Facebook was literally created in 2004 and it didn't become a thing until around 2007.Chaii or which Facebook are you talking about
jibovico:
Correction please, Facebook is older than Nairaland. I first heard of Facebook about 1999 or 2000. At that time, the internet was just gaining ground in Nigeria and Facebook was just an avenue to contact lost loved ones not even for chats. Chatting was introduced later

Family / Re: I Have Failed At 30 And Want To Commit Sucide by efembaba(m): 4:25pm On May 04
Bro. Don't take your life. It's truly hard and it's not your fault but suicide is not thr option..

Look at the pieces of advice given and follow the one most practical for you. Above all, give your life to Christ and commit to a church. Don't mind what any ignorant person may see. You'll find true fulfilment when you are in God's purpose and that starts by coming to His Kingdom. Also, apart from the spiritual blessing you get in a believing church, you'll discover true friends who genuinely love you and will connect you to opportunities..

You will laugh at your self in few years time for ever nursing a plan to commit suicide

Thanks so much. I will do as advised. I will go back on Monday.
ProjectsCityNG:

The machine you were told to scan your card is sold on the black hack world. Once the card is swiped in, it copies the entire code in the magnetic bar code everything. And transfers it to another location. A new card is then printed within minutes with your details. Sometimes they spy your arm pin, other times they have hidden camera that is hanged around the ATM that takes photos of you entering the pin and that's all. I won't release the name.of the machine so as not to teach rubbish. It's a planned work. Go and have that security arrested. Or head to the bank and the bank will do the needful. That ATM machine has been rigged

He didn't swap your card. Tell them I said the device you entered your card for scanning stole your magnetic bar code information and another card was done at another location. Whoever handed you the device to scan your card did it.

This tech is as old as 20 years na. Make una dey read or level up knowledge na

This is what to do. They should give you the log location where the ATM was used. They should then release the CCTV footage of the user at the pinged location. This is how to catch an IT Thief

I will confirm it here. Even if it's 100 naira. I'll still be grateful. I have no money till eat till they pay me next week

Thanks 🙏🙏

What time in the evening
And was there anybody close to you ?
I don't know if they have started using this trick in Nigeria....
The insert a device on the mouth of the ATM that receive the card ...
Once u click eject the card doesn't come out until they remove the device the add to the ATM.
As for the pin they use a small camera to see you as you input your pin

Hmmmm they just played the CCTV to me now. The guy who told me about scanning was actually close at my back.

Also, even though not clear, he seemed to have swapped my card too. Truly I lost guard embarassed.

I don't know what to do now.

That's all the money I had save the 1200 in my wallet.

I'm done for.

Please is there any hope of recovering my money at all or catching the guy?

I'm so depressed right now..

This is what I have been waiting for... Something STRANGE and out of the ordinary happen at the ATM....Yes, that is all they need to wipe your money ..When you go to the ATM, anything strange or any new tactics/instructions especially at odd hour (that is after closing time of d bank), DO NOT TRANSACT!!!Bros, I think your money is gone and that bank security might be part of the game ..
Crime / Re: All My Money Just Got WIPED OFF!!! by efembaba(m): 10:29am On Apr 26
My card was with me all the while. All I did was try "scanning" on what I have come to realise is the biometrics scanner on the ATM which has has alwayd been on that machine and has stopped working for long. (I'm in the First bank right now meeting with them). Then I inserted my card in the ATM and it stuck. The security guy confirmed it both yesterday and now. He asked me to come back today

Now in the bank, the card is no where to be found.

The most important thing now is that
how can I catch the thief? Isn't there anything the bank can do to get my money back?

Jollos:

U don loose guard. I have been expecting you to say something strange that you noticed.
There is no smoke without fire. You already know how your money was wiped
Crime / Re: All My Money Just Got WIPED OFF!!! by efembaba(m): 9:04am On Apr 26
Thanks.
I didn't donate to any church POS or any POS
I don't trust anybody and I keep my stuff personal.

Yesterday when I was trying to withdraw at the bank? I noticed something new.
I was told I had to scan my card for security reasons. The stuff is on top of the machine (ATM). I tried scanning as told then I inserted my card but the whole thing started misbehaving asking me to insert my 8-16 digits pin (It was the first time I ever experienced such). I didn't fully know what the 8-16 digits meant but I inserted my ATM pin which to my surprise was visible on the screen. I immediately deleted

I strongly suspect that the guy behind me (who, together with another person who had left at this time, told me about the scanning stuff must have seen my pin when it showed on the screen.

Now the thing is, my card didn't fall down at any time and I am absolutely sure it was my card that was inserted and swallowed.

So, even if the guy I think saw my pin did, how was he able to access my card which is supposed to be in the machine.

I will be going to that bloody bank now. I hope they are ready to see a mad man

faceland:

Sorry. I can only speculate. Just go and set camp at the bank because it looks like inside corruption from the bank (even knew the account balance to make sure they clean it).

1) Hope you didn't donate to a church POS?

2) Hope you don't know a criminal that you trust? Could be someone is with your real card & pin. The ATM swallow that card because it wasn't yours (swapped) so the pin wasn't correct.

I informed the security guy I saw there and he said my card had been swallowed and that I should come the following day (which is today). Then I left there.

Also, Is it now a must to use one's bank's ATM? or are you saying this because of what happened to me? People use different ATMs all the time. Should that be a problem?

Solofresh2:
How can leave your ATM swallowed till the following day without informing any security official or anyone about the it.Someone must have been watching you then probably was able to get back the ATM only to start withdrawing your money.
Why didn't you also use an access bank ATM since it is access bank. Why using an access bank card to withdraw from a first bank ATM?
Well, going back to that ATM is a waste of time so go to any nearby access bank to block both the ATM and the bank account. Then, show them the account withdrawing your money. So that it can be traceable and tracked.
Make sure you arrest the culprit

Nigerians are there own problems

This is the screenshot of the withdrawals

I have never borrowed any money from any loan app before.

faceland:

If someone who knows your pin isn't with the card... In Nigeria, no one has that technology to remove your money via website.

If not for the oyinbos, I can snap my ATM card front and back and post here because you can not finalize the withdrawal without phone verification (even if successful, it is pending in ledger balance for a few days).

Show screenshot of the alert, you probably took loan or connected your card to one of these shitty apps with right to withdraw at my will.

I went to a First bank ATM to make withdrawals last evening but the ATM swallowed my card. So I had to leave hoping to come back the following day (today Friday) to get my card back. On my way home, I started seeing debit alerts on my account! All the 181k in that account has been wiped off now.

The debit came from one POS/WEB PMT T GOD BLESS.

I'm so devastated right now.

I called Access bank and they said they would get back to me, I have also asked that they block the account.

Please what can I do?
Is there any hope of recovering my money back.

I AM LEFT WITH NOTHING !!!

PLEASE HELPPPP
