weeks. My friend applied a week after I did and till today hasn’t received a response.

Hello house. I submitted my TRv application on the 11th of march and i am still waiting for an update. My international passport expires in november, it was 8months left to expire as at when i applied for the visa. Do you think the short lenght of my passport to expire will be a barrier to my application?

I’d advise you send an email asking for an update as the normal processing times have definitely elapsed.

Not all April applicants have received decisions. Lots of March applicants are still awaiting decisions as well.

Long Post Alert! Please excuse any grammatical errors.

I promised that I was going to tell you guys my story but decided to wait until I got into Canada! Because the way bad belle is set up ehn.. my testimony had to have been complete before I posted my story. Before I start, I must say mine is a story of grace and never giving up and knowing God almighty has my back and trusting in my faith. I have to say this because God is the only person that made this happen for me.

Anyways, from my last post you will see that I have what many call a great profile. I’ve been travelling abroad since I was inside my mother’s womb and am currently on my 6th or 7th passport. I have previous visas from major first world countries - The UK, US, Schegen territories and even went to boarding school in Canada. I have two degrees both of which were gotten from the UK. I’ve been to plenty countries including the UAE, South Africa, Jamaica, The Bahamas, Ukraine, Turkey, France, The Netherlands, Italy etc. I have my own business that’s doing okay (okay because na buhari economy we dey) and I have very capable sponsors as parents! My mum’s passport is a world map and my Father’s bank statements can carry me anywhere. So imagine my surprise that in February 2019 when I applied to visit Canada alongside my mum, I was denied based on financial assets and family ties in and out of Canada while my mum’s visa was granted. I was shocked to my bone marrow but my mum contacted someone who works at the Canadian high commission Lagos and he then explained that the mistake I made was use my father as my sponsor (apparently Canada frowns upon adults being sponsored by other adults unless it’s your spouse.. take note of this guys). I decided to immediately reapply and this time I over documented (check previous post for all documents I submitted). I was pretty confident at this point that I was going to get the VISA so imagine my shock once again when I was denied based on the same financial assets and family ties in and out of Canada. This time I was beyond angry! What more did these people want? I kept looking back at my life and started wondering when I started getting visa denials? Me? Then I started blaming my mother for travelling to and from the US a few months before giving birth to me because this wahala made no sense to me! How? The VO said they weren’t confident I wouldn’t return and I’m like HOW WONT I RETURN? I returned after school, I have never overstayed a VISA ever in my life, I’m a tax paying Nigerian for God’s sake! Anyways. I let it go cause I thought maybe this isn’t what God wants for me.

About 3 days after I got my second denial, I couldn’t sleep. My mind was tossing and turning and I was just all over the place wondering whether I should get an immigration lawyer involved or not, this is when God stepped in. I remembered a friend who told me she wrote to British embassy after a denial and they gave her a VISA so I decided that I was going to write an email to the Canadian high commission in London (they handled my application) and give them a real piece of my angry mind.

I typed up a VERY LONG email where I accused them of not paying due diligence to my application. I asked them to explain why I was denied without giving me generic reasons such as the ones they stated in my denial. I again explained my travel history, my education, my business and everything I have. I explained that how can they said I have no family ties in Nigeria when my father is saying he’s sponsoring me and will remain back home? What about my business that was profitable? All they had to do was google my business and they’ll see we are legitimate! Plus I had provided proof of ongoing business with major Nigerian and international brands? Also, I asked that is it cause I have no children and am divorced that I am being profiled as someone who won’t come back? It made no sense to me as my travel history and my education abroad could show that I had no interest in running away from Nigeria. If I didn’t run away then? Why would I run away now? Anyways. The email was long, angry and I basically told them they are doing a terrible job at selecting genuine visitors. When I was done typing, I prayed over it for a while. Finished praying and read through it again, made several corrections and then sent the email to all the email addresses I could find online for the London high commission.

3 days later I got a response from them saying they had received my email and the contents were noted and that my application was under re review. At this point I praised God because I knew a door had been open to me and that he was going to intervene. I didn’t hear back from them for another 3 weeks.. but when I did, it was an original passport request. I couldn’t believe my eyes! I didn’t reapply, all I did was trust God to fight for me and stated my case and they gave me a TRV!

I submitted my passport on the 3rd of May and picked it up on the 30th of May (that whole wait is another long story that doesn’t need sharing).

It is now June 4th and I am writing this long epistle from Toronto, Canada. I’m here for a few weeks before I return back to Lagos to face the Naija grind! At this point all I can do is thank God almighty because he gave me a testimony! A great gift and I’m beyond happy that my story ended like this.

My story is peculiar and different and I’m sure there are people who might want to try what I did after a denial. One thing I will advise is before you accuse them of anything make sure your profile is strong enough (before you end up shouting yourself in the foot) and make sure your spirit, mind and soul have the backing of Christ. I knew God wanted me to send that email which is why I sent it. It’s important to also know your rights and be educated about things before doing anything. Also never give up! In everything you do, never give up! God rewards your diligence and I pray he will see each and everyone through their applications!

Same to you! Got it last Thursday. Been a little busy that’s why I haven’t brought my long awaited story. Will do that later on.

Documents submitted

1. Travel history - US, UK, Canada (went to school there), Ukraine, South Africa, Dubai, The Bahamas, Schegen territories. Included every Visa I’ve ever gotten from student to visiting and every exit and entry stamp since my first passport as a child.
2. Company documents - All CAC forms which showed my name on it. I also included my parents companies as my name is on the documents as well.
3. Statement of account totalling about 4M (personal and my own company)
4. Letter from my bank stating I’m sole signatory to my company account
5. Tax clearance certificates - Personal and company
6. Proof of ongoing business - Invoices to my clients, recent invoices from my creditors, proof of payments etc
7. A family tree showing my relationship to my aunt who was inviting me to Canada
8. Two invitation letters - One from my aunt and the second from my friend who we went to school together with
9. Pre booked flight tickets (I used Visa Reservation dot com) it cost me $30 and the ticket remained valid throughout when my application was at the embassy.
10. Sponsorship letter from my dad who is paying for my trip. I also included his bank statements.
11. Evidence I went to school in Canada previously (to show that I truly wanted to visit old friends)

That’s about it.

No counterfoil. Only thing I see is that it’s been approved and the original passport request.

I’m tired! Since the 3rd of May. Might just go there tomorrow or Wednesday. Will keep you all posted.

canadaman18:

Does your CIC portal still not have a counterfoil?

If it doesn't it means its still with the embassy if you know for sure it got delivered to them in the first place.

I'd go to the embassy and just say you believe your passport has been lost in transit but you want to be sure it's not still with them before you file a police report, that should get them to at least give you a concrete answer

That is why I said I give up.

It actually makes no sense. It’s 3 weeks now. Someone was telling me they held on to her husband’s passport for 7 weeks after an original passport request. I don’t know again. I’m jut tired. And the fact that they don’t respond to my emails. I’m very tempted to go to the embassy tomorrow because at this point it’s kidnap of passport (lol).

But you don't need to be told that isn't correct. Probably talking of application timeline from start to finish. Something may be up with yours as it is now though.... More patience

It’s easy to say cool down when your passport is not being held for ransom. I had a business meeting in Dubai last weekend, that’s been postponed. It’s been over 3 weeks with everyone else who has submitted after me receiving theirs. Even on the student visa thread people who submitted last week have received theirs. So how am I expected to remain cool?

It’s frustrating. I have other visas to apply for, other trips to go for. It’s summer, i need to travel.

Not sure if it was this thread I said it in. My family know someone who works at the embassy in Lagos and he said they are short on staff.

One person is apparently doing all of the printing which is why it’s taking so long. I do know of people who submitted after me that have gotten it so it’s annoying. Let’s be patient.

easyxtan:

It really long, passport wait and application processing wait are really taking long this day, They should just put the visa sticker and return the passport, just dont understand , just to put ordinary sticker for passport, it hard for them, something that takes 3 working days before now it taking weeks, or was the passport request sent by mistake, they should just sit up in that Lagos office and work.

I will be going there on Friday to check if my daughter passport is ready because i submitted 10th of May.

Sending a CSE to the processing immigration office in charge of your application doesn't pose to be an act of desperation rather it speeds up the transmission of your passport since your application has already been approved.

Below are emails of the immigration offices you can contact;

- London Immigration office
LDNIMMIGRATION@international.gc.ca

-. Lagos immigration department
lagos.immigration@international.gc.ca

- Kenya, Nairobi immigration office

As to the bolded I don't share my personalized mails or letters on a public forum in an effort to avoid plagiarism. If you deem it necessary, a private communication will do.

Hi Sally,

No counterfoil yet. Trust me I check CIC several times a day and also track it several times a day. I’ve also been to the VFS office twice (it’s right next to my house).

I’m just going to relax for now and whenever it comes, it comes. I just wanted to leave Naija ASAP as I NEED A BREAK from all the noise, generator sounds and annoying drivers. Need fresh air for a few weeks before I return home to face the chaos again.

sillysassysally:
Hi
I submitted my passport on the 9th of May for stamping. Here’s a summary of the line of events that followed afterwards...

1. I saw a document update relating to the counter foil. I saw this update on my CIC account and it essentially stated the validity of my visa (17th May)

2. I received my correspondence letter (18th May)

3. I used the tracking tool to track my visa and noticed that it was ready for pickup as at 17th May.

So these things may give an indication of your visa stamping status;
1. Does your CIC account show any document update relating to the counterfoil

2. Have you gotten a correspondence letter ?

3. Have you tried tracking the progress via the visa tool on Vfs website?
