Good folks, Was on my way home today and heard the tail end of this song on Wazobia FM between 5.30 and 6pm. It's mostly in Yoruba but the beats and singing was awesome to me. Have no idea what the name of the track is or who sang it. Has a male voice singing mostly and a chick singing in the chorus. Got someone to translate part of the song for me - something bout loving you in this life and the hereafter, Laye ato run (this is in yoruba) Anyone have a clue who sang this |
Business / Re: Sanusi Ousts Ovia, Elumelu, Akinfemiwa by drklump(m): 1:21pm On Jan 20, 2010 |
Should be interesting to see who takes over from Elumelu and Ovia. I am more interested in the Elumelu case. Wonder if Chika Mordi is still in that bank, he has always struck me as in the prince in waiting for the UBA throne. |
Phones / Re: Nokia 6760 Slide by drklump(m): 9:23am On Jan 18, 2010 |
Was interested in the phone earlier but found that : 1. Does not have wi-fi capability 2. If you have to make a call, you have to slide the qwerty pad open for dials. Otherwise, it looks like a pretty solid phone, not sure but i think it has A-GPS functions as well. You can check |
Travel / Re: Which Area In Lagos Is The Best To Reside? by drklump(m): 3:54pm On Dec 21, 2009 |
Whatever you do, just don't try the Lekki-Ajah axis!!! Unless you want to be live like this: 1. Work in VI/island or Mainland - leave home about 5am (unless you have a 4-wheel drive) and get home at 11pm 2. Reduced rate of visitors - hell, no one is going to visit you during weekends i assure you. Traffic is nasty 7 days a week 3. Expensive life-stle Let me keep quiet here. Better look for someplace in VI or on the mainland amigo Goodluck!! 1 Like |
Travel / Re: Which Is The Worst Road To Travel On In Nigeria. by drklump(m): 10:50am On Dec 17, 2009 |
Sometime in January this year, i had to make an emergency trip to Yola from Lag. Got to the Lagos airport at 7am for a flight at 4pm. Was told no ticket. Fully booked all the airlines. Was even begging them to ask the Abuja side (flight goes through Abuja) if they had a spare seat to spare. Cut a long story short, i got a seat. From Abuja to Yola, you would think we were in a Molue. The plane was so full i was beginning to think there were some ppl standing. From Yola back to Lag, i decided to get to Bauchi first via Gombe. Omo it was only then i understood why the plane was full. That road is not worthy to be called a cattle track. There are sections completely missing!!! I was whining for the entire 4hrs it took. That road is a disaster. Atiku should be flogged. A whole VP allowed his people to suffer such torment. |
Culture / Re: Common 'madness' In Lagos? by drklump(m): 12:14pm On Dec 15, 2009 |
Dont know if the rest of you have encountered this scenario before - but it's only in Lag that a bus driver will load passengers and then few mins into the journey turn into a filling station and queue for fuel. No respect for the passengers at all. You start hollering, the conductor asks you if you prefer to be stranded along the way!!! |

@all: The Movie companies in America under the MPAA are taking copyright infringement very seriously now. Recently the British put in a legislation that allows the ISPs there to disconnect repeating offenders of copyright infringement. Let me give you an example of my office experience. Someone left his laptop over the weekend to download a movie using torrents. The bugger forgot to set the torrents to shut down the application after the download was complete. The download finished and his system began seeding for the entire weekend. On monday morning, we were hit with a mail from our upstream provider. Phones / Yahoo Messenger Application For Mobile by drklump(m): 10:02am On Oct 04, 2009 |
Hi Folks, anyone know of any good application for yahoo messenger on mobile. I have been using yahoo tiny and yamee on MTN but for some reason, they dont seem to be working again - most likely gone the way of Opera mini I prefer not to use third party hosts like fringe or e-buddy. Going via yahoo's wap site is a nuisance, you cant enjoy multiple chats when u have to keep refreshing the screen to receive IMs |

Phones / Nokia Care Shop Ikeja - A Disgrace! by drklump(m): 7:45am On Sep 02, 2009 |
My beloved N73ME developed a fault last month and i needed to get it fixed. Having seen the adverts and hype about Nokia care present in Nigeria, i decided to go there and have the phone fixed there (not minding that it will be expensive) My first hurdle was sneaking out of the office during working hours for the trip. First stop was the NOKIA office in VI. The front desk lady took one look at the phone and made the decision that i go to their office in Ikeja. Humble me thinking it was for the good of my phone did not think twice of the trip. Reaching the Ikeja office, i waited patiently on a queue till i was attended to by a customer care executive. It was decided that my phone casing with keypad will be changed. A form was filled out and i was told to come back 10 working days from that day - 13th August. Meaning i should come back on the 27th. Patiently i waited with no doubt in my mind that i will get my phone back on the appointed day. I let a day pass and called the center on Friday the 28th to confirm i could come pick up my phone. That's where the whole drama started. A lady picked up the phone and rudely informed me that they were having systems failure and hence could not check the status of my phone. I asked her if i could call back later in the day or the next day and she just said ", check back next week" I was like isnt that too long and she went ", isn't it just three days?" - no apology about the delay or the inconvenience i was going through. Patient me let sleeping dogs lie and decided to call back Monday. Same rude lady picked up the phone on the 5th attempt (it was ringing with no answer) and said i should call back in 30mins. Did that and she was like she hadn't checked, call back in 1hr. Called her back in one hour and she simply said ", your phone is not ready" You can imagine the anger i was feeling at that point. My query as to when it will be ready was answered with ", how will i know? i am not the one fixing it" For customer service, that is the height of irresponsibility. My next action was to go online looking for their email address to send a nasty note. Did not get that but ended up seeing a contact nokia button on their main site - www.nokia.com Would you believe 30mins later i got a reply to my complaint and was asked to provide the details of what happened. Talk about people who care about their business. Next morning a customer service officer from the Middle East covering their ME and Africa region is on the phone apologizing in person and promising to update me as they make their investigations. Why can't things work out like that in Nigeria My brothers and sisters why ps: this is the second of September, my phone is still stuck in Ikeja!!!! |

Phones / Re: What Was Ur First Ever Phone? by drklump(m): 9:32pm On Jul 25, 2009 |
My first phone was a Sagem 3020. If i remember correctly, ECONET was doing a 20k promo back then (Sim plus the phone) Damn how i treasured that phone, lasted a year or so before started having battery problems. I was the only one with a phone in my room back then. What i loved about the phone was the flashing LED that alerts you when you have a message. Now using a Nokia N73 music
