I came across this song. He's not the best singer but he captures how I feel perfectly.

I'll break it down. God is giving people a choice between him and the Devil. People are freely choosing the Devil. If God killed the Devil he would be taking away people's free choice and it would not be love. He would be forcing people to be with him when they did not want to.

Why would he defeat the Devil? People have to choose between him and God. To kill the Devil now would be like a husband killing his wife's lover. The problem is not the lover, it is that the wife loves him in the first place. And to kill the lover proves nothing because the wife's heart has already left.

Christians often try to paint a picture of a loving God that is never angry because we don't want him to look bad or evil. But the opposite is true, all of the evil that is going on in the world makes God mad because he is good. How could a good God not be mad about how people treat each other. That is what this song is about.

I am the fool. Sometimes I ignore verses in the bible because I think they will be dangerous for me. Especially verses about loving enemies or not repaying evil for evil. I know I should follow Jesus and he knows more than me. But sometimes I feel like I have to defend myself or I will keep getting pushed around. In practice I'm living like I know more than God.
