Properties / Re: My Landlord Gave Me 6months Quit Notice When My Rent Will Due In 6months Time by dipotepede(m): 12:09pm On Mar 09, 2021
AFONJACOW:
The last landlord that did this to me I ended up living in his house for another 2 years without paying a dime, we ending it in court at the end they gave me another extra 6 months Making it 2 years and 6 months I live in his house for free , the money I saved from not paying house rent for 30 months I used it to complete my 4 rooms bungalow and invite him for the opening of my own house... Play the Ediot and his yellowbar charge and bail lawyer

Just because you are lucky to defraud the landlord, does not mean it can apply generally.

However, I doubt your story especially the part where you invited him to your house opening - the landlord must be really slow...

Hyperboles like this have placed a lot of tenants in a really dire situation where they end up losing more than they bargained for.

There is definitely a lot of mistake in the notice: the lawyer is accountable.

The letter should NOT have been a notice of any sort.

It should simply have been a letter of intent stating that you do NOT wish the tenant to renew the tenancy.

The Landlord does NOT need to tell the tenant why?

The date on the letter will do the work.

Career / Re: An Office Job Of 70K Or Home Lecture Between 90- 110k. Which Will You Prefer? by dipotepede(m): 12:37pm On May 31, 2016
Hi Op,

I am a teacher entrepreneur like you though my target market is the working professionals.

The problem you have is the problem you will always have no matter the decision you take; unless you sort it out NOW.

Your issue is double-mindedness

Even while being an entrepreneur, you still wish to work in the office setting AND when you decide to decide to work in the office setting, you will always wish to be an entrepreneur.

You need to burn the bridge when you make a decision!

I was fortunate to have worked with Access Bank and Globacom before venturing into entrepreneurship.

I struggled as entrepreneur because I did not burn the bridge to corporate work; my double-mindedness slowed my progress.

I still gazed at job opportunities and applied to different companies.

Then I got an offer that totally opened my eyes in an international company. The salary and benefit was more than what I earned monthly in net income as an entrepreneur but at that moment, I saw my mistake - I realized so many opportunities I did not see because of di-vision.

I rejected the offer based on time and too many traveling engagement.

The day I decided to let my eyes be single as an entrepreneur was the day my life totally changed. I now earn in a month what I would have earned in a year in this company.

You can google Dipo Tepede

If you choose entrepreneurship, you need to know many things:

1. Surround yourselves with entrepreneurs NOT corporate professionals

2. Choose a mentor to follow. You must STAN this mentor. The mentor does not need to know you. My teacher mentor is Pastor Poju Oyemade.

3. Expand your mind by investing in traveling outside the country with a purpose - short courses, training, etc.

4. Go to conferences and socialize with fellow entrepreneurs.

5. This is the most important thing, make a covenant with GOD concerning your business

This list is not exhaustive but I will update as it comes to mind....

Investment / Re: Investors Losing Faith In Buhari's Govt Over Lack Of Economic Direction-bloomber by dipotepede(m): 6:50pm On Oct 29, 2015
The question is not the amount. It is the relative size of the amount. VW has a market valuation of $126 billion. $18 billion is about 15% of that amount.

MTN has a market valuation of $21 billion. $5 billion is about 20% of that amount.

The entire IGR of all the states in Nigeria for the 2014 fiscal year is not up to $5 billion. How can a sane country fine a company majorly operating in a country about 25% of the National budget. It is like the US asking a company to pay a fine of about 900 billion dollars.

I agree that corporatocracy can be over themselves many times. MTN acts with impunity severally. But let's face it, the US has one of the best climate to conduct business. In Nigeria, even being the sixth largest company in Nigeria, they cannot rely on the government to stop vandalism of their expensive installations.

Two wrongs don't make a right. The NCC is right to fine iMTN. However, the relative size of the fine is outrageous.

And please, next time do not compare functioning economies with the joke called the Nigerian economy. So because US is levying billion dollar fines, a country that cannot generate enough electricity to save lives should too.

I am not pro-MTN, but I protest this outrageous show of power. If we don't curb it now. Very soon, it will be SME's attracting billion dollar fines. EVIL THRIVES WHEN GOOD MEN STAY SILENT.

I am sorry but I am ashamed of the write-up above

A foreign press writes something so ridiculous and we regard it as something to be considered.

Instead of praising the administration for having the will to follow the rule of law.

NCC did not come about the amount from thin air. MTN was warned and decided NOT to follow.

The only reason MTN is instigating this media campaign is because there is no corruption involved. I see more media instigation from media houses that can be easily bought.

So Nigeria does not lose investment with corruption but through transparency and rule of law.

I see MTN going nowhere, Nigeria is the best thing to happen to them,

This is the kind of News that discourages me about our politicians - the CBN governor is working really hard to strengthen the Naira - they are summoning him to teach them what a year 2 Economics student can explain to them. Let them appropriate their budget and powers formulate bills to solve real issues facing the country.

Even the language they are using "my brother" as if they are there for their brother rather than the country.

My dear law makers, you do not need dollars to pay your international bills hence the policy

Business / Re: The Success Of Tecno: A Business Lesson For All by dipotepede(m): 10:11pm On Dec 31, 2013
Happy New Year in advance!

I was in India for the summer and I realize a majority of Indians (a similar market to Nigeria) go for Samsung S series phones as opposed to Chinese counterpart because

1. The presence of Samsung Mobile Company (not Dealership)
2. 0% credit monthly payment for 6-month to buy their Samsung phones
3. They accept trade-in of older phones of any brand for their Samsung S series
4. The promo density in all accessible media

Despite, the incentive, I was never interested in the high-end phone.

Why?

I started using the MTK Chinese phones since January this year and I truly do not see any quality difference to the high-end phones I have been using.

In fact, I was so surprised by the performance of the 35K Naira phone at that time that I replaced my 85K Naira Bold 5 with it.

Till today, I am still using the phone and it refused to go under.

The reasons I love it:

1. The HD screen is superb and size is perfect
2. It is very fast and I can multitask
3. Yeah, its Android 4.1 and has dual sim
4. The camera quality is superb
5. The feel of the phone

I presently use it with a Nokia Lumia but I still prefer the MTK Chinese phone to the Nokia.

I am tired of correcting everyone that sees the phone that it is not HTC- it is a Chinese MTK phone and I am proud of it!

NYSC / Pmtutor Employability Program For Corp Members by dipotepede(m): 1:57pm On Jul 05, 2012
After having some experience in interview panels for fresh graduates seeking corporate employment, I can authoritatively say that most youths in Nigeria are not aware of the chasm between unemployment and employment. I remember interviewing about 400 candidates for the first stage of BAT Management Trainee Program and only 3 candidates passed i.e. if I use this sample to make an inference then I can conclude that only 0.75% of graduates are employable.

This is a very serious issue and requires immediate attention but from whom? Government? School? Parent? Let’s not take the blame too far. First, there is this notion amongst youths that corporate jobs are scarce hence youth use this perceive notion, as a crutch to justify their inadequacies – the first step to solving any issue is to admit that you have one. Second is the perception that one cannot get a job on merit – I am wondering which company wants to employ a liability.

I am sorry that time will not permit me to expatiate on the situations above but majority of the blame lies with the attitude of the youths towards corporate employment. At PMtutor, we believe there is an additional stage in the unemployment-employment chasm, called the “Employability” – it is a stage where a youth has the skills to seize any opportunity that comes. It is always better to be prepared to meet an opportunity than being unprepared to meet one.

In light of the above, PMtutor is holding PMtutor Employability Program (PEP) Seminar in Lagos where Corp members will be coached on the rudiments of being employable. Please, see below the agenda for the meeting:

1. How to write an eye-catching CV
2. Secrets to passing Aptitude Test easily
3. How to beat common Interview Questions
4. Choosing the right certification towards your career.
5. Free Project Management Training
6. Every participant gets FREE access to JOBFinder
7. Every participant gets access to our PEP JOB network program where we source jobs for Fresh Graduates and make sure they are employable.

Date: 28th of July 2012

Time: 1pm - 5pm

Fee: Completely FREE

Venue: 254, Herbert Macaulay Way, Yaba beside Zenith Bank

ONLY 25 seats are available: to be a part of the 25 delegates, kindly send your CV and scanned copy of your Corp member ID Card to: chinomso.uzoma@pmtutor.org with the subject: PMtutor Employability Program (PEP).

An email will be sent to you to confirm your seat number. Without this confirmation letter, you will not be given access to the seminar.

I will recommend the Project Management Professional Certification.

1. It is scalable

2. It is globally recognized

3. It is the highest paying certification on earth according to about dot com with an average pay out of 90K dollars per annum

4. The world is more agile and running business in a projectized manner, its important to get with the band wagon.

5. It is more than career development skill but more of a personal development in all ramification of life

You can read more about it by reading an interview I had with a PMP by clicking the link below:
