Tech blogging in Nigeria has a come a long way since its humble beginnings in the early 2000s. Today, there are scores of technology blogs in the country. The Nigerian tech blogging space has grown in leaps and bounds over the last 16 years. Tech historians in the country have 2004 as the year the first recorded tech blogs in the country happened. These are still the authentic top 4 smartphone brands in Nigeria in terms of shipment and marketshare. We shall see by the end of the year if Xiaomi has truly been able to edge Huawei out of 5th place. It is possible, thanks especially to Huawei's current predicaments.

To give you a picture of what to expect from an OPPO A92 review, it is important that you know that the A92 is a successor to the hugely popular OPPO A9 2020, which we reviewed late 2019 and considered to be a smartphone that delivers on all fronts. See our OPPO A9 2020 review. The A9 2020 was the mid-range smartphone to beat in its class. At first glance, you quickly notice the OPPO A92’s clean design, as well as the punch-hole camera in the 6.5-inch 1080P fullscreen display. Housed in that punch hole is a 16-megapixel selfie camera. The rest of the specs include a 48-megapixel quad camera at the back, and a fingerprint scanner in the side-mounted Power button. The other specs you will not see include the Snapdragon 665 chipset, 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage, a large 5000mAh battery, and 18W fast charging. These are impressive specs fit for a mid-range smartphone that is looking to get the attention of vibrant young adults who are looking for top value for money without spending on a flagship. 5G is not a cable service; it is a wireless service and so does not require last mile cables. These cables being laid along dug streets in Lagos are fibre optic cables for providing cable Internet to residences in neighbourhoods around the state. You can read more here: 5G in Nigeria. 5 Likes |

OPPO Reno3 and Reno3 Pro were officially launched in Nigeria yesterday. Mister Mobility had both phones with him for use weeks ahead of time and his Reno3 Pro review is available on MobilityArena. It is a rich and long one! The review starts below. Picking up the OPPO Reno3 Pro smartphone in my hand, I immediately fell in love with its slim profile and its light weight. It was a beautiful first impression. Being comfortable in the hand is always a good start to experiencing a phone. It was a good start to my OPPO Reno3 Pro review. Our review unit was the global version of the device, not the 5G version. I quickly noticed the all-screen display – the absence of a notch. In the top left corner was a short horizontal slot that housed a dual selfie camera. The Reno3 Pro exuded class with its tasteful lines and curves. I had a sense that I was going to enjoy reviewing this beautiful smartphone, but it had even more pleasantries waiting for me. And even better, it had one big surprise in the camera department. For the benefit of those who just want a quick picture of what the Reno3 Pro delivers, I will provide a quick summary of the device by outlining its major pros and cons: - slim and lightweight polycarbonate body - punchy AMOLED display. - fantastic quad-camera. - solid battery life and super fast charging. - solid performance on all fronts. - no NFC. If you are here for the summary, that’s it. You can hurry along now. But if you are here for all the juicy details, the party is about to get started, as I walk you through the rest of my experience using the Reno3 Pro. Read the full review: OPPO Reno3 Pro review.

In 2006, the first TECNO phone hit the market. It was a result of the tireless work of a Nigerian, Nnamdi Ezeigo, and for the next decade TECNO Mobile championed itself as an African brand. TECNO researched, designed and released smartphones for Africans. And Africans lapped it up. Other sister brands, like itel and Infinix, were birthed. But in the last three years, keen observers would have noticed a gradual shift in dynamics. TECNO Mobile and its siblings began to explore Asian markets in 2017 and have quickly drummed up a strong following there. What is now happening is that while new TECNO phones used to be announced and launched first in Nigeria, and then Kenya, these days, quite a number of them get announced and released first in one Asian market or the other. Weeks later, they come to Nigeria, Kenya and other countries in Africa. In some cases, the Asian models have superior specs to the models launched in Africa. In other words, TECNO Mobile is shifting its priorities. And it isn’t difficult to see why. Click here to read the full article on MobilityArena. |

shiftback:Up to a point, one camera with software enhancements produced great results. We saw that with Google's Pixel phones. But multiple cameras have the advantage that each lens can do one thing better than the other. e.g. one lens is dedicated to macro (close-up) shots, while another is dedicated to telephoto. It is like having two professionals in different fields instead of one man who is good at both fields. More often than not, you get better results with two separate men who experts at their different fields. Which is why in the last few years, Google Pixel cameras have fallen behind the competition from Huawei, Samsung, Xiaomi, and OPPO. Google is now making cameras with multiple lens too and trying to catch up. I hope that explanation helps. Cheers. 17 Likes 1 Share |
