Doctors in Saudi Arabia conducted a delicate operation over the weekend as they removed tweezers from a 22 year old man's penis.

According to the Doctors who reported the case to online medical forum, UROLOGY CASE REPORTS', after viewing an xray of where the tweezers were located in the urethra, they applied pressure on either side of the penis to keep the 2.7-inch tweezers closed as they carefully brought it out of the base of the penile shaft.

The man who was unnamed in the report, reported himself to doctors and revealed he had a history of inserting metal objects into his urethra.

Doctors say some men insert objects into their penis due to psychiatric issues, being drunk or for sexual gratification and hardly report to doctors due to embarrasment...

The patient in the report said he felt no pain during the 4 years the object was in his urethra , was in good health and did not suffer any difficulties in urinating.

The doctors, writing in the forum, said: ‘At the end of the procedure, no urethral catheter was inserted, the patient voided well and went home post procedure.

‘The patient was recommended to undergo a psychiatric evaluation but he refused. The patient did not follow up with the outpatient department.’

Politics / More Trouble As OPC Reacts To Sowore’s Detention, Reveals Next Move by Denland: 7:24am On Oct 01, 2019
The Oodua’s Peoples Congress, popularly known as OPC, has reacted to the continued Detention of Sahara Reporters Publisher and Former Presidential Candidate, Omoyele Sowore.

In a statement on Monday, signed by the Publicity Secretary of the group, Oguntimehin Yinka, OPC berated the federal government, describing the refusal to obey court orders as ‘lawlessness’. The statement read;

“It is obvious that the Federal Government is playing politics with Sowore’s detention. Where on earth does an elected president flaunt the law and refuse to obey court orders? The Federal Government is treating the judiciary with contempt and it is sad.”

“With democracy under President Muhammadu Buhari, the numbers of Federal Government detainees are growing by the day.”

“Before the new judgment, there had been an existing court order for his release, yet the
government did not blink an eyelid on the issue and Nigerians have been reacting, because the situation is affecting the image of the country in the international world.”

“We cannot continue to fold our arms and behave as if nothing is wrong. If the Federal Government continue this way, that means we are heading towards becoming a lawless nation and that portends grave danger to the nation.”

Politics / Buhari Pulls NSIP Supervision From Osinbajo, Now To Be Run By Ministry by Denland: 7:16am On Oct 01, 2019
President Muhammadu Buhari has further shrunk the workload of his deputy, Vice
President Yemi Osinbajo as he announced on Tuesday that the supervision of the National Social Investment Programme hitherto under Osinbajo’s watch has been moved to a new ministry.

The programme, an innovative social programme in which government budgets N500 billion yearly, but never really releases the entire appropriation, had been under the office of the Vice President since it was launched in 2016. A special adviser in the presidency, Maryam Uwais supervises the programme.

The programme utilises information technology to reach and target beneficiaries and has earned plaudits. Last week, Schwab Foundation For Social Entrepreneurship , a sister organization of the World Economic Forum conferred its Public Social Intrapreneur award on Mrs Maryam Uwais.

President Buhari announced today in his 59th Independence Anniversary Speech that it was time to institutionalise it with the creation of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.

At the moment, the NSIP comes in different shades: Home-grown School Feeding Programme, Government Economic Empowerment Programme, N-Power Job Creation Programme, loans for traders and artisans, Conditional Cash Transfers to the poorest families and social housing scheme.

Buhari promised that the programme will continue to target these vulnerable groups,
including those who may be impacted ‘painfully ‘ by the economic policy directions that may be suggested by the new Economic Advisory Council.

“To institutionalize these impactful programmes, we created the Ministry for Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development which shall consolidate and build on our achievements to date. To the beneficiaries of these programmes, I want to reassure you that our commitment to social inclusion will only increase”, Buhari said in the broadcast.

“However, we are also committed to ensure that the inconvenience associated with any painful policy adjustments, is moderated, such that the poor and the vulnerable, who are most at risk, do not bear the brunt”, he added.

President Buhari appeared to have emasculated the Vice President when he announced the creation of the Economic Advisory Council, to replace the Economic Management Team (EMT) headed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

The new body headed by Professor Doyin Salami will report directly to the President.
Other members of the EAC are Dr Mohammed Sagagi (Vice-Chairman), Dr Mohammed Adaya Salisu, Senior Special Assistant to the President, Development Policy (Secretary), Prof. Ode Ojowu, Dr Shehu Yahaya, Dr Iyabo Masha, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, and Mr Bismark Rewane.

Eyebrows were further raised when the membership of the council also excluded the Special Adviser in the Presidency on the economy, Dr Adeyemi Dipeolu.

Health / 36 New Cases Of Yellow Fever Disease Discovered In Katsina by Denland: 6:26am On Oct 01, 2019
Thirty-six new cases of Yellow Fever disease have been discovered in Danmusa and
Kankara Local Government Areas of Katsina State.

Jolted by this, the state government has flagged of preventive campaigns and free
vaccination of residents against the life- threatening disease.

Yellow Fever, according to the Deputy Governor of the state, Alhaji Mannir Yakubu, is a serious infectious disease transmitted by specific kind of infected mosquitoes.

As a result of this, he said on Monday that, the State government had decided to embark
aggressive preventive campaigns and vaccination across the state, targeting over seven million people.

“This is a great opportunity for all caregivers to have their children from the age of 9 months vaccinated and for other individuals up to the age of 44 years.

“This age range is chosen because they arenfound to be most affected,” he said.

The deputy governor appealed to the heads of households, individuals, traditional and
religious leaders to engage their community members to get vaccinated.

He called on parents to ensure that all eligible target population were captured in the
vaccination exercise which would last for 10 days.

Yakubu directed local government chairmen to attend evening review meetings on the
exercise, to ensure proper monitoring and ensure success.

He noted that for the success of the exercise, vaccines, syringes, and data tools had been supplied to all the councils.

According to reports by the News Agency of Nigeria, the Executive Director, National
Primary Health Care Development Agency, Faisal Shuaib, said the exercise would be
extended to schools, mosques, churches, markets and motor parks, among other places where eligible persons could be found.

Politics / DSS: We Never Arrested Chido Onumah by Denland: 4:07am On Oct 01, 2019
The Department of State Services (DSS) wishes to make clarifications regarding media reports that Dr Chido Onumah was arrested by the Service. To set the records right, Onumah was never arrested by the Service. He was rather engaged in an interaction during which an act of his capable of undermining public order and national security was explained to him.

On his arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on 29th September, 2019, it was discovered that Onumah wore a T-shirt with WE ARE ALL BIAFRANS inscription on it. With credible intelligence that he might be a subject of mob attack if allowed to go into town in same cloth, the Service invited him and drew his attention to the implications of his probable (un)intended action.

It was strongly believed that an attack on Onumah would have sparked ethno-religious reprisals with dire consequences for law and order and public safety in the country. He understood the issues and pledged not to engage in activities that may cause disaffection in Abuja and the country at large. He subsequently removed the cloth with the inciting symbols and inscriptions and agreed not to use it.

The interaction between Onumah and the Service held in a convivial atmosphere. He appreciated the courtesies extended to him. Afterwards, the Service arranged for him to go back to his accommodation in town.

It is hoped that this clarification has dispelled the erroneous claims and reportage that he was arrested. The Service acted within the confines of its mandate and only carried out its routine security duty that could have been discharged by a similar agency in any part of the world. It is not out of place for concerned security agencies to have sought clarification from a traveler concerning a subject of security interest.

The DSS reaffirms its avowed commitment to the rule of law and protection of citizens and national critical assets.

Politics / Nigeria Is A Lawless Country, Sowore Urge Citizens To Fight For Own Country by Denland: 3:43am On Oct 01, 2019
The publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, on Monday described Nigeria
as a lawless country and urged its citizens to fight for “a country of our own.”

Mr Sowore has been detained for nearly 60 days by the State Security Service (SSS) for planning the #RevolutionNow protest which held in parts of the country on August 5.

He was brought before judge on Monday — his first public outing since arrest — charged with treasonable felony, fraud and cyber stalking. Mr Sowore pleaded not guilty to the charges.

He struck a defiant tone, urging Nigerians to reclaim their country.

“The revolution must hold, whether they like it or not,” he said.

He spoke to journalists briefly as SSS agents tried to stop him.

“Calm down. I must address the press. You know I must address the press,” Mr Sowore
said in a video shared by Channels television, while SSS officials tried to pull him away.

Asked about his detention, Mr Sowore said: “Well I have been kept incommunicado for nearly 60 days now. You can see them dragging me. This is a lawless country. That is why Nigeria must fight for its soul so that we can get a chance to have a country of our own.”

As he was led away, Mr Sowore chanted slogans and songs: “Revolution! Now!! Revolution! Now!!” “Revolution, eh!! Revolution, eh!! We must fight for this before we die! Revolution, eh!”

The crowd of Mr Sowore’s supporters amplified the song while the SSS officials dragged Mr Sowore out of the court through a back door.

Downstairs, another video shot by one of Mr Sowore’s lawyers, Inibehe Effiong, and shared on the lawyer’s Twitter handle showed the former presidential candidate speaking again.

“Ladies and gentlemen, don’t worry, we are on top of this. We will have a revolution, whether they like it or not,” Mr Sowore said.

Mr Effiong added that the revolution would benefit all including the SSS. Earlier, Mr Sowore had arrived the court through the back door and was brought in, just about the same time the judge, Ijeoma Ojukwu, was about to enter the courtroom.

But the photojournalists who had suspected that the SSS planned to take Mr Sowore through a back door, had been waiting at the entrance of the court and fought hard to get his photos.

The situation forced Ms Ojukwu to return to the chambers for over 15 minutes while security officials struggled to get the reporters out of the courtroom.

Mr Sowore was arrested on August 3. A court order for his release on September 24 was ignored by the SSS.

He was charged with a co-defendant, Olawale Bakare.
