There's an Engr John Lamda in UNIPORT Petroleum & Gas Engineering Dept, he says it proudly and with all confidence that he can get any female student he wants any time, na just to fail her.... then she'll come begging. The students know them, the problem is that you can't nail anyone not without a hard concrete evidence. Even with this revelation, it'll only slow them down, it won't stop it.

Car Talk / Re: How To Process Your Car Tinted Permit Plus My Experience by Dynamo1(m): 9:27am On Mar 04, 2016
Henovy:

Op, thank you for the info. Another important info is that you have to re-size the jpg files of the required documents to 100k and below, otherwise, it cannot be uploaded. It's a frustrating experience if you do not know how to do it.

My guy, that's another issue. In fact u need to reduce the jpeg image to less than 100K to be able to upload. I'll advice guyz to open the image with "paint" then resize to like 25%, and re-save. That's for who understand how to do that.
Please, I need someone to convince me that his/her experience with the police ICT guy was pleasant. The guy was demanding for N5000 to do my biometrics. I gave him N2000 with abeg, and was still threatening he won't treat my form, that I'll still pay the balance. I told him was it not meant to be free? He answered that it's absolutely free that I should go with my money and by the time I didn't get my form processed I'll pay times ten of that to bribe police on the road and he'll still be waiting here to collect from me the double of what he's demanding now. He was soo soo proud and confident that I wondered what our country has turned into. I expected the highest level of professionalism and best behaviour at a police HQ for that matter. Infact I have up on Nigerian Police. I gave the guy N2000 dat day ( over 5 weeks now), and till date my Tinted permit never ready. Maybe it was intentional I don't know. This just one of my three experiences that dat.
Even people in the police HQ don't seem to know about this process as at when I went. They kept directing me up and down, Infact two armed officers were psyching me to give them money before they could direct me. In their words: "u wan come collect tinted permit abi, now wey we dey see ourselves face-to-face settle us before we go begin do stop and search u inside ur tinted motor, and na u go dey beg us dat time". I juz walked away and they said "no worry, we go jam for road, u dey use us do yang now". Even at the entry gate, two female officers will ask u to sign in, then ask u to drop something for them before you sign out. Corruption stenches everywhere, Infact na GOD hand we dey for ds kontri.

its appaling wat women subject dem selfs to. jst to bcom mrs. smh for u in 3D.

@ednut1, you are very correct. Its easy to judge without hearing the other side(I mean the guy's). As much as I feel what he's doing is absolutely wrong, people just don't change for no reason. @OP, ask your friend what are the( evil) things she has done to make herself married to this man. It might be karma playing it's turn on her. A good girl( or guy) just don't turn bad. Some ladies would do just anything(I mean anything that you may not even be able to think of) just to get married to a guy even when it is blatantly clear that the guy doesn't love her.
My people, this guy doesn't love his wife at all. You can't feel comfortable hurting the one you love, and still be proud of it. Well, you might be lucky if prayer can change him( which I doubt), or you should get out of the miserable life. That's why it's always good for a woman not to be totally dependent on a man. I bet you most women would choose marriage over a good job of both opportunities presents themselves at the same time no matter how sketchy that marriage is. They want that marriage soo badly more than anything in this world especially if the guy is loaded. Now they start crying when the consequences come. There's hardly any man that cheats without the woman knowing while they were saying if at all they did, the woman will only turn a blind eye hopping that afterall "na me e go marry".

@dynamo1 Something similar happened to me with British Airways from Abuja to London. Due to technical reasons, Our flight was cancelled and we were lodged in Hilton Hotel with free dinner and breakfast for passengers. We were even compensated with 50 Pound voucher.
I cannot foresee Arik Air doing that in Nigeria even for a return trip from Lagos to London. Nigerian Airlines are pathetic doe.

@Finestboy1, u mean BA did this 2u in Naija. Definitely we both know Arik Air or any Nigerian airline won't do that. In fact the Nigerian Arik people are already starting to deviate on the contents of the first letter. Naija, I hail oh!

OP it is very sad that this happened to you in Nigeria of all places. The truth is who wants to fight at the airport with people who refuse to see common sense.

something similar happened to me once with virgin, i was offered a free tickect to anywhere in world or cash of over £500 but this also happened in london.

We have poor customer service in this country, i dont wish Arik Air ill but thier end is inevitable when there are so many more airlines about.

i definitely wont be using them.

@AfricanFem, I have heard many stories of how different airlines around the world respond to flights delay and cancellation. Are they bound to a different regulation exempting Nigeria? I thought maybe Nigerian airlines operate on different regulation that do not bound them to compensate passengers, until I witnessed Arik Air of all airlines treat us as all international airlines would in London, d same airline wey bone us for Lagos. Right then and then did I realized it's a Nigerian environment thing. Why can't they treat us same way in Nigeria. Unfortunately they are the only Nigeria airline on major international routes, I wish there were others so the competition could force compliance to regulation. In fact part of d offer from London is to link any passenger going to any part of Nigeria on Arik's route Free of Charge with ur luggage. By the time we arrived MMIA, there's an Arik local plane already waiting to pick up passengers on connecting flight. I was like "waoh", could ds be Arik. We can only hope for better days ahead!

I really don't know about the hustling aspect, but language was a great barrier. Thanks to the hotel receptionist lady who understands English, and I had to write down common words especially the currency that I would use often. If you understand Arabic, you are still good to go. I had to download an English-Turkey Translator app to survive. Also, my friend and I were really scammed by a lot of shops especially at Taxim Square. Dem no honest at all as English ppl. From the stories I've heard, this situation has led to so many breakups as a result of unfaithfulness ( mostly on the part of some wives, because the men may cheat too while away) ... It's rather a difficult one, in my opinion. I would prefer the two weeks in two weeks out kind of work (at most), anything outside this, naaaaaaaah! It's not just the money that's important, I need my man around too.. smiley

@Kika23, u must be one of the two-in-two-out crew, or eyeing to be. Shout out to you.
Even the two weeks dey had some peeps. I once spoke to a guy aboard a gas carrier ship and told me he had to work 6months in, and 2months off. I was like "REALLY" He said he has decided not to get married at all cuz he can't stand the heart attack of him thinking someone might be helping his wife. He plans to just get a child from a lady, and everyone lives his or her life the way he/she choses.

Simple!

But pple will say, they use them becos of the 64kg luggage allowance they offer.

I don't care about all that, I work according to time, I can't loose 30 hrs of my life for 100£ difference in ticket price.

@bebe2, no be say Arik Air over-cheap like dat oh. In fact BA was cheaper as at the time I did my online booking, I just chose to fly Arik to exercise my Nigerian patriotism (and dat luggage consideration too make I no lie). I just feel we have a long way to go in Customer Rights Protection in Nigeria. Why would d same company treat us differently in similar situations. They just feel nothing legal flies in Nigeria.
BTW Bebe2, can we do business with this ur transfer stuff.

@feedthenation, when are we going to get it right. Av always flown other airlines on international route but I feel why shouldn't I try out our national carrier, and also Arik is the only airline I know that takes the highest kg of luggage (2 pieces of 30kg each).

Catered4:
Haaa Yes ooo. August 23rd 2014, aero contractor los- abj 2.45pm. I remembered that saturday. My 10mnt old girl(as at then) and I was to travel to abuja from lagos to visit hubby after 7 months of not seeing each other. Since our flight was scheduled for 2.45pm, I decided to leave the house by 11am believing that by 1pm, I should be at the airport. Well that was my own calculation, little did I know that lagos roads are unpredictable. I got into a cab from lekki and on our way going, we encountered series of traffic on the island. I started shivering, infact I begged God to clear the roads for me and my daughter. 12pm, I was still on the Island. Then the road got cleared, we encountered another one at oshodi bridge. I looked into my wrist watch, it was 1pm. I wasnt myself anymore, the cab man kept on assuring me that I wont miss my flight. By 1.30pm, we passed through airport junction. We encountered another traffic at the toll gate. Exactly 2.pm, we got to the airport. I immediately carried my girl and jumped out of the car. The driver droped my luggage and the drove off. I rushed to the aero contractor stand. I saw people on the line and also a tag los-abj but this time around, 4.45pm. I met the personnel at the counter and told them my flight is for 2.45pm and they were like, ''sorry madam, the plane just left''. I was like, ''it's not possible, it's just 2.15pm''. I begged them, i told them to consider my girl but they said there was nothing they could do. I also saw some persons begging and some even came after me. We were 7 that missed the flight. We were directed to their ticket desk. On getting there, we were asked to pay N7000 each. God, I was left with N1000 on me. I felt so stranded with a 10month old baby. I begged them, I told them I had no money but to them, there was nothing they could do. I was so helpless. I just didnt know if Im to cry. 1000 naira wont take me back home. I called hubby, I told him I missed my flight and I was told to pay N7000. At first he was angry, then he said I should get money from whosoever is coming on the same flight to abuja and he will refund the money when we arrive at abuja airport. Lo and behold, a young guy in his 20s walked up to me and asked if I missed my flight. I said yes and he said he missed his flight too. I told the guy I was stranded and that my hubby said I should get someone to pay that the money will be refunded on getting to abuja. The guy told me to join the line, he went straigt to the ATM, he withdrew some money and then gave me N7000. I thanked him like there's no tomorrow. I was given another ticket and I checked in. I went again to thank the guy. When it was time, we boarded the plane... The plane landed, I quickly got up so as to remind the guy that my hubby was waiting outside but the guy was no longer there. I got down from the plane, we were to be screened for ebola before we can pass through the arrival lounge. We were on a line, I looked for this guy, I didnt see him. After my daughter and I has been screened, I went out thinking the guy must be outside waiting for his money, he wasnt there. He left! Hubby came, helped with the luggages, asked of the guy who helped me. We looked for him but we didnt find him. I was shocked. N7000, just like that from a total stranger? Then I said to myself, he must be an angel. Hmmm with all this experience, I Swear I no go Miss my Flight Again!!!

Your story is soo touching. I always pity ppl coming to the airport from Lekki/Ajah axis. I have a friend who stays around LBS, he will always crash at a friend's place on the mainland a day before his flight, or leave home 5HRS before his flight. I hope the Lekki International Airport becomes a reality in our lifetime cuz I don't ever ever trust our Nigerian govt with their political promises.

@Originalsly, I concur with what you said. People dat go to courts here because all our sectors seems to be messed up, unless a very strong human rights lawyer decides to take it up, even with that he has to be very passionate about it. Can you give me an example in this 9ja of where someone has received compensation from govt or organisation for their wrongdoings. I remember the case of dat woman who was mistreated by a Naval officer or sumfin and everybody march for justice,
do you know the end of that case?
I understand we Nigerians just like to hoot and shout without approaching the courts and we start crying foul. I have been to a police station twice requesting to seek the DPO's attention to report a case, I was told on both occasional dat DPO never see beta people, Na me e go see Abi. One of the passengers in Lagos actually threatened to follow up this case, I bet you can see the looks on the faces on the Arik Air staff like "na today? Na u first sabi law". No iota of regard for the law, and they felt soo comfortable that nothing dey happen. If anyone knows who I can approach to follow this up, I gladly will.
My concern again is this, I fear Arik Air Nigeria may begin to say something else when it comes to honouring this free return ticket we were offered in London. Till then sha!

@Jchi9876, u are really wonderful my guy. We all know passenger rights exists, but Airlines operating in Nigeria knows they can go away with its violation. The same with other sectors. There's a popular steel company somewhere in Agege/Ikeja (can't remember the name), that is very famous with the way factory workers loose their fingers due to faulty and poor ergonomically designed machines, they don't pay "nada" as compensation and what surprises me is you still see young men and women queuing there every morning begging for jobs. I know we would be familiar with similar occurrences in one place or another. Chinese, Lebanese, Indian companies operating in Nigeria always sweep consumer and labour rights under the carpet because they know it doesn't hold ground here.
Travel / Re: My Experience With Arikair In Lagos & London. Same Company Double Standards!!! by Dynamo1(m): 7:23am On Feb 17, 2015
@Claremont, I really appreciate you looking at this from another angle. I respect your view. To be very honest with you, I didn't want to make the story too long not to bore the readers. There's no country that doesn't have consumer protection laws in all sectors, it's only the degree of adherence or should I say negligence that differs. We've been sold out in this country. One of the Nigerian passengers on the Lagos-London flight who had a British Passport was seriously raking and expressing his pain and enumerating his losses and the consequences of this flight reschedule, the Arik staff at MMIA Lagos just told him "Oga stop shouting, Na so we've been telling people since".
Don't forget most of the content of our constitution and regulations are "Copy and Paste " from U.K and U.S. But when it comes to implementation Na wahala.

Guys, e no funny at all. You won't be surprised all of we Nigerians given that treatment in London knew that Arik Air did this only because we are on a foreign soil. We kept saying we knew this won't happen on our own soil. Someone had to tell the white guys in their staff that this won't happen in Nigeria, he just smiled and said but this is the regulation in the UK, they just have to do it.
@HenryChubayo, I think of doing so I swear. I just need a good reporter who can make the story newspaper-worthy. Kindly give me a link if you have, I really want this to get out there.

It's with great dissatisfaction and tears in my heart that I had to raise this issue here.
Straight to the point, I booked a return LAGOS-LONDON flight via Arik Air. On my outbound journey on the 29th Jan 2015, I arrived at the Arik Air counter 1000HRS for the 1245HRS flight. We were told that the flight has been rescheduled to 0100HRS the next day due to operational reasons. No remorse, no apology, only a stern look on the faces of their staff telling us to hang around and try to show up at the new time. You mean we should hang around for over 15HRS? We checked in our bags, and asked to go with our hand luggage. One lady at their front desk asked me to go relax in an hotel nearby in Ikeja and come back for the flight. On whose expense I asked? She just smiled. I just went home to sleep and came back for the flight.
Fortunately or rather unfortunately, On my return journey from LONDON-LAGOS on 12th February, I arrived at the airport for a 2130HRS flight, the same thing happened, flight postponed till the next day. Arik Air apologized, gave us £10 voucher each for refreshment at the airport, took us to a 5-Star hotel in West London, we had dinner, had two meals the following day, transported back from the hotel to the airport, and offered a FREE RETURN TICKET valid for one year all to apologize for the flight disruption. I couldn't believe this is the same Arik Air that didn't even offer us N50 gala in Lagos. I shook my head and felt very sorry for my dear fatherland.
SAME COMPANY, DIFFERENT TERRAIN, DIFFERENT STANDARDS.

To back up my story, attached are copies of the letter we were offered in Lagos and in London.
