Hello ladyG and Gurus
My wife and I applied for vacation last month but we're denied so we decided to children at Obudu and use the budgeted travel expenses to US to change my wife's car(warri women no dey carry last). We were denied cos we had no child in my own opinion cos we have good paying jobs an travel history though separately to UK and SA.The VO stressed on the child issue. During the interview I signalled wifey to disclose her 18weeks pregnancy but she didnt.
Now there is a memo in the hospital that all the senior resident doctors in a particular department should attend a 46th international conference in Chicago as a prerequisite for part 2 exam before becoming a consultant and this will be fully sponsored by the hospital through federal government.Based on my position,i will be among the attendees BUT my fear now is that my wife would have put to bed by then and if I should say I have a child won't the VO see it as misrepresentation since wifey didn't disclose her pregnancy.Should I still maintain that I have no child to avoid being perceived as misrepresentation and possible ban.help please

Ehennn, I have been an ardent follower of this thread. So, this morning I had my interview for my visit visa at the Lagos consulate. Today was a feast of blue paper, I barely saw a white paper. My transcript is as below:

Vo: Good morning
Me: good morning
Vo: pass me your passport
me: passes my old and new passports (she collected only the new one)
Vo: where are you going in US
Me: New York city
Vo: why are you going to New York city?
Me: for vacation, my annual leave is in July and I plan to spend that time vacationing in New York, and would love to visit some interesting tourist attraction sites there like the statue of liberty, museums, central park and other sites
Vo: Have you travelled to other countries
Me: yes, Australia, New Zealand, India, Ghana and Benin Republic (I told her mission in these countries, she picked the old passport and flipped through the pages)
Vo: What do you do?
Me: I am a medical doctor (I told her my area of specialisation)
Vo: what type of ailment do you treat?
Me: told her the common illnesses encountered in my practice
Vo: where do you work?
Me: I work with bla bla bla
Vo: Are you married?
Me: No
VO: Do you have children?
Me: No
Vo: Do you have relatives in New York?
Me: No, I do not have relatives in New York (In my Ds 160 form, I had filled that I have a relative in Georgia but I did not tell her this since she specifically asked about New York)
Vo: I'm sorry, you do not qualify for this visa at this time (passes back my passports with blue paper)
me: thank you.

That was it, I went back home to mourn the loss of my hard-earned 54,500 naira.

Let me include my other profile which she did not ask for during the interview.
Age: 35years
Gender: female
Duration of work: 9 years
salary: bla bla bla.

Also, this is my second rejection, the first was in 2012. AntyLydia iyaf suffered angry angry angry
Nawa oooooo!what do they want again.Good travel history(checked),job tie(checked).Could it be marital Status or you were too pushy/forward trying convince the VO?In fact the VO must be in a bad mood

LagosNIV:

It's not about "getting it wrong." Looking at this, it appears that you had insufficient ties at the time of the interview. You were a single male with no travel history and limited time employed in your position. Now, your ties are better established. You have to interview before a VO will assess whether your ties are sufficient at this point, but you should also be able to self assess and see how things are different and whether or not you would qualify under the criteria outlined by the law.
Please while filling the employment part of DS 160,there is no space to fill in how long I have been in my present place of work.Is there any way that could be ascertained aside during interview

Hello desrie. You posted this question on a different thread on this forum. You should be clear about what you want: opinions from anyone or facts from visa officers.

Please opinion from visa officers
Thank you

Did Ethiopian immigration stamp entry on your passport?
If not then you should' nt include that on your DS-160, as you have no documentation to proove you were in Ethiopia- unless you had Ethiopian entry and exit stamps.
Thank you very much.my passport was not stamped rather my air ticket

Good evening VO
My colleague who's a medical doctor wants to travel with his fiance who's a practising Nurse for vacation and shop for their wedding.though he has engaged her and fixed their wedding september. Both have good travel history to UK and UAE.
Is it advisable for them to apply now or wait till they have tied the knot so they could have marriage certificate from the registry to present.
Their problem is that it will take another one year to get their leave from their respective hospitals.
Please advice

I have been a silent reader of this great thread and I must say I have learnt a lot.

I want to share the trancript of my interview that took place towards the end of feb for myself, wifey and our 3 kids.

VO: Goodmorning
Me & Wifey: Goodmorning
VO: Can I have your passports.
Me: (Hands them over)
VO: Why are you going to newyork and florida
Me: For vacation and to do some shopping
VO: What do you do?
Me: I work with xyz company as an .........
VO: What do you do for the company
Me: ...........................and immediate interventions when there is a fault
VO: What kind of faults
Me: (I mentioned some I could remember)
VO: How often do these faults occur
Me: On a daily basis, because we have a lot of ........
VO: How big is your workplace
Me: (I couldnt think of a better response, so I just told the VO our output per day)
VO: (To wifey) what do you do
Wifey: I work as (mentions job title) in bleep company
VO: that should be under (mentions wifey's department)
Wifey: Yes
VO: How long have you been working with this company
Wifey: bleep years
(in between these conversations, the VO spent a lot of time typing)
VO: How much are you planning for the trip
Me: $11,000 (I have done the necessary calculation after I read from this thread when someone was asked, and he mentioned $3500 for a family of 3 which many said it is too poor to cover such trip)
VO: (hands over a white paper) pick your visa in (I couldnt care much as I saw the white paper)

I thank God for his favour. My profile is not bad I think, I have been to Italy, France and UK with my whole family, except our new baby. My job is not bad same with wifey. No single document was checked, even our passports were not opened.
However, our baby's passport was put on administrative processing for like a week, but has now been issued.

Intended travel date is in august (If money dey) for those asking if it is early to apply

Thank you guys!!!

did you fill in point of contact

Hello people
I want to apply for b1/b2 visa with my wife.here is our profile
1.both med doctors undergoing residency
2.just got married traditionally a month ago
3.wifey has been to UK and SA while I have been to SA and Ghana.
4.i was denied visa 2 years ago while I was doing Nysc without any reason though I had feeli.gs that it could be due to no travel experience and tie
Now we want to go for vacation and intend to stay in a hotel but a mutual friend who's a priest and a professor in the US wants us to use him as a point of contact in the US but am scared that the VO might see it as a tie in the US thus reason for refusal.
Should we stick to our hotel as point of contact or use this friend who happens to be my teacher back in the seminary.Help
