I understand the frustrations we are all going through ( I mean, I'm in similar shoe). But I think that saying the scholarship is punishment is not entirely fair to the scheme. Agreed, we're facing a really tough time. It doesn't help when we interact with PTDF, TETSFUND, Commonwealth and Chevening scholars. But truth remains that for those of us who desired quality education to break the barriers set by our Nigerian degrees, this is indeed an opportunity.

The schools will only send threatening emails, but they won't shut you out. they'll charge u extras for falling short on your accomodation fee installments, but they won't throw you out on the streets. It's actually kinda tougher for those in private accomodations as landlords might not smile ( mortgage calls). But most landlords understand if u explain to them.

What u should do is get a job. If u work ur full 20hrs, u should have more than enough to pay your rent and something left to feed with ( even if you're paid minimum wage). If you're having difficulties getting a job, look at ur CV again and remove anything that might over-qualify u for the role for which you're applying.

I really hope this helps someone.

I have to go now, this term is so crazy choked!!!

I called a land line inquiry number, they rarely pick but once,I was told they are waiting for other colleagues of ours, and management will decide on date. I also sent an email to d contact email of their website. No reply. If you have an alternative email or phone no. Plus, kindly send as PM to me.

We all have different resumption date and payment deadline. The management should also try and understand this. It isn't a good thing to be stranded in foreign land oo.

Make dem just pay d fee, make I concentrate with my studies. In fact, d deadline here is 31st.

I sent you a pm. u shd reply. I have some info that might be useful

Hi everyone. Great and completely useful thread. Wondering if there is anyone heading to the University of Reading here. If there is any, have you secured accommodation or does anyone know anyone who needs a flatmate or know of a spare room available. I had no idea it would be this difficult getting private accommodation especially trying to do it without being in the UK. Any help would be well appreciated. Thanks

hi, I'll be heading to reading, but I'm yet to get my visas. The accomodation stuff has been a source of worry to me too. I'm sure sharing a flat won't be a bad idea. I'm a lady and interested. guess we should talk. cheers....

Thank you. I really appreciate.

what happens if you don't have a copy of the old letter?

Well.... just in case you ported your sim like most of us did because of the craziness associated with re-registration at mtn centres, then you may want to call Gideon and be sure about things.

I ported my mtn sim to glo and considering that bulk SMSes don't deliver to ported sims, I made that call and found that I'm actually on the list.

This is not in anyway intended to raise false hopes; I'm sharing because I genuinely believe some one might benefit.

Congratulations to those who were successful. To those who weren't, I feel your pain. I know the exact feeling I had when I opened this thread and found that people had received SMSes but I had not. In those times, I consoled myself that other opportunities would always come.

Moving on can be tough, but having something to look forward to makes it easier. I know that PTDF which has an even better package is out, common wealth and also chevening. A guy posted a link here for scholarships in Australia. Focus on these along with some self-development schemes and you just might find that not having your name on that list was in some weird way, a blessing in disguise.

Stay blessed!!

congratulations to all those who were invited.

I have a concern and I need your kind inputs as always;

I have read that bulk SMSes are not delivered to ported numbers. I recently ported from mtn to glo.

This is not to stretch my hope, but I'm just wondering if this might be the case for some of us, and if it's possible to confirm that it is (or not).

Thank you...

@Orokhe & Dynssy singular noun attracts singular verb & vice versa

So you are saying that instead of 'the dogs bark at night', I should rather say 'the dogs barks at night'? Really? And Yvonne is concurring to this?

Please forget I ever commented on this. I mean, whooh!!! This is not where I parked my car... please can someone direct me to the SCHOLARSHIP thread? I'm sure I must have missed my way.

Hi pal, I'm sure you meant to say, ' singular nouns attract PLURAL verbs'. #winks.

Now back to the important stuff; what's up with NDDC? They better not get me mad enough to visit their office because they won't find it funny. I'm sure they've heard my story. # angry mood activated

LOL
you need further details yet "you believe completely"
let me tell you why he will not tell you.
Things have changed this year, n the scholarship slots will not be enough for those that were invited. So the scholarship will now be awarded on a first come first serve basis.
Thus those who make it to the venue first are the ones that will get it.

Lwkm @ first-come-first serve. Jeez!! This is the funniest thing I've read since FFK stopped talking. Good one.....

Donchrlso, congratulations on your invitation. And thanks for sharing with us; we more than appreciate.

However, could you please assist us further; share some non-compromising contents of your invitation such as date and venue with us. That way, you'd equip us to reach out and make findings for ourselves. You never know, ur information could buy someone a chance.

Please don't get fazed by the doubting thomases, I believe you completely. As a matter of fact, going forward, u should talk to me directly, as ur one and only true believer.

Congratulations once again...

Sorry for butting in on your conversation. I believe I have info That might help that's y....

Some UK schools could take a while to respond so I suggest u contact UKEAS (UK education advisory service). They don't charge a dime, and they could really speed things up for you. I know this because I was in a similar position to yours last week, I contacted them (really disturbed them) and got my letter same day.

They have an office in Abuja and their head office in lagos. I don't know their lagos address and have none of their lagos contacts. I'm sure Google can help you find them. You could always call them but a visit to their office would definitely be more effective.

All the best...

What's the screening process like and how many people make up the interview panel?

All I've done is accreditation. I'm yet to see the panel.

I'm curious though, is there anything in particular I'm supposed to glimpse from knowing the number of panelists?

..... And go with your first school leaving certificate. I don't know if it's compulsory, but I know that mine was requested for and a photocopy taken from me.

Make photocopies of all your documents. Print everything including the reference page that popped up after the application. Do not forget your bond of good conduct.

Ehmm.... All the best pals.....

My dear, it seems imos cut off was 35 o. I made 37 and have been invited.
i really dont understand why we are labelled as educationally priviledged and hounded for it. Abi dont other states have schools?

Congratulations on your invitation. Well, before you start feeling like your people are the Einsteins of our time and are being punished for it, know that NDDC SCHOLARSHIP runs on a quota system.

What this means is that every state has its quota. The quota from what I understand is largely dependent on oil production. Based on this, u can't expect an Akwa Ibom or a Rivers to have the same quota as Imo.

Because Imo state has fewer slots, it's only natural that their cut-off be higher than States with larger slots. Are we together?

I hope I didn't burst your bubble this morning. All the best in your interview.

On a different matter, please who knows someone that knows someone that knows an NDDC scholar, we need help prepping for the interview.

Hi guys. For those who have been kind enough to share their experiences, may Oluwa butter your bread. At least I can lay aside the incredibly ridiculous cinfores and focus on other things (still mourning my 5k though)...

I have a question please; I have observed that in most exams, current affairs which as the name implies is expected to test knowledge of current trends rather tends to test knowledge of history.

My question is; were the current affairs questions really current affairs or just history with a wrong tag? Please kindly extend your kindness to putting me through on this..... Thank you.
