The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has introduced a new Tax Administration Solution (TaxPro-Max) to ease tax compliance and modernise tax administration in the country.



Dr Abdullahi Ahmad, Director, Communications and Liaison Department of FIRS disclosed this in a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday.

Ahmad quoted the Executive Chairman, FIRS, Mr Muhammad Nami, as saying that “TaxPro-Max enables seamless registration, filling, payment of taxes, automatic credit of withholding tax and other credits to the Taxpayer’s accounts, among other features.

“The TaxPro-Max also provides a single-view to Taxpayers for all transactions with the Service”. The TaxPro-Max platform is accessible at www.taxpromax.firs.gov.ng.

“From June 7, 2021, the TaxPro-Max becomes the channel for filing Naira-denominated tax returns in the country.”

According to him, all taxpayers have been notified that all naira-denominated tax returns are to be filed via the TaxPro-Max Solution in order to generate the obligatory Document Identity Number (DIN).

He added that henceforth, taxpayers would not be able to pay without DIN; as such taxpayers wanting to submit their tax returns manually must visit the relevant tax offices.

He said FIRS personnel would be on hand to assist them upload the returns and generate the DIN.

The family of a Nigerian man who moved to the US in 2016 with his Nigerian wife are asking for answers after the wife called them in 2018 to tell them her husband is dead yet hasn't provided any proof or body till date.



Sister, Omorinbola Mojisola Ijatuyi said her brother, Omorinbola Olatunji and his wife Tosin Lawal travelled to Illinois, US, in Nov 2016.



On Jan 20, 2018, she said Tosin called to tell them her husband Olatunji is dead.





They consoled her and asked for photos of his body and his burial since she said she was going to bury him over there.





However, till date, she has reportedly not sent any proof of her husband's death, neither has she been specific about how he died.



Mojisola said she tried to reach out to Tosin, to ask why she hasn't sent the photos but she blocked her on Facebook.



She said the woman has also denied them access to the child she had with their brother.



She added that Tosin's mother in Nigeria has also threatened her family for demanding evidence of their son's death from Tosin.



Mojisola released a cry for help on Facebook, writing: "Pls, everyone in the world that can help,we need your help, because my family is so helpless.





"My brother who is in this picture Omorinbola Olatunji and the wife Tosin Lawal travelled to US( Illinois) in year Nov 2016, and everything was going on smoothly between them, she even gave birth to a child on getting there, but after a year and 2 months the story changed.



"Our brother wife called us one early morning on Sunday 20th of January 2018 and informed us that our brother is dead, we were all shocked and in deep sorrow but we consoled her and encouraged her to be strong and told her to just send pictures of him been buried so that we can see him for the last time before his laid to rest. She told us that CAC church South exchange Chicago 2 were the one that did the funeral.



"Surprising our wife refused to send to us any evidence regarding my brother death, she said that the pictures were to large for her to send to us, later she said her phone crashed and she lost all pictures of his burial and the incident scene, she couldn't not even explain what killed him, she said 2 different stories , she also stopped communicating with all of us including my aged parents,she did not even consider that my daddy who was the one that sponsored them both to US just had accident then,after a while I tried all means to contact her I asked her why was she not sending those pictures that we requested earlier, she became very angry and unfollow me on Facebook ,she also denied us access to the child.



"Also her mummy who reside at (no [redacted] street Mushin Lagos) threatened
my parents that they are not supposed to ask for any evidence regarding my brother death and they should warn their children not to post anything relating to incident online. Even after inviting my parents all the way from Akoko to Lagos, she could not give them and evidence to prove my brother death, she said we should just take it like that.

The Federal Government and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) authorities are currently discussing the resumption of flight operations between the two countries and resolving perceived discriminatory travel protocols against Nigerians.




This development was announced by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr. Boss Mustapha, in Abuja. He noted that the outcome of the talks will be in the interest of Nigeria.

“On Monday, markets must be fully operational. Anybody that the store is not opened, will forfeit the store. I ask the security agencies to massively deploy security people to protect Ebonyians everywhere.







This no movement order is foolishness. We will not go into any form of slavery. There will be free movement throughout today, tomorrow, and ongoing.







I challenged the youths, the local government Chairmen and the politicians, the stakeholders, the security agencies to ensure that nobody is molested and I have banned any form of procession or gathering till further notice in Ebonyi State.
