While I do not dispute your nunbers, don't ignore the base effect in Wapco which may be skewing the earnings growth...

I think those lines are OCI, Other Comprehensive Income. Probably a negative change of the fair value of d debt instruments they invested in. As long as they are holding, no problem.

Below is a description of OCI:

"Other comprehensive income is those revenues, expenses, gains, and losses under both Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and International Financial Reporting Standards that are excluded from net income on the income statement. This means that they are instead listed after net income on the income statement.

Revenues, expenses, gains and losses appear in other comprehensive income when they have not yet been realized. Something has been realized when the underlying transaction has been completed, such as when an investment is sold. Thus, if your company has invested in bonds, and the value of those bonds changes, you recognize the difference as a gain or loss in other comprehensive income. Once you sell the bonds, you have then realized the gain or loss associated with the bonds, and can then shift the gain or loss out of other comprehensive income and into a line item higher in the income statement, so that it is a part of net income"

Copied from a random Google search...
Thanks for this...
I have long struggled with this concept but this is very enlightening

I am really curious to know what sell-off really means. If fonds are indeed leaving the markets then other funds are entering it in its place, is that not the essence of trading?

If for every dollar sold-off their is someone at the other end buying-in can we say that their is now a net increase in funds in circulation?

I don't get it.

If a seller is desperate to offload his or her goods.theyll have to offer it for sale at a lower price. This low price can cause others to panic and make them desperate to sell too at a lower price...

Momentum builds and the price falls dramatically just because everyone is trying to sell at the same time...

Of course for every seller, there must be a buyer but when sellers become more desperate and buyers can cherry pick, prices tank considerably...

Great observation about SMN and NSEMPA... I think he referred to NSEMPA at a point but called it SMN... I didn't catch it then until when I was editing...

He talked about moving from SMN to another platform before finally settling at "SMN" (I guess he wanted to say NSEMPA OR nairaland)... I apologise for missing it at the time...

With due respect sir, it seems you have much information about UPDC REIT, do you still think that there is future in the company? I'm heavy in it and not equally happy with the dividend payout.
Lol...
With due respect ma (I'm assuming you're a "ma" from your moniker), I am not an insider oh. I'm just an investor that did his due diligence...

If you look at updc reit results over the last 5 years, you'll see that this isn't the first time they are having a loss or disappointing with their dividend so the risk of this happening again (like it has done) should have been foreseen...

The most important thing is to look at their numbers very closely to figure out why they declared a loss. Is the loss due to a failing business? Or is it an accounting loss? Are there prospects for the future? What are the fund managers saying about their future plans?

Answers to all the above questions will help you decide if the ship is worth sticking with or bailing out... I am also heavy here but rather than feeling disappointed, I'm excited at the prospects of increasing my holdings on the cheap...

Look at the book value per share of the company and then look at the share price... Even if some of their asset value is inflated, you can discount the book value per share by 50% (which is outrageous) and still be buying the company at a discount at present price not to talk about the giveaway prices that it is heading to...

Let the bleeding continue for it is not unto death... Some short term pain is worth enduring for long term gain...

This is not investing advice... I just said a few things the way I see them besides the level of my patience is different from yours so everyone should see things in the light of their own circumstances...

UPDCREIT is paying 1 kobo final dividends.
I regret buying it.
I hate to say this but if you feel this way, you didn't do enough due diligence before buying it...

When is updcreit and sfsreit declaring and distributing dividends for 2021?
They shold both be releasing their audited results before the end of the month (31st March at the most)...

SFSREIT should pay before April ends while updc reit should pay by September or October...

That's the usual modus operandi...
