Business / Are Paper Cups 100% Recyclable? by ecobins: 7:14am On Oct 14, 2019 |
According to huhtamaki- Environmental charity Hubbub has today launched a new funding initiative aimed at helping local authorities and other organisations launch or scale-up coffee cup recycling schemes, after receiving funding to launch the scheme from Starbucks. Called the Cup Fund, the programme will offer successful applicants grants of between £50,000 and £100,000 each to develop schemes and infrastructure which ensure that as few disposable paper cups as possible are lost to disposal methods. Winners will also receive ongoing support and guidance from Hubbub. The funding will be awarded on a competitive basis and is open to a range of organisations wanting to increase infrastructure but lacking funding. The UK now has enough specialist recycling facilities to process and recycle all of the disposable paper cups used nationwide every year and the Cup Fund will help to further accelerate recycling rates of paper cups. The Cup Fund is open until 24 May 2019 and winners will be selected by an independent judging panel, which includes members from the likes of the Local Authority Recycling Advisory Committee (LARAC) and the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM). Applicants will be required to prove that their scheme is ambitious, scalable and suitable for high-footfall areas. It is estimated that 1:12 of all paper cups in the UK will be recycled in 2019 More than 4,500 paper cup recycling points for consumers to return cups via bring banks and in-store take back schemes 115 local authorities now collect paper cups with paper cartons Over 20 waste collectors are now actively participating in schemes to increase recycling of paper cups Five reprocessors are accepting and recycling paper cups including ACE UK, DS Smith, James Cropper and Veolia. Business / What Are The Motives Of Integrated Solid Waste Management? by ecobins: 7:27am On Sep 20, 2019 |
According to thebalancesmb The Importance of ISWM as a Waste Management Approach With rapid population expansion and constant economic development, waste generation both in residential as well as commercial/industrial areas continues to grow rapidly, putting pressure on society's ability to process and dispose of this material. Also, inappropriately managed solid waste streams can pose a significant risk to health and environmental concerns. Improper waste handling in conjunction with uncontrolled waste dumping can cause a broad range of problems, including polluting water, attracting rodents and insects, as well as increasing floods due to blockage in drains. As well, it may bring about safety hazards from explosions and fires. Improper solid waste management can also increase greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, thus contributing to climate change. Having a comprehensive waste management system for efficient waste collection, transportation, and systematic waste disposal—together with activities to reduce waste generation and increase waste recycling—can significantly reduce all these problems. While nothing new, an ISWM approach provides the opportunity to create a suitable combination of existing waste management practices to manage waste most efficiently. For any waste management and disposal idea information you can contact witn Adelaide Eco Bins, a south australian waste managemnt company, Hope this will help a lot. |

Business / What Costs Are Involved In Recycling Plastic? by ecobins: 2:37pm On Sep 12, 2019 |
One of the main alternatives to which recycling is compared is the disposal of the recyclable waste in landfills. Since no sorting or processing is required beyond transporting the waste to the landfill, it appears at first glance that landfill disposal is cheaper: it requires less money for human labor and less energy for work done by machines. It's for this reason that Mayor Michael Bloomberg put a moratorium on recycling programs in New York City in 2002, and the diversion of recyclables to landfills for those 18 months was estimated to save the city $57 million. Adelaide Eco Bins of South Australia provides best services for waste recycling within very cheap amount. So contact with them now if you are living in south asutralia. |

Business / What Do You Need To Recycle Plastic? by ecobins: 8:32am On Sep 06, 2019 |
According to Moneycrashers: How to Recycle Plastic Some plastics are easier to recycle than others. Municipalities that accept plastic for recycling generally accept numbers 1, 2, 3, and 4. This is because recyclers have an easier time of finding buyers for these. And like most businesses, supply and demand is what drives success or failure in the recycling industry. What About #5 Plastics? Up until the past several years, few communities offered a way to recycle #5 plastic, primarily because there was little demand for it. We see #5 plastic in all sorts of consumer products – from yogurt and cottage cheese containers, to small plastic takeout food containers, to hair care products, to screw-on bottle lids. If your community hasn’t yet established a #5 recycling program, there are other options you can take advantage of. Corporate Recycling Initiatives Companies like TerraCycle, Preserve and, to a smaller degree, Aveda Corporation have built a demand for these and other types of hard-to-recycle products by creating “upcycling” programs: TerraCycle’s Brigades allow schools and nonprofit groups to collect various types of plastics, send them in, and receive a donation for each item they receive. The company partners with the manufacturers of those products and creates programs to turn waste into new, useful consumer products. They’ve turned discarded candy wrappers, chip bags, and single-use drink pouches into purses, totes, pencil cases, trash cans, placemats, and even “eco speakers.” Preserve’s Gimme 5 Program accepts returned #5 plastic containers and turns them into new toothbrushes and razors. Consumers participating in this program earn RecycleBank points that can be redeemed for discounts and deals at various local and national businesses. Other companies are beginning to jump on this bandwagon as the concept of product stewardship and consumer demand for more green products has grown across America. Contact Adelaide Eco Bins for best recycling services in Adelaide, South Australia. |
Business / How We Can Dispose Of Plastic Bags Effectively? by ecobins: 9:56am On Sep 05, 2019 |
Landfilling To be frank, all plastics can be disposed in landfills. However, landfilling is considered highly wasteful as it requires a vast amount of space and the chemical constituents and energy contained in plastic is lost (wasted) in this disposal route. Incineration Plastics are derived from petroleum or natural gas, giving them a stored energy value higher than any other material commonly found in the waste stream. Recycling Many plastics can be recycled. and the materials recovered can be given a second-life. Biodegradable Plastics Biodegradable plastics are plastics that decompose by the action of living organisms. Contact Adelaide Eco Bins for plastic waste management. |
Business / What Is A Personal Response For Waste Management? by ecobins: 7:32am On Sep 03, 2019 |
According to sustainabilityexchange It is important to understand that as we all produce waste, we all have to take responsibility for it; waste is not just the responsibility of someone who moves it around for us or who manages or disposes of it for us. Waste management legislation clearly places certain responsibilities on the producer of waste so it is important to be clear under what circumstances your institution is acting as a waste producer. Guidance is given in “Waste Management: The Duty of Care - A Code of Practice”. This defines a producer as: the person who made the substance become waste e.g. by breaking or contaminating it the person who decided that a substance was unwanted and therefore waste For example, where construction work is taking place, the waste producer is the person actually doing the work that produces the waste, not the person who issued the contract or gave instructions for the work to be carried out. You can of course, specify within the contract how you want the waste to be managed e.g. reused or recycled. Also you can contact with Adelaide Eco Bins of South Australia for professional waste management service by the help of best technical team. Hope this will help you. |

Business / What Is The Importance Of Biodegradable Waste? by ecobins: 8:12am On Jul 06, 2019 |
Biodegradable waste is important because of the way waste builds up in landfills and in the environment. Non-biodegradable waste collects and can take centuries or even millennia to break down. Biodegradable waste can be separated from other types of waste and then composted. This causes it to break down quickly, and some kinds of composted waste can then be used as fertilizer. By having biodegradable waste instead of non-biodegradable waste, we can greatly reduce the amount of trash collecting in landfills and in the environment, and instead turn our waste into something useful, such as fertilizer. Also you can contact with Adelaide Eco Bins, who is an expert of Biodegradable waste and organic waste management. Hope this will help you a lot. |
