this condition is most likely caused by Schistosoma haematobium which u must have heard about and the tests that can confirm the presence of the eggs of this worm in your bladder includes urine samples examined microscopically for S. haematobium eggs present in the urine or S. mansoni or S. japonicum eggs present in the feaces.

i'm not surprised that these tests gave a negative result because this condition is hard to detect in the lab but will be there present.

Pls find a better lab, a teaching hospital or something and run it again, if negative also then perform a blood (serologic) test.

this condition is crazy and can lead to bad problems. don't relent.

Doctor prescribed: Uroprocit, asked me to mix it with water, Koact 625 antibiotics, praziquantel & flagyl.
I took them for a week, blood stopped and resurfaced on the last day I'm supposed to take final dosage.

That's what the Doctor wrote on my file.... He ruled out Kidney infection or stones and placed me on UTI treatment.

I will discuss with him for a possible referral this week.

It was some weeks after I started noticing this.
I have stayed away from it for some time now.

My question is, is it safe to use praziquantel as a preventive measure?

The thing is I had the same feeling some years ago. My Own is discharge was very thick mucous and boxers always mess up before morning or in the evening. I tried different drugs and use herbs but it was still the same until I use ciprotab with 500mg. I started with 2 caplets and reduced the second dose to 1. Also ensure your wife or girlfriend takes 250mg as well. The way I felt when I took it: when I wanted to pee, my unirary tract felt like I applied red and yellow capsule on wound and feel like this for 2 days before the pain was subdued and went away. Till date I have not experienced such.

I have noticed this unusually stain of blood in my boxers every time I come back home from work but I thought it was nothing until I went to use the restroom one day when i observed this redness in my urine. After the urine, comes a think long red worm-like thing coming out followed by blood. Jeez!

Next day, I rushed to General hospital to see a doctor, he suspect schistosomes/fluke worm. He recommended some tests 1) M/S/U or M/C/S,( 2) FCBY (3) E/U/C . All came out negative.

Wrote some drugs which I have taken for almost a week now. The blood stopped 4 days and came back again on the 5th day that I am supposed to take the last dosage.

When I sleep at night now, my boxers gets wet again with the lond red worm....

NB: Doctor keep asking if I come from Ondo state, and when last I visited village, I work closely around water.
I am married with kids......
