Travel / Re: Pls What Steps Should I Take To Secure A Fully Funded Scholarship Abroad?? by ditha(f): 9:10am On Sep 12, 2020
Hi,

1. Don't wait till you graduate!

2.GRE and English Exams are REQUIRED in most countries for graduate education. there are not *COMPULSORY*. Be advised to write them if you have the resources, it's a plus.
(Most first class graduates receive fully funded scholarships without any of those exam_I am a witness)

3. Lookout for fully funded scholarships like Mastercard, Daad, Erasmus, Commonwealth...you can find their threads on NL. Be versatile

4.Make good relationships with your lecturers, preferrably professors, especially your project supervisor and HOD _u will need them for recommendations later

5.Engage in volunteer/leadership activities _you will need these when write your SOP.

6.Start learning how to write good essays, research for schools and start connecting with international lecturers _ professors on social media , Twitter, LinkedIn. This will help prepare your mind

7.try some online courses _this is good for ur CV

ExpertNLer:
Hi ditha, just wanted to check that for McGill, all you submitted for nomination was CV, transcript and personal statement? or did you attach extras like IELTS for the application for nomination

"There are two ways in which you may qualify for an application fee waiver:

You can demonstrate financial need, or
You are a current participant in certain programs that qualify for a fee waiver"

I saw the above information on the website, I suggest you do a little bit research and then contact the school or Mastercard directly and ask if an mcf scholarship applicant qualifies for application fee waiver and how to go about it

Hello ditha. I've gone through the page, I noticed that each applicant has to apply to the school first and pay an application fee of $140.

Do you know anyone that has ever won the scholarship in Nigeria? The fee is expensive and I would be more comfortable paying it if I have a mentor that has previously won the scholarship. Can you help me out?

Yeah, I even got the scanned copy same day,
Lekiboboe:

Wow , really, that's wonderful....

Now that Means it's not compulsory to be in Lagos before one can do a Police Clearance Certificate
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by ditha(f): 5:51pm On Jul 10, 2020
I was able to do it for some of my colleagues that weren't in abuja, the officer sent the forms to them and they used ink to put their fingerprints, they sent it back and when it was done, the certificates were scanned and sent to them, while the hardcopies were sent to abj via waybill
Lekiboboe:

I think it can only be done in Lagos, don't know if it can be done in other States, probably someone in the forum can respond to that

And it can't be gotten for him, ur brother needs to be there in person, cos all the FINGERPRINTS on his TEN Fingers is needed for the P.C.C.

Omah7979:

Also , since I don’t live in Lagos can someone get the police certificate for me?

My program is two years long and it is research based
fratermathy:

Partaking in remote classes is not the issue. You must have your study permit or LOI for that gamble to favour you, except you intend to complete the entire degree online. If you have the above, you can easily get a 4G data bundle and use zoom seamlessly. Your University's online library can give you the articles and books that you'll need.

A typical zoom class will take between 300mb-600mb (could be more). Then factor in electricity and a good device (laptop is better). If you can risk it, then go for it.

MasterCard scholarship is fully funded and most of the programs are course-based. MSc Forestry is the only research based program under MCF at UBC
Deltayankeeboi:
Fully funded? It seems course based masters rarely get scholarship

Thanks for your input,

Do you know if PGD's offers funding?

Lekiboboe:

Well, Well, I doubt her chances, cos the minimum requirements for M.SC in Canada is 2nd Class Upper (2.1)
And it also depends if its a Course-based M.SC she's going for or a Thesis-based M.SC
And her Second option is a Graduate Diploma, her CGPA should qualify her for a PGD in Mathematics
She should check google for this school & the program
Graduate Diploma in Mathematics Education
York University, Ontario

All da best!!!
