They also said something like course of study should be relevant to the applied position. So my question is what course of study should be relevant to fire positions and how does this really affect?
course of study is 5% if u check the selection criteria on the home page for fire and security officers. so try and score 95 and the job is urs even if u have a bsc edu in "action gainst FAAN"

NOTES ON THE SELECTION

Candidates meeting any of the following criteria are disqualified despite their total score:
Candidates who are over the age limit.
Candidates who have highest educational qualification that is higher or lower than that established for the position.
Candidates whose course of study does not match the required course of study as advertised.

This is on thier website.
So whats up with those Bsc guys that applied for lower cadre and said they wia upgraded and interviewed for positions matching thier qualifications, which they didnt originally apply for.

I called one d facilitator of the exercise last week, he told me that the result of interview we did has been collated in all the state.
That posting is only thing that they re doing now and it remain only ABUJA and LAGOS to be complete for the list, I even called him yesterday that how far!..but all he could say to me is nothing yet..but all the state have been completed for posting.
At the end of our conversation he said I should be praying
Brotherly, nice one. Could you ask him if the outcome of this elections would affect the recruitment exercise?
Please it would be important to know.

First, congratulations to those who've made it thus far. It is my sincere wish that u'r all drafted in.

I must also express "my own" opinions about this recruitment exercise, and without mincing words too. I hope my opinion will be respected as completely mine.

So FAAN stated on their website that the "pass mamark" to qualify for the next phase of d process was 50%. They shot themselves in d foot by making this declaration. I may be wrong but most if not all credible recruitment exercises never state what their pass mark will be from d outset. They know that dez things r performance based and as such wait till all results come in before making their analysis and fixing cutoff marks. Reneging on their words and not selecting everyone that had 50% and above in d first place was everything but fair imho. It is rather deceptive and I will not applaud em for that.

Second, I do not know of any "ideal" society where credence isn't given to merit but to federal character or quota systems (whatever it is termed). This is one system that has become a bane to our development as a nation. People r denied appointments and roles because they aren't from a particular region, state or geopolitical zone but are very qualified and capable of delivering results on d jobs while someone else who isn't gets d job. We can't keep doing things d old way and expect new or different results. It's quute laughable that many were not selected not because they failed but because the slots for their states r already filled. Fairness and transparence in my books is when everyone who meets d stipulated criteria is given the chance to compete for the role they applied for without recourse to their states of origin.

That said, I was thinking that d first online test wud be to prune down d number of applicants and then that a second test be conducted in a controlled and closely monitored environment. I was wrong! I do not see any "fairness" or "transparence" in a test where some people were helped by their "communities" in achieving very high scores while those that didn't do such and didn't score as high were not shortlisted for the next phase (even after scoring above 50%). That is not to take anything from those who genuinely sat for the test unaided and got very high marks as well. They are the true heroes and I respect them.

If we all will be honest with ourselves and not just speak because we were or weren't shortlisted, then we will all agree that there wasn't a level playing field for everyone. What this recruitment exercise has achieved is dat it's encouraged "cheating" to be lauded or accepted as success (for those who were aided and scored very high marks) and vilified those who worked hard but didn't score so high. Fate, some would call it. Tough luck others might say. But truth remains what it is.

Knowing the present unpalatable state of employment in this country (unemployment or underemployment), I would not blame those who did what they had to do to score very high. Survival of the smartest maybe! For this reason I sincerely wish them all the very best of luck. I pray u all get d jobs. And please do not forget ur friends who didn't make it when u do get it. God bless us all.

P.S this is entirely my opinion and as such shd be respected. Criticisms r welcomed of course, but please it shd be devoid of tantrums/insults/vitriol.

In ur opinion the quoter system is not good. but I say that is the fairest. Without that you would see that only a particular ethnic group or group of ethnic groups will be getting this jobs and that would be unfair. the northerners are educationally less developed bros but that dosent mean they shouldnt work.
On the issue of pass mark i disagree with what u said.In every system pass marks are set but the are not necessarily a prerequisite in entiety.I'll give examples.
In ur O'Level exams, the pass mark is 40. but in every admission, they will tell u a minimum of 5 credits, sometimes they will even say in not more than 2 sittings. Even in jobs they say 5 credits and not 5 passes(d) which is generally the pass mark.
In jamb, scoring 40 in every paper gives u a pass score of 160. but that score most times dont even qualify u for an apttude test let alone admission.
In the university its desame tin. have u ever seen a job placement where they said minimum of pass degree?
Check the number of pple that wrote this exams bros, in such a situation, the only way to get a fairly controllable number for interview is to narrow the selection criteria from high scores and down down like dat, like those with A,b, c.......
Both the quoter system and the selection of scorers are very objective ways and should be applauded.
Read the public update on thier website and u would see a detailed explanation of their selection process and how it was followed. If u do that u would see dat it was the fairest way possible to select and it is justifiable in any court.
If u wia the DG of FAAN , u would do thesame.
The only real problem FAAN had was thier ICT.

So apparently no interview invite for those of us that had our PFT on 17th and 18th?? This aint transparent ooo, do they plan to just phase us out or what?? Though I neva knew my name was on the list not until I got thr txt asking us to come for PFT on 17th. I had be checking for my name under Aerodrome Officer which was wat I applied for as a BSC holder, not knowing my name has bin under Aerodrome Superintendent. How do they explain these mix up?? I'm sure it might have affected others too, else we wuld have gone for d PFT earlier enough wen odas strtd having thrs.

If u applied for AFO11, your name would not have appeared in AFS.
You applied for AFS mistakingly.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Faanrecruitment Online Aptitude Test. by Drbazz(m): 3:55pm On Mar 24, 2015
If Enugu center did u bad, then perhaps u got a scam msg truely for the interview and it is not FAAN's fault. i had my process in enugu on the 11th of march, and i can say that the process was smooth and credible becos every body dat came there initially had thier names shortlisted and the crowd was not much and nobody was embarrased.
we were told that only those successfull with the pft would be contacted for interview. i got the interview invite and the next day all those that didnt get text were maybe not interviewed cos i left as soon as i finished mine while those that didnt get text msges were still trying to find a way around..
And it was understandable.
iT was during the massive turn out that problems started. and if u read faans website they said if u have been shortlisted and havent gone for interview, do so at the closest venue to u.
They later even allowed those that were not shortlisted to undergo the process as long as they scored above 70.(as i heard)
That move is justifiable if u read from thier site on how they select.
So just like every process, every body cant be satisfied. i Failed the first home test for the Nigerian Brewery sales executive role, a job i have always longed for and even prefere to FAAN, but i put the blame on myself cos pple passed, and the successful ones wrote another exam in lagos and some passed and some failed, the driving test eliminated some pple, so did the interview and now they are doing medicals(which might still eliminate some pple).
This one(FAAN) i havent gotten but atleast i have successfully reached an extent. i move on when one door closes.
No matter what, FAAN cant employ every body that applied.
The little flaws of the process are fate's way of eliminating and getting the final few just like natural disasters and death, and sickness etc. are nature's way of taking away one generation while the following takes over ( wether we like it or not).
Let us learn to move on as vacancies will keep arising and arising and lets stick to the small or other job we got doin till somtin better comes.
along.

I pray I get this job, having come this far.
I know no body in FAAN or other higher places but i believe in the attempt at sincerity of the process.
However, I am also prepared for the worst.
Thanks house.
Wish us all well in our endevours.

ok10:
it is disheartning that FAAN decided to end the recruitment process this way, weather you receive a text message or not as long as you pass the 50% cut off you are qualified for an interview,I know of a guy that took flight all the way from kano to lagos for DMO11 interview he was told to that is text message was from a wrong source and also a friend from anambra was told the sam
The only way that this recruitment process can be free and fair to all Nigerians is for FAAN to invite everybody that scored above 50% and conduct interview for them, after which they can now select the best.
moreover if it can take them 2weeks to conduct the test 1day should not be enough for the interview.if urgent steps are not taking it will affect GEJ negatively ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Leave GEJ out of this bros.
He wont do every thing.

bros it didnt take faan a day to conduct interview.
it took them a whole week.
So get ur facts right.
Read the website and u will know requisite for selecting pple.
even in school, 40 is passmark but in every process, be it employment or admission, they will tell u to get at least 5 credits(C) including english and maths, not 5 passes(Ds) to qualify.
In some cases they would even tell, in not more than one sitting.
My father would say, strive hard to get high scores in exams becos in every screening, when pple become toomuch, they will narrow it to higher scores to be able to select.
