POC it's not only Nigerians that travel to the US to give birth, I met a lady from Philippines who also travelled all the way for dual citizenship for her son and there are many others. Besides just because they increased there bill does not mean Nigerians have done something bad.
nefertitiram:

After fishing it out, what next? Bring it to Nairaland so that it can turn to a disaster again?

As usual, Nigerians just have a way of scaring these US hosps. I just taya.

Letter of consent from your DH? If that's what you mean, you dont need DHL. Let him scan it to you and you sign your part. #Shikena

Yes baby has arrived . Someone just told me her dh didn't go to the embassy, but did it in front of a lawyer.
mamacajah:

what is the mistake? could he not print another form? and no, he can only notarise in the US embassy for American births. which embassy office was this- Abuja or Lagos? He can any other location if this would help. I know Lagos used to be walk in for some particular days, can't remember now which days.

Has your baby arrived yet? This will help determine if you can extend your return date or not. Remember the passport is the most document of this trip, its best to do it right. wink

inizo:

Can he notarize the form any where else apart from the embassy or can he just sign and send it to me. Pls advice me

Hi, I used delta airline and so my poe was in Atlanta.
MumTee:
Hello Dupsy,
how are u and the baby doing? Please my friend is coming to San Antonio and her Point of Entry is Chicago; how friendly is Chicago as POE for pregnant women.
My friend's sister and hubby just got turned back about 2 weeks ago. The entry officer claimed the hospital & Doc's fees is over-discounted and screamed FRAUD despite they had paid $10,000 in advance. This is already giving me the jitters for my friend coming in by September.

Please anyone coming to Chicago on the 17th? DH needs to send the notarized form to me. Please help a sister
Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by dupe007: 6:00am On Jul 06, 2017
Hi, you will need to book an appointment. My hubby went there yesterday and he was asked to go and book an appointment.
Supernaturalone:
From what people have shared on this forum, you don't need a prior appointment to notarise a document. You can just walk in. You can search for people's experience on this, here.

DHL is as reliable as can be. Sent a document to UK recently and it was received in less than 2 days. You'll get a tracking number and can monitor progress till delivery.

Thank you. I know about the form but DH still have to include a written one.
markmard:

it not a letter but a form to be downloaded online called Form DS-3053 ,print and fill by your husband then notarized by a lawyer and then send to you by courier with photocopy of his travel passport ,the completed ds3053 filled by your husband must be notarized before a Notary Public, lawyer or Solicitor. The notary or solicitor must place his/her official seal upon the document and the notarization must be no more than 3 months old. The absent parent must also provide an original or clear photocopy of the government-issued photo I.D.(such as their foreign passport, driving license or military I.D) which they presented when notarizing Form DS-3053.

Hi, please I can see you gave birth in Chicago and would appreciate it if I can get the cost estimate.
Dxbconnection:
Hello All,

This post is long overdue. To say I am a silent reader is an under-statement. Every single time you see 'and so so guests' I am one of those guests.

I started following this thread in 2011 when my best friend since forever and I decided to have a baby. grin . A daughter we would name Mercedes!!! (Do not judge me.. I was watching Glee at the time) Anyway last year we got married and now we are going to have a baby May 2017. Rest assured, baby name has changed.

My visa story is not eventful. I have always had US visa, but this renewal early this year got me worried because i had just moved to another country and hadn't even worked up to 4 months. I considered going to My husband's visa was still valid by a few months, mine by 3 weeks, but we decided to renew same time to streamline.

Usual questions- where do you work etc etc. When did you get married, do you have family (My husband's family is in Chicago). She then spent a surprising amount of time asking us which countries we had visited before....in great details. Anyway visa was granted. I was not pregnant then.

I contacted some hospitals in Chicago because I know that people in America do not really understand our need to pay for 'free' services. The best I did was to give them the numbers to make calls for me because who has money for long distance calls.

The cheapest option I have so far is an all inclusive package of 3500. Except epidural of about 650 and pediatrician. I do not have a quote yet for this but it shouldn't be a lot.
