In a new move designed to reduce price and ease logistics inherent in the purchase of its products, the management of Dangote Cement Plc has signed a pact with the foremost e-commerce platform Jumia Nigeria to offer for sale its cement to customers online.

At the unveiling of the deal in Lagos, Dangote Cement, Key Account Director, Chux Mogbolu said Dangote Cement was happy to partner with online shopping giant, in a bid to make Dangote cement available with ease to customers.

According to the deal, Nigerians and corporate bodies wishing to purchase a minimum of 300 bags of 50kg of Dangote Cement and above could now order on Jumia from the comfort of their rooms at a reasonable price of N2,500 per bag as opposed to how much is sold in the open market and see them delivered to any place of their choice without any extra cost for transportation.

Mogbolu, however, disclosed that the purchase would only be within Lagos, Port- Harcourt and Abuja for now.

He said: “Dangote Cement decided to work with Jumia Nigeria based on its credibility and excellent performance over the years in online shopping management”, adding that the new initiative would help arrest the scams perpetrated by online fraudsters who deceived the people by asking them to come and purchase Dangote Cement for N1000 per bag.

“For now, the pilot scheme is live in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt, but we can extend to other cities depending on the level of demand and performance of the new deal”.

“With the deal, Nigerians in need of seamless supply of cement from Dangote can now place order and pay online and wait for the delivery in record time from any of Dangote’s nearest cement plant to Lagos, Port Harcourt or Abuja.

“We are starting with Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ) of 300, 600 and 900. We may increase depending on demand surge as time goes on,” Mogbolu explained.

Speaking on the deal too, Chief Executive Officer of Jumia Nigeria, Juliet Anammah said the deal with Dangote Cement was part of efforts to deepen service delivery on Jumia Nigeria online platform.

She said she was of the belief that the deal would be beneficial to all parties involved and deepen further online shopping in Nigeria as obtained all over the world.

The Jumia Nigeria boss reflected on the 2017 Black Friday Festival ran by her organization and said the Festival has attracted more than 14 million visits since the commencement of the campaign on November 13th.

According to her, “the annual sales event, which was initiated in Nigeria in 2013 by Jumia remains the busiest and largest shopping day of the year on both online and offline stores. This year’s explosive Black Friday numbers demonstrates the increasing capacity and flexibility of the online retail space in Nigeria.”

“We deliver to the 36 states across Nigeria, and are able to reach neighborhoods and shoppers who traditionally have not had access to a wide variety of products and deals. This year we also see the increasing interest in groceries and other FMCG products which reflect the increasing relevance of Black Friday to the average Nigerian.”

Nigerian professional dancer Odumewu Debbie, a.k.a Pinki Debbie has broken the previous record held for the longest individual marathon dance.

With her feat, she joins other Nigerians like dance queen, Kaffy in the Guinness world record.

The record for the longest dance marathon was previously held by an Indian woman, Kalamandalam Hemaletha who danced 123 hours 15 minutes.

Debbie actually started on Friday 24th November, 2017 and has since then, attracted various individuals to the Palms Mall, Lekki, Lagos State where she is holding out for a World record dance time.

As at 12:00am on November 23rd, 2017, Pinki Debbie has danced for over 124 hours and she will be ending the challenge by 4pm on November 23rd, 2017.

She has the grace to rest and be attended to by her Medical doctor for 5 minutes in every hour but she has intelligently maximized her time by dancing for 4 hours straight, which would afford her straight 20 minutes of rest.

Man nabbed with seven human heads.
A 25-year-old ritualist, identified simply as Olayinka, caught with seven human skulls was paraded yesterday by the Kwara State Police Command, in Ilorin.

The Commissioner of Police, Kwara State command, Lawan Ado, said, “Upon credible intelligence gathering by the command’s eagle eyed operatives, along Ajase-Ipo road, on November 21 at about 5 am one Olayinka and Tunde a. k. a Bante now at large, were seen with a bag, While Olayinka was arrested Tunde took to his heels.”

Ado said seven human heads were found in the bag after a search.

Confessing to the crime, the suspect said he exhumed the heads at Muslim cemetery, Igbo Owu, in company of his friend, Bante, who took him to the cemetry.

He said he was an herbalist and intended to use the heads for ritual purposes.

The Police boss, however, said the fleeing suspect would apprehended, adding that the suspects would be arraigned soon.

Online newspaper, Sahara Reporters, has reported that the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Danjuma an officer responsible for the extra-judicial of killing five young auto spare parts traders and a young woman on June 7, 2005, in Apo township, a satellite settlement at the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja has been reinstated by the Nigerian Police Force.

The victims, Ekene Isaac Mgbe, Ifeanyi Ozor, Chinedu Meniru, Paulinus Ogbonna, Anthony Nwokike, and Augustina Arebu, were murdered by a contingent of policemen led by Danjuma at a police checkpoint while returning from a nightclub.

The directive for the officer’s reinstatement was contained in a Police wireless message (DTO 1718000/11/2017) addressed to the Police Service Commission. According to the wireless message, obtained by SaharaReporters claims the reinstatement of the officer Danjuma and other police officers included in the message following their successful “appeal of their dismissal from the Force”. The officers are Danjuma Ibrahim, a Deputy Commissioner of Police; Fausat Azeez Oduwole, an Assistant Commissioner of Police; Bethram C Onuoha, Chief Superintendent, Okwuonu Allwell, a Chief Superintendent; Nonyerem Ejike Akubuike; a Deputy Superintendent of Police; Barakiya Yusuf and Onuorah Emmanuel, both Assistant Superintendents of Police. However, Oseni Tajudeen, whose appeal was rejected, had his dismissal upheld.

DCP Ibrahim Danjuma, the wireless message showed, will be paid the arrears of his salary dating back to June 18, 2005, and sent on a refresher course. Danjuma was revealed as the officer who shot some of the traders and stranged the only female traveling that night they encountered the bloodthirsty police team.

The killing of the six persons provoked national outrage. The police had claimed that the victims, aged between 21 and 25 years, were members of a robbery gang that had shot at the officers at a checkpoint.

However, a judicial panel of inquiry set up by former President Olusegun Obasanjo dismissed the police account as false and recommended the trial of the officers for extra-judicial killings.

The trial dragged for over a decade until two of the officers were sentenced to death in March 2017, curiously, Danjuma was freed by the judge who sat on the case. The officers accused of the killings and eight other police witnesses eventually testified before the panel of inquiry that Ibrahim, the Deputy Commissioner of Police and the most senior of the accused, had ordered the killings.

The report of the panel stated that the victims were at a nightclub located at Gimbiya Street, Area 11, in Abuja that night of June 7, 2005, when they had a face-off with Ibrahim after the only female among the victims, rejected Ibrahim’s romantic advances.

Obanikoro leaves PDP for APC
Former Minister of State for Defence and member of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, will be officially decamping to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Obanikoro confirmed his plan to leave the PDP in an interview on Channels Television.

He stated that he would be announcing his defection in Lagos by the weekend.

However, the politician did not disclose reasons for dumping his current party.

Obanikoro served as a minister under the administratation of past president Goodluck Jonathan and also contested the for the PDP ticket for the office of the Lagos state Governor in 2015, which he lost to to Jimi Agbaje.

Fire guts Warri market, consumes shops and property.
A fire accident which occurred on Tuesday night razed Ogbe-Ijoh market in Warri, Delta State, destroying no fewer than 500 shops and goods worth millions of naira.

Naija News gathered that the fire which started at about 11:30pm and lasted till 1:30am, Wednesday morning, was as a result of electrical surge in one of the makeshift shops in the market.

It was learnt that the fire was extinguished by the officials of the State Fire Service.

Punch reports that the affected traders lamented that their source of livelihood had been destroyed.

Mrs. Queen Ajemitolu, the leader of Ogbe-Ijoh Market Traders Women Union, said, “The fire could have started when power was restored.”

She therefore, called on the state government to come to their rescue, and provide boreholes, as well as other basic amenities in the market.

The President of the Ijaw Youth Council, Mr. Eric Omare, also called on the state government to build befitting structures in the market to avoid persistent fire outbreak.

The Commissioner representing the Ijaw Ethnic Nationality on the board of the Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Chief Favour Izoukumor, came to the scene of the incident, promised the traders that he would liaise with the government for help.

“My concern is that there should be unity to maintain peace in this market because we have had clashes in the past; may be when there is unity this type of fire will be avoided.

“The country is facing recession, but we are about to overcome the challenge. I believe the governor will intervene,” he said.

7 skulls, guns, other items discovered in militant camp – Military
The Nigerian Army has revealed its discovery of a collection of arms and seven decomposed human skulls, following the raid of a militant camp in Omoko, Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The spokesperson of the 6 Division in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, Colonel Aminu Iliyasu, made the revelation to journalists on Tuesday.

Col. Iliyasu said five men and two women were arrested during the raid of the camp.

He accused several militants and their leader, Don Wanny,who is on the run, of abducting and killing a number of innocent citizens in Rivers and Bayelsa states.

According to Iliyasu, the military recovered from the camp one General Purpose Machine Gun, two AK 47 rifles, three FN rifle magazines, 18 AK 47 magazines, 39 7.62mm Nato ammunition and 20 9mm ammunition.

Other items recovered include 7.62mm ammunition, five Icom and Mag hand-held radios, two 25kg bags of cannabis, nine pairs of military camouflage, 10 human skulls and several bones.

Iliyasu said: “On Monday, we received a tip-off and thereafter, troops raided the camp and shrines of a notorious militant, cultist, kidnapper and an ardent oil thief popularly known as Don Wanny. After about an hour of gun fight, our troops overpowered the criminal elements due to superior fire power that sent the criminals scampering for safety.”

He added that “It is believed that the main culprit, Don Wanny was not at the location during the encounter but efforts are on to track, arrest and bring him to justice,” he said.

Iliyasu appreciated residents in the area for supporting security operatives. He hence enjoined them to continually provide timely and vital information that would lead to the arrest of criminals in the state and its environs.

Thousands of Zimbabweans poured onto the streets of Harare after President Robert Mugabe resigned on Tuesday, and cars were hooting in the streets.

Some people were holding posters of Zimbabwean army chief Constantino Chiwenga and former vice president Emmerson Mnangagwa, whose sacking this month triggered the military takeover that forced Mugabe to resign.

“We are just so happy that things are finally going to change,” Togo Ndhlalambi, 32, a hairdresser, told AFP.

Mugabe had ruled Zimbabwe almost unopposed since the country won independence from Britain but his efforts to position his wife Grace as his successor triggered fury in the military that had underpinned his regime.

His grip on power was shattered last week when the armoured military vehicles took to the streets, blockaded parliament and soldiers placed the president under house arrest in an operation that had all the hallmarks of a coup.

But instead his generals stressed they were simply “arresting” criminals around Mugabe — a reference to supporters of Grace — and even allowed the one-time liberation hero to appear at a public function and deliver a TV speech stressing that he retained control.

Ekiti Govt passes death penalty law on cult members.
A bill which bans secret cults, terrorism, has been passed into law in Ekiti state.

The bill which assented by the Governor of the State, Ayodele Fayose, at the Government House in Ado-Ekiti, was passed into law on Monday, 2oth November, 2107.

The bill states that any person caught in the act will get death sentence.

While passing the bill, Fayose said the signing confirmed his administration’s unflinching determination to tackle terrorism in the state.

Meanwhile, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Idowu Adelusi, Governor Fayose expressed his displeasure at the resurfacing of terrorism in Ekiti, particularly among students in institutions of higher learning.

He said, “From now, any person who is a member of a secret cult, whether or not the person is in possession or in control of any offensive weapon but commits the offence, is liable to conviction to death.

“Any person who gives financial or material support or assistance to a secret cult or, in any manner, sponsor activities of a secret cult, commits an offence under this law and is liable or conviction to imprisonment for life.”

Also contained in the statement, Fayose declared that anyone who aids the convening secret cult meetings or activities in places such as houses, night clubs, hotels and other residential areas would be sentenced to life imprisonment.

The governor further stated that buildings where any cult-related activity are organized would be forfeited to the state government, while the owner of such structure would be sentenced to five years imprisonment, without an option of fine.

The Ekiti State helmsman, who re-emphasised his administration’s zero tolerance for cultism and terrorism, said lives and property of the people would continue to be protected.

Three students of Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, were killed within 10 days, in attacks suspected to be related to rivalry among cult groups.

Police arrest two robbery suspects in Niger.
Two suspected robbers terrorising, Tunga, Minna, have been arrested by the police in Niger State.

Naija News gathered that the suspects, Shehu Illiyasu, 29, and Ibrahim Aliyu,18, were apprehended after dispossessing one Adamu Mohammed of his motorcycle worth N230,000 and inflicted injuries on him.

Confirming the incident, the command’s Public Relations Officer, Abigail Unaeze, told Northern City News that the operatives recovered a stick the suspects used to attack their victim.

The Police PRO said Illiyasu confessed to the crime, saying he conspired with Aliyu Tafa in Kaduna State to rob the victim.

Illiyasu also told newsmen that he committed the crime due to hardship.

He said, “I don’t have a job to take care of myself, and that is why I rob people to make ends meet. I can’t stay without money.”

“I have no remorse, if given the opportunity again I will commit the crime because the situation is bad. Nothing works in this country, people are suffering a lot, ” he added.

The police therefore, said the suspects would be charged to court after investigations have been concluded.

Kidnapped hospital Chief Medical Director in Ebonyi, two others freed.
The Chief Medical Director, CMD, Emeka Onwe Ogah, of the Federal Teaching hospital in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, who was abducted on Thursday by gunmen has regained freedom.

It would be recalled that the Director and one of his administrative officers were kidnapped around Ajaokuta, Kogi State.

Naija News gathered that the Director of Administration in the Hospital, Christopher Ogbu, and the Director of Finance, Sunday Ugama, who were kidnapped alongside Ogah, were also freed in the early hours of Sunday.

It was learnt that the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi, Emmanuel Uzor, confirmed their release, but details of how they were freed were not disclosed.

Uzor said: “The true situation is that the victims have been released. I don’t know if there was ransom or not, but all I know is that the governor ensured their safe release. He was worried about their kidnap and urged security agents to assist to ensure they were released.

“The governor has absolute confidence in the police and other security agents.”

The Chairman, Nigeria Medical Association in the state, Austin Ikwudinma, commended the state government as well as security agencies for their swift intervention in the case.

“We want to specially thank the government of Ebonyi State for keeping to its promise. We are happy they did what they promised for the release of our colleagues. We want to thank people who showed concern during this trying period,” he said.

The federal government social intervention scheme, N-Power, has released further guidelines for candidates willing to participate in the scheme.

Recall the administrators of the scheme, earlier announced to candidates who registered in 2017 that they would be able to check their status by 11:30 pm today, Monday, 20th November, 2017.

The scheme has now revealed six (6) steps for candidates to check and confirm if they have been pre-selected for the N-Power volunteer scheme.

1. Candidates are advised to log on to the N-Power official website @ www.npower.gov.ng

2. Click on “check your pre-selection status”.

3. Type in your name or phone number or email address or BVN in the search box.

4. Your name will pop up if you have been pre-selected.

5. You will receive an SMS and email congratulating you on your pre-selection.

6. Prepare for physical verification between November 27th and December 8th, 2017.

The N-Power Volunteer Corps is the post-tertiary engagement initiative for Nigerians between 18 and 35. It is a paid volunteering programme of a 2-year duration. The graduates will undertake their primary tasks in identified public services within their proximate communities.

-President Buhari reveals government is working silently to secure the release of remaining Chibok girls.

-The girls were kidnapped from their school in Borno state by the Boko Haram sect.

Remaining Chibok girls will re-unite with their parents soon.
President Muhammadu Buhari, has given assurances that the remaining Chibok schoolgirls still in Boko Haram captivity will be released soon.

He made the promise on Thursday at the book presentation entitled: ‘Making Steady, Sustainable Progressive for Nigeria’s Peace and Prosperity: A mid-term scorecard on the President Muhammadu Buhari Administration.’

“During the year it was my great pleasure to secure the release of 102 Chibok school girls. We are doing our best quietly and effectively as possible to get the rest released,” Buhari said.

“We are working day and night with our international partners to release the remaining girls as soon as possible, as well as women and children still on captivity.”

“On the current issues on herdsmen/farmers clashes, kidnapping and armed robberies within the confines of our limited resources, we are giving top priority to security,” he said.

Recall that Parents of the Chibok schoolgirls, abducted since April 2014, recently wrote a letter to Buhari, in which they expressed sadness over the fate of their daughters who are yet to return from Boko Haram captivity.

Boko Haram insurgents abducted 276 girls from the Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno state.

After reaching a prisoner-swap deal with the federal government, the Boko Haram group, released 82 of the girls in May 2016, and five months later, 21 other girls were also freed.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been drawn in Pot 4 of the 2018 FIFA World Cup draw which will hold on Friday, December 1 at the Moscow’s State Kremlin Palace.

Nigeria finds itself in Pot 4 courtesy of its 41st position on the October FIFA Ranking which was used for the allocation of the Pots.

A ranking of all the 32 teams that qualified for the 2018 World Cup, sees Nigeria ranked in 22nd position.

The first eight teams (from the countries going to the World Cup) are placed in Pot 1 followed by the next eight countries.

This means that Nigeria may face countries like Russia, Germany, Brazil, Portugal, Argentina, Belgium, Poland and France in the group stage of the tournament.

According to FIFA’s principle, no teams from the same confederation, with the exception of UEFA, which could have up to two teams in the same group, will be drawn into the same group.

This means the Super Eagles won’t be playing any of the qualified African countries at the group stage of the World cup.

Born in the heart of South London, Maleek Berry – real name Maleek Shoyebi – grew up listening to some of the biggest names in R&B from Tevin Campbell, Boyz II Men, Jodeci and of course the one and only King of Pop, Michael Jackson. It was at this time, at just the tender age of 14 that he saw young stars break into the American music industry. Although worlds apart from the shores of London this did not deter him, but rather spark his ever growing love of the music industry.

Like most, Berry started off his career in the church, forming a group with two close friends. Managing to get his hands on a little pre-production setup – Fruity Loops – the group began writing, producing and performing their own songs at the ages of 14 and 15, only to disband at 16. However, the experience didn’t leave Berry disillusioned, as he was the brains behind a lot of the group’s records and they all remain very close till this day.

Fast Forward to 2009, Berry spent years working on his craft in between formal education – attaining a Bachelors degree in Computer Science – learning to play the piano by ear, which has played a major part in the maturity of his sound. Even with this big achievement he knew deep down what his true calling was – music.

Being the creative soul that he is, Maleek Berry wasn’t satisfied with only working on his home turf, but wanted to spread his wings to the Motherland. In the summer of 2011 he flew out to Nigeria for a family holiday, but managed to take advantage of this trip and make great connections that would later change his status to an international producer. Through good friend and artist Davido, Berry was able to spark relationships with artists such as Wizkid , Naeto C, Wande Coal – of which he is currently working on records for. He also went on the produce the hit ‘Carolina’ (one of the biggest singles in Nigeria in 2011/2012) by Sauce Kid featuring Davido, which ushered Sauce Kid back into the Nigerian music scene after a brief hiatus and his 2013 smash hit single “The Matter” Featuring Wizkid. Maleek Berry has gone on to produce hits such as “The Matter” with Wizkid, “Baby Hello” for Wande Coal, “Lagos To Kampala” for Runtown and Wizkid and much more.

The last quarter of 2015 was another big one for Maleek Berry as he went on to executive produced Nigerian star Wande Coal’s highly anticipated sophomore album “WANTED”, which earned him a lot of respect in the music industry in Africa. Not only did he produce 9 songs on the album but also managed to nab a feature on Track 11 “Weekend” which has become a favourite with the ladies.

After building a solid production catalog and name for himself in the industry , October 2015 marked a major shift in Maleek Berry’s career as he took center stage this time with his first official solo release as an Artist entitled “For My People” featuring UK Rap artist Sneakbo. With positive reviews an official video was released in January 2016 and play-listed on MTV Base UK & MTV Base Africa, including many others. The video “For My People” reached 100k views online in under 4 weeks, giving Maleek Berry a massive introduction into his solo career.

In April 2016 Maleek released the self-produced smash hit “Kontrol” which has gone on to become viral on the internet gathering millions of streams online across different platforms. The official video was released on his birthday in August and managed get over 100k views in less than a week.

Even with all his achievements to date, who knows what the future holds for this young producer. In his own words he plans to, “Create timeless music that will hopefully last longer than his generation.”

At least three persons were killed at Abbatoir area of Agege, Lagos when a train derailed this morning.

Lagos State police spokesman, Olarinde Famous-Cole who confirmed the incident noted that the train rammed into a trailer, injuring many and leaving three of the victims feared dead.

“We just got the information. Our policemen and those attached to the railway command are in control of the situation, I cannot confirm any death, but i can tell you that some persons were injured.” Famous- Cole said.

” We shall be able to furnish you with details later please.”
