Mine took 3 years before it got granted, I was punished for over staying my student visa for two extra years. I thank God so much, I have been back here since a month, just trying to settle in well. Good luck to all the forum members. 2 Likes |

willwin2: I came around the time the law was going to change about the financial requirements, I had to make sure we meet the requirement before applying. So after I applied in October 2013, I was refused in January 2014 and appealed by February 2014, they didn't overturn their decision by July ending which is the deadline, so we went to court in November 2014, the judge ruled in our favour and they asked for my passport by December. 1 Like |

Hello everyone, I am so pleased and grateful for the things God has done for me, although it was a difficult time in the whole process because I was already in the Uk for seven and half years before I came back to Nigeria, and it has been 2 years and 10 months I have been here also. I finally got me visa stamped last week and I have picked it up, also done my tb test and I should be leaving anytime soon too. I want to say to everyone going through a hard time that God has a plan for you, up till now I still don't know how to thank my God for what he has done, I still don't believe my passport is in my wardrobe with my visa on it, all in all, please keep praying and don't relent in your effort to join your loved ones. God will bless us all. Thanks so much to everyone who have contributed one way or the other on this forum. @Justwise,@Girlfio etc God will continue blessing you. 3 Likes |

Hello house, I just realised that I don't have my passport photocopy in my file, I will be going to Ikeja to pick up my passport by Monday, may I ask what chances of getting it I have at the new VAC in Bank Anthony's way. Won't they act funny just cause I don't have the photocopy? |

Hello house, Sheffield received my passport on Thursday last week and if it wasn't for Christmas this Thursday, I will reckon my passport will be back in Lagos this week Thursday, what I don't know is if I should go on Monday or I should make it Tuesday before I go there. I also made my initial application at the Ikeja office last year, so I am not sure where to go and pick it up now, if it is the new Ikeja office or the VI office. Someone please tell me something. |

coldstone84: I guess they just wanted to see if the answers in the form are true, cause if you lied about anything in the form, your wife won't answer them correctly. |

willwin2: First of all, I did use a lawyer, secondly I got the reason they maintained one of their two reasons of refusal, although I wasn't present in court; my case was a bit straight forward cause there were some documents that they claimed not to have seen in the initial application & appeal, my wife & barrister was present in court with those documents, so all they had to do was to tender them and the judge took a look at them. The judge also asked my wife few personal questions about my daughter and she answered. That was all really. Good luck to all of us in it. |

Bolssos: May I ask if your wife is earning over 18600 & if she is, hope she is not not planning on reducing the working hours, I know child tax credit won't affect your application but the house she has just gotten from the council must not be paid for by the council, I hope she intends paying herself |

girlfio:Amen to that, fingers crossed & about my friend who have waited 4 weeks for home office to call up for his passport, does he continue waiting or should try and contact sheffield office. I know some people have done it before in this forum, sending them a message with the copy of judge decision. |

Lexusgs430: I don't see them appealing in this case, they do that when the case is a little dodgy, the home-office rep who attended the court on the day of this particular guy's hearing gave up easily cause they took the guy to court because they thought his relationship wasn't genuine, by the time they got to court, the evidences provided made the home-office rep succumb, she really cooperated with the sponsor/wife of the guy and the judge was Ugandan, the guy knew he had won his case by the time the wife came out of court and called him, it has been 4 weeks since he got the judge's decision now. In my own case which I am yet to get the decision, the court atmosphere was similar, except from the home office rep not saying much, they wanted more proof of my wife's income and some pay-slips that they said was missing, by the time my barrister tendered it, all the home-office rep could say was that the judge can consider our appeal since we have the documents they claimed not to have seen in the initial application. Although I am still waiting for the judge's decision. What I want to know is how long the home-office have until they decide if they want to appeal, so that my guy can start disturbing them when that time passes. |

Lexusgs430:6 months lol, that is really a crazy waiting time after judge decision, hopefully they will call him soon, I knew of some people's cases who emailed Sheffield with the copy of the judge decision and it helped. But I will tell him to wait for the 4weeks first. |

@ Justwise & others with experience, I have a friend who have won his appeal hearing since 3 weeks but the home office is yet to ask for his passport, kindly give me some clue for him to speed up the process. Also my appeal hearing was yesterday for my own case, my hubby said after my hired barrister presented our case with evidences which the home office claimed not to have seen, that the home office representative only said this to the Judge " when the initial application was made, they didn't put all these documents, so the ECO was right in refusing the application, but it is ok if the judge want to consider the documents presented now in the court" so next thing, the judge asked my wife about my daughter from a previous relationship whom we have lost contact with and she answered the last time she saw her was earlier on this year. That was the whole of it and the Judge said they will get back to us as usual within 3 weeks, also there were two Judges in the room, I don't know if one was only there to assist the other. What do you think guys? |

justwise:@ Ineedhimbadly @Justwise have given you the best advice, when I was in the Uk and made my application then, I was asked to be signing at the IM centre in Ldn bridge, where I got detained and I agreed to be removed back here to make a fresh application here. I made all that known to the ECO in my new application and they never mentioned that section 320 11 in my reasons for refusal. I think you should talk it over with him and declare everything if there is still a chance of doing so, but if not, you may be considering the Surinder Singh route. |

ineedhimbadly: Sorry to hear that, so the judge upheld the decision and what were his reasons for that? If only that can be shared on here. We ought to know how serious your husband case was with the home-office, so as to know if he has any chances of the Upper Tribunal favouring him. I read few cases not long ago on Google and people who go to the upper tribunal court for the 320 11 reasons get their cases reviewed and initial decision overturned but depends on how serious the case is. |

girlfio: @ Hopeforallone, you can take some positivity from what Girlfio has just said, from what I understand, not all cases are straightforward in court unless the homeoffice totally give up in court, even with that, the Judge still take their time to send out decision, I am chatting to a guy who only had to proof his relationship was genuine and everything seem to go well for his wife & representative in court, and he is still waiting for the judge decision since September the 18th. He knew the decision will favour him the way the case went in court but he is still waiting and moreover if the homeoffice representative in your case happen to be stubborn a bit, that don't give him a upper hand as long as your representative does his own part too. If you believe you have a case then you will be favoured by God grace |
