Thanks!!!

Lol, I tell you. Nerve-wracking is the word. The days literally crawled. Just glad it's over. grin

oxygyne:

Congratulations!!! I can imagine but in fairness 67 working days is not bad for non-priority.

I must say priority service is nice (because I did priority) but the wait no matter how short the duration is always going to be nerve-wracking because it more about the thought of possible refusal which will keep you away from your loved ones and ofcos the cost of the application, that weighs on your mind.

So its an opportunity cost scenario, either wait for 3 months or spend extra approx 275k.
If I was guaranteed to get the visa and I had 3 months to wait, I will not pay that extra 275k that I can use on flight ticket..lol

Congrats again

Thanks Launna. I have absolutely no idea. No mail or call afterwards. Maybe its sometimes a generic mail sent after the expected processing time has passed and its still with them. I'm tempted to think so coz I got the mail on Sunday morning which isn't even a working day. I really dont understand that part myself.

Launna29:

Congratulations,
If i may ask why did they say application not straightforward? Did they call or mail?

Here I stand, another graduate of this noble institution! grin grin I can't say thank you enough to everyone who has contributed vital information on this forum. The information is pricelessly invaluable!

I got my passport back today, with the visa!!
67 working days in total. I'm so elated and relieved. Here's my timeline;

*Online application - 31st March 18 (Non-Priority, Settlement - wife)
*Biometrics - 3 April 18
*Transferred to UKVI mail - 3 April 18
*Docs received at Sheffield - 16 April 18
*Being prepared for consideration mail - 23 April 18
*Application not straightforward - 1 July 18 (getting this after 62 working days sent me into panic mode!!)
*Decision made email from TLS - 5 July 18 (Day 66)
*Passport collected with visa - 6 July 18 (Day 67)

The last 3 months have been the longest, marked with obsessive mail/TLS status checking and counting working days. Lol. My advice, if you can, by all means, please do Priority. The wait is harrowing. Praise to God that its over and it turned out positive. I pray everyone waiting receives their good news soon too.

Hi Deola

1. I think it's better you explain in the additional information section. If possible to try to rectify the employment error at the court... some people have explained how they had to go back to the registry to rectify errors. Remember you don't want to give the UKVI officials any reason for suspicion

2. Overdraft doesn't matter to them. All the need your hubbys bank statement for is to confirm if he truly receives the salary you have claimed he receives plus to back the payslips up

3. I think it's not good that you don't have any pre wedding or courtship evidences... you really need to find something (pictures, call logs, social media etc) to back up the ones you have from 2016 to present

4. I don't think it matters who does the screenshots. As long as eveidences show that the conversations/communications transpired between both of you

5. I don't think it's really necessary printing your bank statements as long as your sponsors bank statements are correct and shows that he receives the said salary to maintain both of you.

Hope I'm able to help with these few information. Gurus in the house should correct me anywhere if I'm wrong

Thanks for your input. About the pictures, we actually have loads of those. Just not so much in terms of communication btw 2014 and 15 coz of change of phones, etc and we weren't big on social media that much then. But we'll be sure to do some more ransacking, hopefully we'd get something. Thanks much! smiley

(1) Your response is what I also would have suggested you do....... Letter from employer etc etc and brief summary in relevant section.....

(2) The overdraft should not be an issue. Since its presumed you would also be picking some form of employment, when you arrive...... The bank statement request, is just to crosscheck figures and currently active & live

(3) A house in multiple occupation is a property rented out by at least 3 people who are not from 1 'household' (eg a family).... Based on the definition of an HMO, your husband is currently leaving in a HMO (Property inspection required)............

Alright. Thanks for your response. Hope to come back here and share my timeline soon too! cool

Your response nah laptop e deserve. Smartphone feels too cramped.......

Here's my question. I hope it's more readable now.

1) I work as a customer relations officer for a private transportation company however on my marriage certificate, my occupation was erroneously put as 'public servant'. I didn't think much of it but on going through the visa application form, there is a part that asks about employment history and if I've ever worked for the government. I intend to tick "NO" as I never have, but the discrepancy between my actual occupation and what is on the marriage certificate worries me. Do you think I should explain this in the 'additional notes' section and also back it up with a letter from my employer stating job role, date of joining, etc as part of our supporting documents...or I should simply ignore this?

2) We meet the stipulated financial requirements, however my husband (sponsor) has an overdraft in his bank statement (2 months out of the 6 we intend to present have overdrafts). Do you think this would be an issue? Do people get refused on account of overdraft in the sponsor's bank statement?

3) Husband presently lives in a 3 bedroom flat with 2 other tenants, is property inspection report a must?

1) wish I could answer this for you, had a similar problem, put a wrong occupation for hubby grin

2) I don’t think they care about overdrafts, they just want to know that he earns the minimum amount of 18600. His earning more than this can make up for his overdraft.

3) Property inspection or a letter from the landlord. Someone more learned than I am will answer this better.

4) it shouldn’t be much of a worry. Just put what you have then explain, in a letter to them, the missing convos due to phone loss (didn’t you guys chat online? Like FB). As for me, I munched 3 to 4 per month of my convo with my Oga and showed them our daily whatsapp calls for the past year since I returned to Nigeria then sent all our marriage, family and kissy kissy photos to them. They go flinch tire grin

5) No it absolutely doesn’t matter who screenshots and sends the chats and all. I did mine because I have all the resources to do my and I’m more IT savvy than he is (I put mine 6 shots per page and printed front and back, they aren’t reading the chats per say, they just care to know that you chat a lot!).

6) yes you can do this if you want. And explain your highlights in an applicant or sponsor letter.

The experts will give you better answers.

Okay. Thanks so much for this. I'm grateful. God bless.

Hi @lexusgs430, @justwise @teejay231 and other amazing people here!

Please ooo I have been an ardent follower of this thread and been able to gather a whole lot of information. I read right from page 0 till the very end! So I and my husband are planning to make an application. I am the applicant and my husband the sponsor residing in the UK. I am here. Just to make sure we dot the i's and cross our t's, I would be super grateful to have answers to the below;

1) On my marriage certificate, my occupation was erroneously put as 'public servant'. there is a part that asks about employment history and if I've ever worked for the government.

2) We meet the stipulated requirements and my husband earns more than the 18600 stated, however he has an overdraft in his bank statement (2 months out of the 6 we intend to present have overdrafts). Do you think this would be an issue? Do people get refused on account of overdraft in the sponsor's bank statement?

3) Hubs presently lives in a 3 bedroom flat with 2 other tenants, is property inspection report a must?

3) We met in 2014. Got married this year. But we have no history of our communication between 2014-2015 as we have both had course to change phones and all. But from 2016 till date, we have a truckload of chat history, emails, pictures and all.. would that do despite having met since 2014?

4) Does it matter who does the screenshooting of call history, emails and all? Does my sponsor have to be the one who does it from his end or either party can?

5) Is it okay to print out my bank statement here and highlight times he's sent me money as proof of relationship?

Thanks.

Go ahead with your application. I think you're qualified to apply. The rest is up to your preparations.

First you write the English test, then the departmental test, then take the oral interview.

See what to expect up in my last reply

Okay. Thank you.
