Congratulations to her. Even though I disagree with her politics. I respect and admire her achievement. May she succeed in all her politics that lift us all up and fail in whatever policy that will make life make hard for Nigerians and immigrants in UK.

This rule cause a problem between me and a close friend, it's been a while since he visited me. Only for me to come home and saw a message from that he and his wife came to my house. The annoying thing v that this my friend has my phone number, he could have called that he came my house or even leave a text message. He only messaged one of my siblings. Me too I did not call him, I only sent a text message to his phone. It's over 20 years, he doesn't call him or talk to me. Please is there anything wrong with my actions.

20 years ago, I don't think phone is rampant as it is now. The way we do in our culture is to call the person and apologize and say uncle I am sorry when you came. I am not home. You should have called me sir. If the person is your mate you call and ask him why he could not have called you to let you know. You feign annoyance.

do you guys even watch the video, the mother said she send money for her upkeep every weeks, every months till now

Was she sending money when she was 16? She got pregnant at 16. They took the baby and raise her for her to be able to be on her feet. The way she handle the issue tells me she is not a responsible person. Why not call her aside and break it to her instead of creating drama for what purpose?

Can Boko Haram group meet US congressmen openly?
Please read the first line :
Every group that is not fighting against US interest can meet them openly with the right amount of cash.

What is the meaning of Boko Haram? “Western education is forbidden”
They are against US interest

Your last paragraph shows you ain't objective in discussion. How can America be plotting for a Biafra when they ain't the one looking for Biafra? Lol
It should be the other way round.

Besides, not every group can meet the speaker openly.... lobby or not

Every group that is not fighting against US interest can meet them openly with the right amount of cash. They can even meet a group as a tool to achieve their own political end e.g as a pressure to force Nigeria government to release the detained Biance executive or remind nigeria tha if they work with Russia/China they will support Biafra cause.

The speaker is in opposition, the US need Nigeria more than the other way round in the current political situation with Russia and China influence in Africa. The meeting can also be a way to extract some concession from the Biden administration as this will cause some diplomatic row with the Nigerian government.

I don't think this single meeting is of any value to BIAFRA cause. However, it is still worth celebrating as an in your face to Nigerian government. I also believe this is a more strategic move than anything the BIafran agitator have done in the recent past.

I am Yoruba but this kind of thread promotes ethnic rivalry which isn't good.

This is in poor tastes.

Others who do similar with their own ethnic groups shouldn't come here and praise me.

We are all the same before God.

It seems that they don't know better. I don't know why anyone will celebrate this as some sort of achievement. I didn't read it anywhere that Bank in Canada and UK coming to Nigeria to recruit Yoruba language speakers or university graduate.

Then it means the other children are not ready to fight for what they think is theirs.

If u have a will that says NATIONAL WESTMINISTER BANK PLC, UK is the executor of the will and u are a listed beneficiary, is it not common sense to approach the bank for ur share of the estate?

Have the other children approached the bank and they were refused their share?

If u are bringing such family issues to the public, then u should be ready to answer logical questions so people can really understand what exactly the issue is. No be everything be emotions.

Abiola get condition DNA. If you don't have valid DNA, you may not be able to approach Westminster.

Hmm...

When you tell people that removing subsidy is not an end in itself, they throw up blind arguments.

If as the government said that pms subsidies became unsustainable because of corrupt practices and rising costs, the commonsense thing to have done is check the corrupt practices and then address the issues that gave rise to the increasing costs.

How can you admit that people committed economic sabotage for years and then rather than get those people to pay for thier crimes against the masses, you leave the masses to thier fate because you are too cowardly to do the right thing?

Does bat think the economic saboteurs would just simply go away because he decided to run from them and instead suffer the masses? That cabal would simply evolve into another monster to continue to feed off the broken system, afterall, they are untouchable.

First address the factors that have made fuel subsidy unsustainable, then you can remove the subsidy. At that point, pms could come down to as low as N350- N400 per litre without subsidy, which is still bearable in our present economic state IF the N70k minimum wage is implemented across board.

Once pms crosses N400, reintroduce subsidies, at this point, government would be paying about N50-N75 subsidy. When prices drop, stop the subsidy.

To those saying smuggling because of high prices in other countries, I ask...

1. Why should Nigerians pay more for a product it has comparative advantage simply because the government is too incompetent to perform its duty of securing the nation's borders?

2. What stops fuel prices from going up in those countries as the price in Nigeria rises? So because fuel is N2000 in Cameroon, Nigerians must pay N2500 for something they can get at N500?

3. What happens when the much touted CNG is also adopted by neighbouring countries? So the prices would also rise due to smuggling?

Apc is just made up of senseless characters who are cunning and out for themselves only.

Your made very good point if we filter the partisan jaundice. The problem is not APC, PDP or labor party. The problem is we the people. We are corrupt to the bone. Nigerians lack the discipline to live within their means. It is both in government and in private sector. I travelled to
the dangote refinery during the construction stage, at night you will see some of the drivers selling their tankers fuel by the roadside. whether Tinubu remove subsidy or not, the country is already bankrupted. Nigeria is a sinking boat with many holes in it. The government is borrowing money left and right to patch the many holes and the people are complaining that the water is not been removed fast enough. This titanic already hits the iceberg. At this stage, It is survival of the fittest

This is different. Those people arrested in N.Korea and Russia most often were arrested to get leverage on America. In the case of these guys, they went to overthrow government in their home country and got caught. America public is not going to be bother about them. Government is not going to show any concern especially since they are adult. America can not seek commutation since America law allows for death penalty.

Education / Re: Lagos State To Convert LASUCOM To Medical University by Dijita: 4:07pm On Aug 27
Nauttyprof:

This has no tribalism or bigotry in it. There is no sense in making the college of medicine a stand alone university. The objectives you mentioned can be achieved also within the normal university system. All that is needed is to upgrade the existing facilities and introduce other health care areas not considered in the previous or existing arrangement.

We just love doing things for name and not really making the needed impact. Some states have it, why can't Lagos have it?

Before you come for me, I am a Yoruba and a proper one (if you know what I mean). We just need to be objective on this.

I disagree with you. I am of the perspective that Lagos state should have a medical university to train more students that they are currently doing at the moment. Given the demand for Nigeria medical personnel overseas the state should put resources into graduating upward of 5000 medical personnel per year. Many will Japa but a lot will still be in Nigeria to care of Lagosians.

Education / Re: MFM Has Highest Number Of First-Class Graduates In Nigeria - Olukoya by Dijita: 1:17pm On Aug 19
thesicilian:
I highly doubt this is even true.

In order to arrive at this conclusion, he would have to take census of the total number of first class graduates in every branch of every denomination, including Deeper Life, Christ Embassy, RCCG, Winners etc. Not just in Lagos alone but in all the 36 states and FCT. Not just the pentecostals alone but also Catholics, Baptists, Anglicans, Lutherans etc.

I don't think someone who's supposedly that educated should be making such broad statements without facts to back them up.

He did not claim it to be a fact. He said "I believe". It is an opinion. If any other religion leaders dispute his claim let them say so and let there be a contest of pushing Nigeria to be the best they could be instead of selling them miracle water. FYI, I am not a member of his denomination

It's not a government job.

You may have a point but you are making judgement without facts.
Even in the USA, government build affordable housing.
In the case of this local government, it is not clear if this is build and owned by the government or hey are just using government to acquire land and build it with loan on the government name and then concession to their pals in private business.

HajimeSaito:

Wisdom, intelligence and knowledge are not strangers, they are all part of the same deal. It is impossible for an intelligent man to lack wisdom and knowledge. Indeed intelligence is the physical manifestation of both those qualities (wisdom and knowledge) and the more intelligent a man is, the better he is at applying wisdom and knowledge to the difficult task of navigating his way through life.

You may wallow in self pity for as much as you want, but no honest person will ever accept plagiarism and reinvention as signs of true intelligence in much the same way as a clever conman will never be regarded as a genius.

As much I don't disagree with you 100%. I think it is wrong to say that it is impossible for an intelligent person to lack wisdom. You can be intelligent through the acquisition of knowledge. If your parent have the resources to send you to a very good school and you are dedicated to your studies you will acquire knowledge. The understanding of the knowledge you acquire makes you to be intelligent. However, if you lack wisdom you may just be an intelligent fool. The proper application of knowledge and understanding is what is call wisdom.
In our country we have many professors, scientist and religious leaders that are considered to be intelligent but lack the wisdom to convert their knowledge and understanding to alleviate our societal problem.
"Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding" Proverb 4: 7.

Foshe16:
You guys are quick to paint a business black for errors that are mostly caused by you. I see people on this thread calling the company a fraud because they couldn't get a refund on their ticket. The first question is when you were paying for the ticket, didn't you see that the non-refundable ticket is different from the refundable ticket? You went ahead and bought the non-refundable ticket because you saw it was cheap and you are now requesting that they refund you. Y'all are pathetic. Wakanow is not a fraud, people don't just read before making purchases. if you have a problem with them I think this article can help you - https://blog.wakanow.com/is-wakanow-travel-agency-legit/

I have never used them and I don't have any opinion about them. However, based on this thread the blame goes both ways. In business it is important to communicate. In Nigeria, most businesses big and small are in the habit of ghosting customers that include big banks. You will call; them on phone the phone will ring forever without anyone answering it. Sometimes the line would be engaged. How can a business line be engaged in 2024. In some instances the line you called them on in 2023 is no longer working in 2024. When you speak to someone they will promise to call you back, email you or whatever and you will not hear from them. These are my experiences with UBA, Access bank, Zenith bank, DSTV among others.

In the case of the company under discussion, if people purchase non refundable tickets let them responded and tell us that the ticket was non refundable ticket. I know they are active on Nairaland because I have seen they positings on several occasions. They never disputed people complaining here that the specific issue is non refundable ticket.

It's a bad precedent to export primitive tribal sentiment from Africa to the UK. What could have been the possible reason naming a party after a particular tribe if it isn't to get sentiment votes based on tribe.

Even if it's Indian party or Calabar party, it will still be a thousand times very wrong.
I am surprise that UK allows them to register the party. It is divisive from my perspective
