They have compensated modric for his world cup performance, so that he doesn't have his eyes fixed on the best player award |

Luck, a bought goalkeeper and a judo manoeuvre were all used while it appeared as though people had grown tired of blaming the referee. Half the world were looking to find an excuse for Real Madrid's historic victory in the Champions League final. If Zinedine Zidane's team has moved fans more than they ever managed, then at the same time those against the club have come up with ingenious ways to knock them with what appears to be the rebirth of anti-Madrid behaviour. The fuel reserves in order to start the stories, to which Cristiano Ronaldo aided in a daft way, apparently have no end. The idea is to reserve praise and devalue what has been won, look the other way, come up with anecdotes to downplay it and while you could look to excuse it in forums, when it is fully analysed, this was never the case with Cruyff's Ajax, Beckenbauer's Bayern, Sacchi's Milan and Guardiola's Barcelona. These teams were always praised to the heavens but Real Madrid who continue to beat records, no. Of course, Karius was a factor in the final, while Keylor Navas, fantastic in the final two games of the tournament, gaveaway goals against Juventus and Bayern. In the Europa League final, Griezmann scored after a mistake, and these things happen but some mistakes are highlighted more than others. If another player other than Benzema scored then his scoring instincts would be praised but instead all the focus is on Karius. Luck is being used to explain what has happened under Zidane who has won three Champions Leagues in one year and 364 days. For me I never thought that luck was a bad thing but now it appears that it is intolerable if the opposing goalkeeper makes a mistake, or if you score an overhead kick. Menotti has spoken about luck in the goal by Bale, these types of comments are sad when you consider they are about players that know how to win titles. The latest has been the accusation of a judo move to explain the injury by Salah following his coming together with Ramos. If he had not been injured then he would be barely remembered but the European Judo Union have talked about a prohibited move and it has been talked about in prestigious newspapers. In the end it is better to take all this with humour, right now Real Madrid fans are the happiest in the world and building work needs to be done to make room for more trophies. PS. Congratulations to Lyon, three consecutive women's Champions League victories. |
