Just reading this in this thread. I must say it's the best transcript I have read ever! this is where preparation meets opportunity. This one no be luck. it is intentional preparation executed to perfection!!!!!!!!!! well done

lydia19:
Wao, u r really so prepared. Nobody will hear all these and not give u the white paper congrats
quote author=Messibliss207 post=63241245]Hello fam. You guys are the bomb. My visa was approved this morning 13th... Lagos.
I got into Lagos yesterday and lodged at New World hotel in Obalande. It's less than 10 minutes to the embassy. I was interviewed by the black woman in window 4. She was sharing blue paper like biscuit. She denied my friend who I went with. Here's my transcript

VO: (smiling back at me) good morning ma'am

ME: good morning ma

VO: pass your passport and i20. Where are you going to in the US

ME: i'm going to Ball State University in Muncie Indiana

Vo: what's your major

Me: Computer Information Systems

VO: what's your highest degree

ME: BA English Language

VO: why the change to Computer Information System

ME: I caught a passion for IT while in the uni. And as the media director in school I had a lot to do with the computer. Also Nigeria is transferring her business processes from manual to automated so acquiring technical skills will make me remain relevant in the Nigerian business world. I hope to build business modules and softwares that will revolutionize the Nigerian business world. (she was nodding at this point so i continued) I hope to run projects with organisations like Andela that are promoting ICT to women in developing countries like Nigeria to close the gender gap between the male and females in the ICT field in Nigeria. This is because according to the Nigerian National Bureau of statistics, the ratio of male to female in the ict field in Nigeria is 3:1 so I hope to work with these organizations to run projects that will close this gender gap. (at this point she was smiling widely)

VO: how did you hear about Ball State University

ME: the first time I heard about ball state uni was at an education seminar in port Harcourt in 2015. (she nods in agreement like say she follow me go) Then my uncle also recommended it

Vo: (cuts in) how did your uncle hear about this school

Me: he stays in Indiana though in forte Wayne but he told me the school is one of the best in Indiana. (she nods) (I continued) I also carried out a research about the school and the community where ball state is situated

Vo: whos paying

Me: my uncle. He's a Medical Consultant and the CEO of

VO: (cuts in) oh the same person that recommended the school (I said yes and continued spilling my uncle's profile) why is he paying instead of your parents

Me: (smiling widely) he's actually paying back. My parents trained him in medical school so he decided to train me as a way of giving back

Vo: (smiling and nodding) what area will you specialize in

Me: information security system. This is because of the high rate of cyber crime in Nigeria. Actually someone close to me lost a huge sum to cyber crime recently.

Vo: what are some of the courses you will be doing
Me: business application development, Info security system ,computer networking for business, database management system.

Vo: do you do c++ or is not part of it
Me: c++ is for computer science major. The difference is while computer science major is concerned with technology and it's improvement, computer Information systems is concerned with technology as a strategic tool that promotes business.

Vo: I can see you're already working in the IT field, did you get some certifications?

Me: yes ma'am. I did a short course on Data and statistical Analysis and also on computer networking, Cisco networking to be precise
She kindly puts my passport in the basket and brought out the white paper (she kept it far away and was busy giving people the blue paper).

Na so I take Waka today. Thanks to @drocks and @Jerrypeacelinks you guys are too much. Jerry may God give you an approval moro. You're a really nice person. Thanks everyone... You guys made this happen. Lemme go to Balogun market and start my winter shopping.
All glory to God.. He's so faithful. When you do your part (preparation) God will do his (grace). Bless you all

whatever you do try to avoid Salimae. It's quite easy to get but I think they have the highest rates and they dont even refinance.
I refinanced to Laurel Road. I found them to be way cheaper than what I had before. my old loan was at the rate of 8.5% got it down to 6% now.

rate usually depends on your credit score, credit score of cosigner and the lender. Will also advise you chose the fixed interest rather than variable

elbeee:
Please who can shed some light on private student loans. I have a ready cosigner but im not sure of how it works in terns of repayment and interest rates. Also what companies offer the best rates.
Thanks

Dear Nairalanders

God is good. My student visa was approved on Tuesday 24th June 2014 I Lagos after 2 vista refusals in April and September 2013.
These were my odds
1. No standardised test written as GRE was not required for my course and TOFEL was not required for Nigeria.
2. My I20 stated $41k approximately 6.7million and I went for d interveiw with SOA of 1million.
3. I filled my cousin's details in Maryland as where I would stay during the period of my course because Indy previous application I had indicated of existence.
4. I am single and without a child.

Against all these odds God favored me the only documents requested was my letter of admission from UMD. NOTHING ELSE......

I will post the transcript as soon as I get hold ofmy laptop.

Travel / Re: I Am A U.S. Consular Officer: Ask Me Your Visa Questions. by ebjay: 3:00pm On Jul 29, 2013
VisaOfficer:

Hmm, well, based on the above, I don't see any reason why you shouldn't apply again... but if nothing about your life has changed since your last application, or if your last interview was very recent, it may be difficult to convince the officer that you are not an intending immigrant. Every case is different, so it's impossible to say anything definitive based on the above. Sorry, I know that's not a satisfying answer. My guess is that you are young and single and cannot yet demonstrate firm ties to your home country. Again, a refusal is not a permanent ban, but if nothing in your life has changed since your last refusal, you likely won't qualify the next time either.

Thank u sir.

I applied in April this year... is it too recent to apply again.

What do u mean something changing in my life... still working in the same company i have worked in for the last 5 years, still not married.. does it mean I shouldn't bother reapplying or can I do hotel reservations and apply again?

Is it also safe to say the chances for young single pple to visit the US r slim

Thanks

Dear VO.

Thank you for the initiative. . I know you attend to immogrants only but then I know u would be in the best position to advice even non immigrants.
I applied for a US visa April last year buh I was denied.. this is how the interview went though.

Why do you want to go to the US
I am planning my annual vacation and decided to spend it in the US

How long will u be staying
Max of 2 weeks because that is how long I can get of work

Where do u work
(I answered)

What do you do there
(I answered)

How much do u earn monthly
So so after tax

Do you have anybody in theUS
Yes, my aunt

What does she do
She works as an accountant with so so

Where would you be staying
With my aunt at so so address

Have you travelled outside your country before
Yes to to Spain as an infant and to Ghana, Republic of Benin and the Uk

Are u married
No

Sorry u are not eligible for a visa now
Please may I ask y?

Then the VO hands me a paper that states vthat its either what I filled is different from the answers I gave or that I wasnt able to show strong ties to my home country and convince the VO that I will be coming back.

Now the problem is that I wanna apply again but I dont know what I did wrong and need to correct but am very sure I was truthful and answered the questions basked just as I filled the form.
So if it is bout showing strong ties how do I do that especially when I wasnt even asked to show any documents.

I will be grateful if u can advise me exactly aw to go on reapplying again.

Thanks

joxiri: @ebjay this your case is funny oh I usually urge some cockiness but it seems like it might have been your downfall, and probably your aunt you said you were going to stay with

Its usually best to use a hotel reservation for america

Okay so now that I wanna reapply again do I use the hotel reservation or do I still stay consistent with my aunty

Also did you apply your self or use agent?

Sorry but you a're not eligible for a US visa at this time.

Pls may I ask why ?
VO handing me a form it's all written here.... I 'read the form but it is the same ggeneric form that is handed to applicants that were denied... It states that it is either you were denied because what u filled In the form is different from the answer ugave or because u were not able to convince the VO Beyond all reasonable doubt and sshow sstrong ties.

For one a'll the aanswers I gave were exactly what I filled cos it was the ttruth and I don't know how to show stronger ties in answering the questions asked me....

Pls help cos I Wanna app,y again but don't know what to correct or how to apply approach it.
