Civil servants should see this as a wkae up call. Nigeria is broke means salaries may not be regular as usual again, so dont overdepend on it.

Op except you did your housemanship about 10yrs ago then I'd believe your story.
I recently did my housejob at UDUTH and this isn't the bed we slept on at the A/E.
The call room is not the best anyone can hope for, but it's certainly not this bad. It's fitted with a medium sized bed with a frame, a refrigerator, a TV set and an air condition unit.

How am I being negative? I just wrote about how a lot of us came to the UK for Plab2
Nawa oo,this kain aggression.
I'm out of here o jare.
Just know that your destiny is in your hands,no uncle or Aunty helped many of us.We saved like crazy, did plab2 and entered the system.
Your uncle may not want to invite you cos along with the letter he will have to give you his bank statement to prove that he will be able to sponsor your stay as well since you cannot show your own finances.
I'm pretty sure he wouldn't want to do that cos that would mean you'd be privy to his financial situation and its not like you are close to him at all.

Best you forget he's there and forge ahead alone.
Good luck.

Apart from standard visitors visa (formerly business visitors visa) which can be used for exam purposes, you can also travel for PLAB OSCE with family visitor's visa, whereby a family member in the U.K sends you an IV, I have a lot of friends who wrote the exam with this type of visa & some applied for standard visitor & were refused & some who got it. If travelling with the standard visitors visa, you must fulfil all visa criteria, having a GMC confirmation of your exam booking does not transform to automatic visa. I stated that due to my current financial state, I can't fulfil all the criteria at the moment. I believe the topic of the thread is helping new Nigerians in the diaspora & I was just contributing . What lie is the a**hole called tpiander talking about? Do every1 a favour, take your negativity & shove it.
Jahblessme:
@drt
You do not need invitation letter or accommodation from your uncle to be able to do your plab2.
I believe there is a visa available for people who need to come to the UK to do their exams.
You will need to go for the plab classes, you get accommodation around there and pay for it,don't know what you need your uncle for.All man for himself, its what all your fellow doctors did and are still doing.
Good luck.

Thanks, you're entitled to your opinion. Im sure experts on visa issues know that a married man beign sponsored by a friend raises eyebrows and may be grounds for refusal especially if the married man's account is not healthy.
tpiander:
You say people are offering to help you but you are refusing because they "don't bear your surname"?

Fake story.

I am the second medical doctor in my entire family, the first doctor, my uncle, finished from unilag in the 80s and emigrated to the U.K, he is now a consultant and director in his trust & of course, a U.K citizen. When I graduated from Unilorin, I was 21. He heard and was so excited, promised me that I'm not going to practice in Nigeria, he'll do all he can to make sure I do my specialty training in the U.K. 5 years down the lane, he doesnt pick even my calls again, call me or reply my emails. I'm not the kind of person that bothers people, so its not like I call him all the time, maybe a total of 8 times in the last three years. I have never even asked him for money, even when I was a broke medical student. I passed all the exams I need to practice in the U.K except for the last one which I have to write there. All I need from him is just an invitation letter & accomodation for a week. I am working and can afford flight and all, though my account is not healthy enough to apply for a visa but I have cash flow. I told him I want to come to come to the U.K for the exam, it took him three months to reply me and he sounded so uninterested. I called him thereafter on two different occasions, his secretary that picked noted down my name and said she'll have him call me back, he never did.

I'm just so surprised why he is behaving like that. He knows that if I come to the U.K, I'll be successful but he is not willing to help even in the slightest way. It is people like this that make me want to "make it" so well so I could prove to them that I can do it on my own. I have people offering to invite me to the U.K and act as my sponsor, but they are not family and we dont bear the same surname. From what I've been reading in the travel section of nairaland, I may be refused. I dont even want to apply for a visa until I am sure of getting it. Lord help me!
