Travel / Re: Great Airports Of Africa - Pics by Diamby: 6:58am On Nov 04, 2018
It's obvious we have to blame our past leaders for the failures to provide these amenities, an Airport is a Gateway to a country and it can give a fair idea of the kind of country you are going into. I visited Ghana in October and when I saw the Kotoka international Airport you would know Nigeria has one of the worst Airports even in Africa. Our leaders travel outside and they see how an Airport should look like but they never replicate such in Nigeria. All these issues boils down to corruption, Am sure the monies used in building those edifices in South Africa, Senegal, Ghana, Ivory coast will be sitting in one politicians account in Nigeria. When the portharcout Airports was commissioned I sought to know about the New terminals in Lagos and Abuja and Minister of Aviation said there are structural defects on how those terminals where built. It was said that the Lagos own where built on cables powering the Main terminal and there is no connection between the old and the new terminal in Abuja the issue is that the New terminal is blocking or will block the control tower of the hence some re-structuring that needs billions of Nair needs to be done on both Lagos and Abuja. Just look at the level of corruption and inefficiency even in citing a Terminal, this was said to be the idea of then Minister Stella Oduah. Nigerian indeed has a very long way to go.

Career / Re: Which Is Better, NOUN Or UNILAG DLI by Diamby: 9:56pm On Jul 22, 2018
I will suggest you go for DLI UNILAG if you can afford it, there lectures is also flexible mostly on weekends like two weekends in a month. I don't know if this has changed now because I finished in 2016.Also, the certificate is not too diffrent from those of the full time and they don't go for NYSC, you will only apply for NYSC exemption letter at the end of your program.
Nairaland / General / Lagos: Now One Of The Dirtiest State In Nigeria. by Diamby: 5:28pm On Jul 22, 2018
It as become pertinent for me to comment on the issue of waste disposal in Lagos state. During the administration of BRF Lagos was one of if not the cleanest state in Nigeria but now it has become something else during Ambode's tenure. My question shy did the present administration do away with a system that is working and bring a so called "Vision Scam" I mean Vision scape of which refuse we keep seeing refuse in every corner on the streets on the express and everywhere. The adjoining street to my house has been turned to a refuse dump.I hope this does not become an epidemic soon. The Lagos state government should listen to the voice of reason and revert back to the old method where we have PSP coming to pick refuse in the inner neighbourhoods like twice weekly and bill people appropriately. The government should know that the present method cannot and will not work. I urge those people close to the governor to advice him on the need to make Lagos cleaner again so that we don't keep having refuse on the roads and streets again.

With all this news we are hearing about SARS it's better the government carries out a reform to change their Modus operandi or better still to Scrap them and transfer the SARS officers to the Army, Navy and Air Force to be sent to the middle belt where we have problems of herdsmen or the north east to tackle Boko Haram.

Health / AS Genotype Outnumbering AA by Diamby: 9:55pm On Jan 07, 2018
Hello People,

I really want to know if the number of people with AS genotype are more than those of AA. As we all know this is what should come first at any point one decides to get married. I have observed that a lot the people are carriers male and female means AS.This also makes the search to get suitable spouse somewhat difficult. So house is there any statistical data to proof me right or wrong?

ISLAM AGAIN

What do you expect from peopl whose religion has ordered them to fight other religion until they all submit and worship allah alone.

Allah's Apostle (Muhammad) said, "I have been ordered to fight the people till they say: 'None has the right to be worshipped but Allah'. And if they say so, pray like our prayers, face our Qibla and slaughter as we slaughter, then their blood and property will be sacred to us and we will not interfere with them except legally." Bukhari 8:387

Quran (8:39) - "And fight with them until there is no more fitna (disorder, unbelief) and religion is all for Allah"

Quran (9:29) - "Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book (CHRISTIANS), until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued." "

Quran (9:123) - "O you who believe! fight those of the unbelievers who are near to you and let them find in you hardness."

What does what you quoted has to do with what happened. How are you sure that those that attacked are Muslims not robbers. Please let's try to be patient and investigate properly before jumping into conclusion and not mislead people.

We can never deny the fact that betting is destroying the life of our present day youths. I personally know someone who is into betting and is living in perpetual indebtedness. This is some who has a job and earns salary on a monthly basis. If you ask him how much he has in his account he will tell you 15k. It has driven a lot of people into debts and selling there personal assets and even stealing.Nigerian youth should shun this evil vice and save for the future if you don't want to be a GATE MAN at your old age.

My brother don't contribute to ruining the lifes if both the young and old in the society. I have written on this betting/gambling issue on a thread i created on nairaland and how it has destroyed the lifes of many people turning people to result to stealing selling off there belongings and turning them to beggars and chronic liars. Would you like your loved ones to follow this path? Sure you would not. There are many better things to invest that your money on that is profitable and would give you rest of mind.e.g You can be an wholesaller of FMCG companies like P.Z,P&G,UNILEVER and the likes.I assure you it is better than than sport betting shop take this as a good advice from me.
Career / Proliferation Of Sport Betting-a Life Destroyer by Diamby: 3:12pm On Apr 30, 2017
I am typing this message from the bottom of heart and from the realities of the society we live in.Sports betting is destroying peoples life in our society and i don't think anybody can argue this with me. Those that allowed this in our country have actually planted the seed that is destroying the lives of nigerians both young and old. The experiences of other people i have heard has made me conclude that this is an evil that if not stopped we are heading for a society whose destuction its seed has been planted. I recently observed a childhood friend might be involved in this as i saw some facebook post from him liking Bet Naija and asking about some odds i don't know what that means. I tried to call his attention to this but he told me the posts where not from him that he borrowed someone his phone so the borrower is the one that made those post. I just smiled that is this guy talking to a kid. That is a pathological lie. What cemented my conclusion that he might be involved in betting is that he asked me to borrow him some money that he would pay back the following week i just had to decline because i know he would never pay back. Sports betting puts peole in perpetual debt, ruins family lines, destroy ambitions turns people to hardened liar and leads people to stealing. My conclusion is that sports betting and any other from of gambling should be banned completely from our society so as to restore the society back to its sane position.
Politics / Re: Would GEJ Have Stopped This Recession? by Diamby: 6:34pm On Feb 04, 2017
paschu:
In a nutshell, three policy blunders destroyed the economy of the nation. And PMB was DIRECTLY responsible for all the three blunders. And, nope, the drop in oil price was not part of it.

1. Failing to unite the country; and provoking the Niger Delta uneccessarily

PMB, without any due consultations, terminated the survilence contract that had been handled by ND youths for years now. (By the way I heard that he had reawarded the contract to a notherner). As if that was not enough he cut down the budget for the armnesty programe and threatened to terminate the program altogether.

Of course this was after dividing the country into 97% and 5%. Mind you, sane people from around the world (and even here on NL) warned the govenment about its economic suscide mission. But they were too sturbborn and arrogant to listen to the voice of wisdom.

In fact they actually bombed ND with impunity, forgeting that there can never be prosperity where there is no peace. By the time the ND youths were done avenging whatever, the oil production had been virtually grounded. The country's major source of forex had just crumbled. And that was for several months.

2. Instigating massive capital flight and demolishing investors' confidence

Trump had 90% of his team up prior to his inaugration. But PMB took nearly six monrhs (AFTER his inaugration) to setup what can be termed Nigeria's worst cabinet since 1999. He even called them "noise makers" before their assembly. This delay in setting up the country's executive team made foreig direct investors to start looking elsewhere.

And by the time the presidency started demonizing and threathening everyone, the foreign investors started flying away in droves. Now add this to the fact that up till now this government does not have a seasoned economic team nor direction. This shows why official inflation rate got shoot up by more than 100% in a little over 1 year. (You certainly do not want to hear the unofficial rate).

3. Erratic approach to foreign exchange terms and other related policies.

First the govt. woke up one morning and decided that folks could no longer withdraw or deposite forex over the counter, thereby creating massive panic, confusion and more erossion of investor confidence. In fact many companies were blocked from accessing their funds in forex. But the govt. suddenly reversed this policy after creating nedless confusion. Talk of trial and error.

Later the case of needful devaluation (or free floating) of the Naira came up. But the presidency vowed that it would never happen thereby sending the remaining investors away.

Of course the govt. later shifted their position (after doing the damage) and claimed that they had adopted a free float system. But guess what? It's all a lie. Naira is still being pegged, though no longer at N199. However the investors are not fooled. So they are still not here.

Plus, when the import dependent economy could no longer be fueled with the scarce forex, the cost of production soared and so did the inflation, thereby crippling the production and GDP generally. Yet, all the while, interest rates remained high and wages were either slashed or owed.

And, mind you, while most manufacturers and importers could not access forex at reasonable rates and were therefore closing down their shops, some religious and connected folks were getting the stuff from the govt. at some obscene and insanely subsidized rates.

That's how we got here in a nutshell.

In conclusion...

Of course there is no way the previous govetnment (of seasoned technocrats) could have made any of the above three mistakes. And mind you those three mistakes are not actually distinct from each other. One simply led to the other until they translated to the vicious circle they are now. Unfortunately folks like you keep taking the night for the day.

So you are saying we wouldn't have been in recession with nigeria been a mono economy for close to 16years.While would we rely solely on oil as our export earning. You might be right with the policy directions this present govt have taken but you disagree from the fact that if we had diversified and have dollars earnings from other sources the drop in oil prices wouldnt affect us much and again. The value of naira now in the parallel market is not the true value of the naira in actual fact as there are a lot of artificial scarcity from those who want the status quo to remain. There was no response from you on why we still import refined Petrol, diesel and kerosene. If previous govt built a new refinery and revamped the new ones we would not need to import as such the forex demand from oil importers would stop and would be needed for only importing items essential items we need. Also prices at the petrol station would be very low. Just try to be truthful to youself and reflect on my points.

Politics / Would GEJ Have Stopped This Recession? by Diamby: 9:56pm On Feb 03, 2017
People who criticize the present administration for the economic recession we are should tell us what the ousted government of GEJ would have done differently to halt the recession. We all know that i was the sharp drop in oil prices and lack of savings that threw us into this recession.Does jonathan have the powers to regulate international oil price? Nigeria is largely dependent on its earnings from crude oil for survival as such the oil prices affected our dollar earnings thereby causing the devaluation of the naira.I also ask what has previous administration done about diversifying the economy, building new refineries or revamping the old ones.power sector reforms as i know was a mess as most of the power infrastructure were handed over to those who have no capacity to manage them hence the eratic power supply we have now. The present govt might have its own issues about sound economic policies but i must say no foundation was built for the present government to build on so its like nigerian is just been nutured from the begining. Guys feel free to critise and add your own comments on how we found ourselves where we are today.Nigeria problem is structural.

Politics / Dangote Refinery by Diamby: 10:12am On Jan 29, 2017
House when will the dangote refinery commence full operations? I say this on the backdrop of rising diesel and kerosene prices also that of PMS. How far can this refinery go in relieving us of importation of refined products and saving us of forex? What would likely be the price of PMS,diesel and kerosene. For me i feel the price of petrol should come down to N60 diesel N80 and kerosene N40 per litre. I would want to welcome more comments.

Let us be serious for once and stop castigating this government because you don't like the faces of the people there. If previous governments had laid a solid foundation and put structures in place we wouldn't be having this kind of problems. No single refinery was maintained to operate at full capacity in a 16year rule, am not even talking about building news ones. In the power sector about $16b was squandered yet no light and you are here singing the praises of the previous government.Nigeria is like a collapsed building that needs total overhauling from the foundation.

What would the ousted government have done differently if they were voted into power? You are just hating on buhari for defeating your GEJ in the last elections. Nigeria now is just like a a building that just collapsed that is being built back from foundation. So we need to give this government time to fulfil their promises and if they fail we can boot them out next time. But judging a government in 9months for more than 16years of the a previous administrations misgovernance ludicrous.

So you expect a government that have not used up to a year to solve all these issue we've been having. You must be a joker. If previous government have done their own bit we wouldn't be having so much problem to solve on our hands today. I beleive this is just a phase that will definately pass.We just need to have a lot of patience. What i want people to know is that the alternatives we had during the last election was not much,we just have to get PDP out of the way OR do you think PDP we have done better in less than of APC rule?I don't think so. All the monies been recovered by this government would have definitely been swept under the carpet. Our watch word now should be patience.

The only thing they can boast off is Bokoharam,of which it's the weapons left behind by the previous administration that is been used to win the war.

I really want this government to succeed because that will lead to good national development but as it stands I don't see them having any cogent plan aside media persecution and propaganda on the corruption crusade.

Politics / Re: Fuel Scarcity Will Persist Till May–kachikwu by Diamby: 8:57pm On Mar 23, 2016
I think most of us have lost sight of the fact that the problems we have today is as a result of years of visionless leadership of which PDP took part in 16years of it.If old refineries have been fixed and new ones built we wouldn't have these problems we have today. This cuts across all sectors of our economy. As for me PDP takes the blame for most of the problems we have today, they had 16 straight years without interuption to fix many issues but they refused.Nigeria generated the highest revenues from crude during their period and i stand to be corrected but they failed to use it for the benefit of all.So it will be too early in the day to blame this present government for fuel scarcity and other issues,i feel we should be patient and give them time.

Please people this concerns those who know about the tricks of diesel dealers or diesel generally.A case of mixture of diesel with water happened aand it was been suggested that someone had access to the tank, stole diesel their and replaced it with water. This was a case of about 5000litres discharged and tested with hydrometer used for a while but after about 2 and half weeks it was discovered that water was coming out with the diesel from the tap used for collecting diesel from the tank.My questions are
1.Can diesel dealers discharge water with diesel without it been detected on discharge?

2.Can someone steal diesel from a tank and decide to add some water so that it would not be detected

3.note that the tank is not leaking from the top

4.How long does it take for water to settle if about 5000litres is discharged and an amount of water is added to it.

please i need an urgent answer has this has caused a lot of accusations and a lot of innocent people might be involved.
