Jobs/Vacancies / How Did You Get Your Last Three Most Recent Jobs? by Dr90210: 1:18pm On Mar 26, 2016
Hey nairalanders,

I am trying to understand how most people in Nigeria got their jobs. My cousin told me that the only way to get a job in Nigeria is through connection, but I find it hard to believe. Although the last three interview and the only Nigerian job i've had so far has been through a connection. Is applying for jobs any other way pointless ?

According to a post online this are the stats I see for American employed

Source of New Job

Networking ------------------41%
Internet Job Board------------------ 25%
Agency/Search firm------------------11%
Direct Approach ------------------ 8%
Online Network (2010) ------------------ 4%
Advertisement ------------------ 2%
Other ------------------10%

I would like to make a survey based on these variable. So please answer in this format a readable format. For example, if you got your third most recent job through networking (eg through a friend or colleague) , second through an internet job board (eg Jobberman, ngcareers, etc), first through online network (eg Linkedin, Facebook)

3rd- Networking
2nd- Internet Job Board
1st- Online Network

I would post the stats once I get enough responses. This information would be valuable in assisting job seekers to understand how to prioritize their job search method. If only 2 % get their jobs online and the remaining get it through networking. A job seeker would understand that they should spend the bulk of their time dedicated to securing a job but building and enhancing their network. Once you've responded please share to others so I can get as much input as possible to collate the data.

Hi
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Jobberman Professionally Written Cv-share Your Experience by Dr90210: 1:14pm On Mar 25, 2016
The website is a scam and a scrapper site that copies of topresume.com
Even the names used and the format of the reviewed CV's they use to promote would show you that it is a scam.
What is annoying is how the jobberman founders Opeyemi Awoyemi, Ayodeji Adewunmi and Olalekun Olude are promoted in the tech space as entrepreneurs to look up to when they are infact just agbero boys from Ife with internet connection.
