Swallow this your grammar. You don't invite fire and expect to get water. Rocks can result in fatal injuries if properly aimed at a target. You don't assault security agents on duty call. I am sure you wanted the security agents to have left the place for the youths for overrun. No, it does not make sense.

I admit that we have a security force that seriously needs reforms. But let us apportion blames where they belong. In this case, the youths goofed. The officers may have taken an extreme measure, however, it falls within self-defence. Unfortunately sometimes, self-defence can be fatal to the attacker.
But you'll agree with me that that doesn't just justify the killlings perpetrated by the security agents, no matter how provocative they might have felt.

Continue defending useless youths.
Not defending them, just stating the obvious.

1Rubber bullets can cause severe injuries which can lead to death too.

2.A stone can cause injuries that can lead to death(and note that the cops deployed here very likely don't have adequate helmets).

3.Assaulting a police officer is illegal under the law.

4.Why are you defending uncivilzed behaviour by the mob.?? Do you prefer rule of anarchy to rule of law??

You're right with your assertions, but killing them out-rightly is the not the way to go about it, I belief there's a better way our security can apply force in this type of situation.

So, someone throws stones at the Police, and expects the Police not to retaliate?

The thing is, assault and attacking the police is a crime. And the Police have every right to defend themselves. A stone is a lethal weapon that can kill, or cause severe injury.

Sorry, but you don't throw stones at the Police. If you are dissapointed about election results...try the courts.
What a logic, you are as barbaric and backward as those security agents you're defending.

Whatever happened to rubber bullet or using shield to wade off the protesters!

About Xenophobia...
Let's quit the hypocrisy.
It is appalling..
Truth is,a typical Nigerian man doesn't care about what happened to some Nigerians in South Africa.
We are just trying to follow the trend and appear like good patriotic citizens who love each other..
Forget the posts and hate speech on twitter ,Facebook etc..
It is just for social media attention..
I repeat,as long as the killing of Nigerians do not affect the price of garri,a typical Nigerian doesn't care...
I woke up and decided to write about it too..
But I'm so sorry i cannot pretend to care when I really don't..
After the whole fracas,Nigerians will go back to their usual daily routine.
If I'm killed today,I will be buried and nobody will care.
We will post about it,empathize with the families of the victims, make it seem like we love and care about these people, but in reality,we don't ..
For me,I don't know them, and they haven't helped me in any way before so I swear,I do not care..
This is the bitter truth..
There is something fundamentally wrong with an African man's brain and way of reasoning..
Are you ALRIGHT? What gibberish is this, if you lack empathy, everyone ain't that way.

Nairaland / General / Internet Fraudster Forfeits N230m To FG by dont8(m): 6:33am On Jun 26, 2019
In grating the application, Sai’du ordered the applicant, the EFCC, to publish the interim forfeiture order in any national newspaper for the respondent, Reuben, or anyone who was interested in the sums of money to show cause, why the money should not be permanently forfeited to the Federal Government.

In compliance with the order, the commission had published the interim forfeiture order a newspaper and subsequently filed a motion on notice dated June 19, 2019.

An internet fraudster, Mr. Dehinbo Oluwatobi Reuben, has forfeited N210,287,697.45, N5,320,373.40, N15,008,809.79 and $80.59 to the Federal Government.

Justice Saliu Sai’du of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, yesterday, ordered the final forfeiture of the money to the Federal Government.

Similarly, on the same day, in Ilorin, Kwara, Justice M. Abdulgafar of Kwara State High Court, convicted and sentenced an internet fraudster, Ajayi Temitope Charles, to 35 years in prison without an option of fine

Charles was first arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on March 13, 2019, for engaging in internet fraud.

Justice Sai’du had, on May 16, 2019, ordered an interim forfeiture of the money to the Federal Government, following an ex-parte application filed by the EFCC.

At yesterday’s proceedings, the judge, upon hearing the applicant’s motion on notice, supporting affidavit and written address, ordered the final forfeiture of the various sums of money found by the commission in the various accounts of the respondent domiciled in Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) to the Federal Government.

The respondent, a member of a syndicate of fraudsters, which specialised in identity theft, wire fraud and mail fraud, had been arrested following intelligence report received by the commission.

The EFCC spokesman, Tony Orilade, said: “Investigation revealed that the syndicate obtained the stolen Personal Identification Information (PIN) of over 250,000 individuals in the US and used the details to file fraudulent Federal and State tax returns. The syndicate obtained monetary value on the fraudulent tax returns, using prepaid cards registered with the stolen information and third party bank accounts.”
Speaking on Charles issue, Orilade noted that a five-count charge was levelled against the accused.

One of the charges reads: “That you, Ajayi Temitope Charles, popularly known as Teresa Simons on or about the 27th of February, 2019, in Ilorin within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, with intent to defraud, had in your possession document, which you knew contained false pretence, and thereby, committed an offence contrary to Section 6 and 8(b) of the Advance Fee Fraud and other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006 and punishable under Section 1(3) of the same Act.”

He had pleaded “not guilty” to the charges, prompting the commencement of his trial. However, at the end of the trial, Justice Abdulgafar ruled that the EFCC proved its case against him, “beyond reasonable doubts.”

The judge held that: “The evidence of PW1, Olamide Sadiq, was left unchallenged by the defendant, all the chats and text messages were printed from his email address in his presence. I have considered the testimonies of the PW1, this honourable court is of the opinion that the PW1 is a witness of truth, the accused person indeed was in possession of fake documents, and the prosecution has sufficiently linked the defendant to the email address.”

Delivering judgement, Abdulgafar further rejected as untrue, the testimony of the convict where he claimed that the police brought him to the office of the EFCC on the day of his arrest following his inability to pay the money they requested for.

He said: “The story of the defendant being sent to the EFCC because he did not pay bribe to the police could not hold water, he lied to the court. I do not believe the evidence of the defendant, and the prosecution has proved this case beyond reasonable doubt.”

Thereafter, Justice Abdulgafar pronounced him guilty as charged.

Crime / Cook Who Killed Credit Switch Boss, Opeyemi Bademosi, Sentenced To Life Imprison by dont8(m): 1:01am On Jun 26, 2019
An Igbosere High Court in Lagos on Tuesday sentenced a Béninoise cook, Sunday Anani, to life imprisonment for the murder of his employer, the Chief Executive Officer of Credit Switch Ltd., Opeyemi Bademosi.

Justice Mobolanle Okikiolu-Ighile convicted Anani following his plea of guilty to a one-count charge of voluntary manslaughter.

Anani, 22, was initially charged by the Lagos State Government on two counts of murder and armed robbery.

He pleaded not guilty but when trial began, Anani entered a plea bargain agreement for a lesser charge.

He then pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter with the help of his counsel, Mrs Aderenra Adeyemi, the Director of the Office Defender

He, therefore, confessed that he stabbed Chief Bademosi to death in his Ikoyi, Lagos, home, while trying to rob him.

He also confirmed that he was the person caught on closed-circuit television camera fleeing the scene of the crime.

The defendant’s initial plea of not guilty would have fetched him a death sentence by hanging, if found guilty.

Before sentencing the defendant, the court asked his counsel, if he had an allocutus – plea for leniency.

Adeyemi said: “The defendant is a young man and he is remorseful about what he has done. He is a first-time offender, there is no evidence that he committed any crime before this.

“Our humble application is to urge your lordship to grant a sentence of years certain.

“However, if my lordship is mindful of upholding what we have agreed in the plea bargain, we will accept the sentence therein.”

The Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions, Ms Titilayo Shitta-Bey, opposed the prayer.

Shitta-Bey said: “We urge this court to grant the maximum sentence for the offence of voluntary manslaughter as charged.”

She said that there were some “special aggravating circumstances” surrounding the case, such as breach of trust.

“The defendant was employed into the home of his boss, entrusted with a high level of responsibilities as a cook.

“Barely three days after resumption of duty, the defendant cut short the life of a man that gave him a new lease of life, depriving him the privilege of enjoying life with his wife and children.

“Judicial notice must be taken of the fact that this act of violence by domestic employees against their employers is becoming rampant.

“The sentence must reflect that this conduct is unacceptable to our society; we must send the message to others of like minds.”

After, the submissions, Okikiolu-Ighile passed judgement on Anani.

The judge said: “it is annoying that a young man like this will involve himself in this kind of crime. What did he hope to achieve in life involving himself in this kind of crime, I ask?

“It is very painful that a young man, who the family of Bademosi welcomed in their home as a cook, ended up causing so much havoc and endless pain.

“It is even more painful that the defendant had no motive of working but came into the house with a criminal intention to steal, kill and to destroy.

“The defendant admitted, ‘I killed him.’ This was an innocent and unsuspecting family”.

Upholding the plea bargain and sentence agreement, the judge held: “Sunday Adefonou Anani is hereby sentenced to life imprisonment.

“The term of imprisonment shall commence from today, June 25, 2019.”

The prosecution had said that the defendant committed the murder on Oct. 31, 2018, at Park View Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos.

It said that the defendant stabbed the deceased, aged 67, to death with a knife, and stole his valuables, in contravention of Sections 223 and 297 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The prosecution called two witnesses, including the deceased’s wife Ebunola Bademosi, who testified as to how she found her husband in a pool of blood.

While trial was going on, the defendant through a letter dated May, 20, written through his counsel, expressed his willingness to voluntarily plead guilty to a lesser offence, which was thereafter accepted.

Crime / My Father Disvirgined Me, Raped My Sisters For 9 Years 16-year-old Girl by dont8(m): 6:38am On Jun 25, 2019
An Ikeja Sexual offences and Domestic Violence Court, Lagos, remanded a 55-year-old man, Eze Chukwuma, in prisons for allegedly defiling two of his daughters.

Chukwuma was arraigned for allegedly defiling his two daughters aged 16 and 17 (names withheld) for almost 9 years (from 2008 till 2017).

The defendant was docked on a two-count charge of defilement contrary to Section 137 of the Criminal Law, CH. C17. Vol 3 Laws of Lagos of State, 2015.

The Lagos State prosecutor, A. A. George told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offences between the years of 2008 to 2017 at No 2. Agbeke Close, Iyana Close, Iyana-Era, Coker Bus-stop, Ijanikin, Lagos.

However, according to a police statement by one of the daughters, a 16-year-old victim, the defendant began having sexual intercourse with his daughters after his wife died in February 2008.

The 16-year-old girl, an SS2 student, said that her father takes turns with her sisters every night and was the person who disvirgined her in 2008.

In her written complaint at Ojo Police Station against her father, the girl said that one of her elder sisters (name withheld) ran away from their house after she could no longer endure her father incessant sexual harassment.

“The whole thing started when my mother died in February 2008. My father came and brought us (me and my younger sister) back from the village in Ebonyi State to Lagos. My father started harassing my elder sister (name withheld) sexually.

“But two of my elder sisters were already staying with him then. When we got to the house, we couldn’t find one of my sisters.

“So I asked my eldest sister, Adaeze (Psuedo name) and she said that Ngozi (pseudo name) ran away from the house when she could no longer bear the sexual harassment from daddy.

“She said that daddy was sleeping with her and she ran away because it became too much.

“My eldest sister stayed and endured everything because she would soon finish secondary. My eldest sister later gained admission into the University and since then had not come home either has she spoken with my father.

After she left, we packed to Iyana-Era, and by that time, I was now left at home with my two of other sisters.

” At night, my father will ask us to separate ourselves so that he can sleep with one person before going to the other person. Sometimes, he would even threaten to stab us if we refuse to allow him to have his way.

” So out of fear, I allowed him and he disvirgined me. He slept with me only once. When I tried to confront him, after he finished, that was he is doing to us was not good, he told me to shut up.

“He told me that all sin is sin; that there is no sin which is bigger or smaller in the eyes of God. Our youngest sister, who is twelve years old, sleeps in the same room with my father, but I don’t know if he is doing the same thing to her,” she stated.

Justice Abiola Soladoye, however, ordered that the defendant be remanded in Kirikiri Medium Prisons and adjourned the case till October 28 for trial.
