If this is right... so one will be paying ACCA, CPABC and CPA Ontario subscription fees??

I will wait till I enter Canada to convert (if need be) to avoid unnecessary subscription fees.
Not necessarily. When you transfer your membership, what you do with the previous province’s membership is up to you. If you want to maintain both, you choose the province where you’ll pay membership fees and then for the other province, you get to pay a minimal amount to keep being a member.... can’t remember the name they call it. But you won’t pay 2 membership fees. For Alberta it’s about 230$. If you don’t want to maintain both, you’ll pay to one and tell the other to remove you from their membership (you’ll have to return everything the old province sent to you)

ICAN/CIMA is not a MRA as such , it's just the same thing as ICAN/ACCA, WITH Cima ,you write only one paper, with ACCA you write 4 papers
Actually they are all MRAs. ICAN/ACCA or ICAN/CIMA.... so long as there is an agreed and approved pathway for a specific qualification between bodies, an MRA exists. It’s just that we don’t use the term MRAs to describe it. Same way ACCA has an MRA with ICAN wherein you only write 2/3 papers if you are ACCA qualified

This is the most untrue thing I've read on this thread. Do better.
I don’t think there was a need for “do better”
Nd he/she’s actually right though cuz someone has shared a story here before about how CIC invalidated and issued them a new copr because they had changed passports and notified CIC.
Me thinks if you renew and go with your 2 passports, you are good. But if you renew and notify CIC about a change in passport, then they recall the issued copr and tell you to send in the new passport for reissue

Thanks for your response. I asked the question because are of the opinion that if you do sir for ALL CIMA papers, you cannot apply for CPA designation. In other words, that getting exemptions and writing just one paper will not qualify one for CPA.

Who has gone through this process Please?

This ICAN/CIMA MRA that currently exists whereby you are exempted from all papers and only get to write 1 paper WILL NOT qualify you for the CPA MRA. They have this part that says you can’t apply for conversion if you obtained the qualification via MRA.
But if you were a CIMA student (No MRAs anywhere) and you wrote some exams and we’re exempted from others or wrote all exams, then you can benefit.
Best option is to send the regulatory body of your intended province a mail

Thanks for the feedback to the house.. @bolded, does it mean CIMA students who completed all exams in Nigeria can't apply for CPA membership from Nigeria? Unlike ACCA?

Not a lot of provinces will let you convert without showing that you have landed in Canada. It’s only BC and Ontario that I know can let you convert from home.
For Alberta, you must have landed cuz you need to send them either your pr card or signed copr before they send you membership form. Doesn’t matter if you are ACCA or CIMA or any other MRA

Any help with the below please

doppler06:
Please for those that are staying in/stayed in an Airbnb and had no one around, please what address are you/did you use to open a bank account or apply for healthcard/drivers license and co before you sorted accommodation??
Did you use the airbnb address??

Also, if one decides to rent a Canada post office box as a temporary address provider, will it be acceptable proof of address??

Has anyone here used the post office box option??

Thanks for your assistance

Most times, the VO may not bother to levy your pensions balance where other funds submitted covers the POF required for the family size. Hence some people conclude that their pensions weren't used. That doesn't mean that the 25% pension account balance is not acceptable as a source of POF
If you go through hayor2014's posts, you'll see where he came seeking for advice cuz it was noted on his GCMS that proof of funds was not met cuz the VO didn't include pension. Nd he had also stated that he had initially included a cover letter showing that pension 25% clause.
He was advised to resend the clause and as well top-up which he did.

Worthy of note is the fact that there was no ADR sent to him.... it was from GCMS he saw the ish.

IMO, I feel some VO's accept it while some might not (werey people). Best bet for anybody using Pension is to order GCMS and see if your VO accepted or excluded it.

GTB gave me a generic bank statement, still trying to get them to give me a letter in cic format. My time is running out.
You can use it like that. That was what I did. The lady even advised me not to waste more money getting the letter of non-indebtedness cuz I had told her (generic+letter of non-indebtedness+signatories).

If you insist on getting the letter in CIC format, you'd have to go through your account officer. You can find your account officer's details when you log in to internet banking

Hello guy, am a lawyer. I got my credentials evaluated be wes but I was just advised to get it evaluated by IQAS as it gives better evaluation. Please I need help on getting my credentials evaluated by IQAS. Their website isn’t as straight forward as Wes. How does this IQAS work? Do I really need to get another evaluation done. Thanks
You can play with the crs calculator and see if you need the IQAS evaluation or not. IQAS evaluation will give the equivalent of a masters/professional degree for you LLB.
If you can tell Wes to evaluate you law school cert and transcript as well, you'd get the equivalent of 2 or more certificates. So your CRS score using 2 or more or Masters will help determine the best course of action. Cuz IQAS will take a really long time. Hope this helps

I am interested in this one. Anybody (experienced folks) with answers or suggestions, please.

The application says state EVERYTHING that you have been up to for the last 10 years under your personal history.
Y complicate life and start to remove somethings when we know that these people check near, far and wide. If they do a search and your name pops up at the school's page or a bulletin board under the.... say graduating class of 2014 and in your personal history, theres no mention of an education that happened in 2014..... what do you want to explain??

Dunno the advise to give to someone who has already submitted sha.... others can speak for that.... but if you haven't submitted your application, there's no point to hiding or not mentioning somethings under the personal history place especially when its nothing illegal.
Submit your application in a way that you will not go to sleep every night worrying about what will happen if they see something you didn't include..... the long wait to PPR is worry enough

congratulations. Can you please throw more light. Was it because you had more than enough from other source?
Nobody knows anymore.....For my case, maybe cuz I had more. Cuz from their notes, money from the other sources exceeded by about just 30dollars. The pension was not metion anywhere.
But I also remember a guy here; hayor2014 who from his notes it showed that they didnt include the pension and it was stated that ït appears he doesn't meet the required POF.
If other that have recently gotten their gcms and used pension can chip in, maybe more light can be thrown on the matter

Congratulations. @doppler06 Please do you mind expounding on this - (GCMS said they did not include my pension). Thanks

You can do medicals while waiting for ITA if you are a=very sure of ITA in the next draw cuz medicals has a validity of 1 year. For biometric, you must have to wait for a letter from IRCC to do it. The letter comes after AOR

Thank you Nairaland for all your assistance kiss kiss. The journey that started from Part 3 of this thread has been concluded in Part 5

IELTS: 3 Mar 18 LRSW 9988
WES: 17 Apr 18 Masters
CRS: 481
ITA: 25 Apr 18
AOR: 29 May 18
MEP: 8 Jun 18
IP1: Same day as MEP
IP2: 20 Sept 18
PPR: 25 Sept 18 (mail came in 1:34am Sept 26)
AOR to PPR: 117 days (approx. 4 months)
Passport transmitted: 26 Sept 18

Visa office: Ottawa. Single applicant
No ADRs, 1 US Visa refusal, and I didn’t complete the Schedule A (it was just too much work then... thank God they didn’t want it)

Immediately I saw the PPR mail on 26th morning, I just called in sick at work. It was raining that day but submit passport I must…... Went back to the same work I called in sick to (but stayed on a different floor) and printed and filled all I needed to fill and made all the copies I needed to make.
I had filled the IMM0008 and IMM5406 Additional Family forms because I didn’t have power to shout. The form is not that hard to fill esp if you are single with no dependents.

I then headed down to Studio 24 with my ruler and copy of photo specifications to measure the picture I’ll take. The lady there laughed at my ruler but she still helped me measure it. She stamped and signed and dated, but requirement said put full address also… I told madam to biko put full address. By the time she finished, there was no space to put my name and DOB but I squeezed it in there.

The rain helped because when I got to VFS Canada floor around 11am, it was empty. Just a handful of people. Everything was done on the 1st floor (collect PPT paper from security, wait, submit documents to the guy at till 1 when called, he will package inside envelope and you go and pay at till 5 or so, then hand over to the person at till 8 or 9 and shikena). Spent just 15mins for everything that day…… it was that empty

I had posted my appreciation post in the part 3 of this thread. That was when I discovered the thread and realized I was wasting time and money chasing my bsc transcript (I had already paid 45k, it was sent and wes said it was incomplete and had to be resent. The school was now telling me to pay again…. TF). Nd the msc was already accepted oh… Nobody told me to tell wes to delete the bsc

I just went to the first page of part 3, got a jotter and went to work and the rest is history.

All in all, my application was fairly straightforward. Decision to travel to PPR = 9 months. I really didn’t encounter any delays (asides my bsc matter) getting any of the documents and I thank God for that. Single NOC, Work ref was how CIC wanted it + payslips, POF was money in 2 mutual fund accounts (GCMS said they did not include my pension) + my salary and personal account, Medicals at QLife, PCC – ASP Mosh + UK PCC which I sent to a friend to scan down.

I kept it simple and had only 2 LOEs (1 was under the additional document place where I explained the visa refusal and the 2nd was where I aggregated my POFs in a summary table and showed CAD equivalent and exchange rate).

Thanks to this page and all those that responded the few times I had questions – I remember when 1 of the statutory questions was confusing me and Nairaland came to my rescue. Muchos Gracias

On to the next phase…….. btw, who else is completely overwhelmed by the amount of info from that MAP document + the many FPPs that are reaching out. This 24 hours in a day is not long enough.

I wish everybody success in every phase they are at…..….. All the best

Hi, I'm curious, did your PFA letter state that you're entitled to 25% if out of job for 4 months?
I'm trying to understand why they refused the pension fund.
Yap. The letter clearly stated that portion of the act.
joo2018:
Not necessarily. The issue came up in Thread 4.
The conclusion then was that case officers calculate other funds first. If the funds are adequate, the PFA fund is not included. No one has yet reported that POF was found inadequate due to PFA funds. Until then, we will assume it is still valid.
cc @doppler06
I don't think that is the case cuz I remember there was a guy (dunno if its this thread or the last one) that had the same issue and from his GCMS, it was stated "POF does not appear to be met" cuz Pension was not included..... nd then everyone was advising him/her to raise a CSE showing the sectn of the act whilst also hustling for the remaining balance of the POF

Pls where would you see your visa office on the GCMS notes??....

Cuz I can only see Primary office: CPC Ottawa. at the beginning of the GCMS document. Does that mean the file has not gotten to a visa office yet OR Ottawa is my VO?? Please tell me where to check on the document

Also..... be like these people no wan use Pension again oh. Cuz it was not part of what they totalled for my POF.
Nd I was so so lucky cuz my MMF amount was just CAD42 higher than recommended. See me thinking I had a comfortable margin.

If exchange rate had moved against me small, I would be telling a different story
