Finally seen someone in my field. Also have Bsc Geology and Msc petroleum geoscience. Although I have been seeing some geology jobs on indeed here and there was one ExxonMobil one and there is even a Canadian govt one now that deadline is in Oct. 2019. However since I hear the oil industry is shaking in alberta I am open to a career change. My sis is in ontario so I plan to go there for family support since I have small children and my hubby isn't relocating yet. I am thinking of project management plan to do to PMP certification here in naija before leaving.

gogedda:
Good day Seniors and all. I am happy to have gone through the last thread and this new one. You are indeed doing a great job. I can gladly say I am part of this thread now. I submitted my application since October 2019, glory to God, I got my PPR Jan 15, 2019 and my application has been approved too. I will be picking up my Passport from VFS this week. I intend to land in Calgary in MAY, 2019. Below are my profile and questions

- Single Applicant (Age: 33)

- Education (Bsc Geology, Msc. Petroleum Geology)

- Certification:
- Advanced Food Safety management training (A pre-arrival program sponsored by the Canadian government)
- CCNA & CCNP (Expired since 2012)
- Several Oil & Gas training courses

- Work experience.
- Current: Realtor/Real Estate agent (3 yrs)
- Previous: (Water Borehole Geologist (3 yrs)

(1) I understand I will need the APEGA licence to work and also that the oil & Gas sector of Alberta is quite down now, I would have loved to work in this sector. Has anyone gotten a job on landing as a Geologist without the licence?

(2) I also understand that I need a licence to practice in the Real Estate sector too. Has anyone gotten a job as a Realtor or Real Estate Agent with monthly pay (plus commission) in Calgary, If yes, how viable & financially rewarding is it? I wouldn't mind doing a short course for this if I can truly get a job quick in the sector. I also don't mind referrals

(3) I did the Pre-arrival Advanced food safety management training course (it is a 21- certificates course). Do we have anyone here working in the food processing industry, can I get a job on landing with this certificates.

(3) Lastly, I am open to new opportunities and don't mind changing career path as long as I can get a good job. If I am to do this. Which other paths and sectors can I explore that will be financially rewarding in the long run, which will also lead me to the managerial position someday. Pls note, I am ready to go back to school and do diploma course for this. I already checked out some courses in SAIT, but I need to know which one is really viable with huge job prospect.

- I am sorry for my long post, I would like inputs from our seniors living in Calgary. cc Salford1, Einsteino etc. Thanks

- Can someone Pls add me to the calagary whatsapp group. Thanks

@ aworldcitizen.

Mine took exactly 11months. I suggest you send them a mail to politely complain. I did so and 3days later I got my PR. My visa officer mailed to ask if I can make it before medicals expires since it was going to expire shortly. I told him I would make it and the very next day my PR was issued.

Hello Everyone!

Please, do not ignore

I seem to be a bit late but it's better late than never. Please, is there anyone writing TEF here? Can we meet and rub minds together regarding the exam? A different thread, an occasional meeting or a Whatsapp group would be really nice. I really need some motivation. Just quote me and I will reach out to you.

Regards.
Pls where and how can one register for the TEF exam?

Thirdly Its almost 3weeks since I submitted no PPR yet but some get it next day after they submit. I don't know if I should be worried at this point. Thanks

Hello guys,
I think I am on IP2 in my application. I got a mail from Integration and Foreign Credential Referral Office on how to find a job in canada. Is that a good sign or just a general message they send to everyone?

Hello All, please someone should answer this question for my express entry profile I used my maiden name for the Expression of interest. Post ITA I had to do a new passport because I don't have up to 6months in my old passport and I used the opportunity to change my maiden name to my husband's name. my question is how do I change my name on my profile because it is locked in. Also do I change the part where they ask for passport number to the new one? I plan to take the new one for my medicals would it cause a problem since it would have a different surname from the one I used to apply for Express entry

Gurus in the house please help me answer this question. I have currently been issued an ITA. Can I delete my profile and change my NOC. I just found out that my NOC doesn't have to be the same with my education. I have experience in 2 different NOCs but I based my application on one that is same field as my education but to be honest I have more proof and experience in the second NOC. If I delete my profile and enter d pool again and I get another ITa and change my NOC will it backfire. Will CIC have record of the previous one I wrote?

Hello people,
I am about to apply for the EE. We are a family of four 2kids and 2adults. My son was born in Canada. Does he need to still do medicals since he is already a citizen and do I need to still pay the application fee for him. I am guessing I do not have to but someone was arguing that I do hence my confusion.

I thank God for this forum. It has been very helpful. Let me also share my experience. I had my baby in Calgary at Peter Lougheed hospital. From my experience I wasted money by giving my host family Dr my 100dollars and then 60 dollars the second visit. The OBY/GYN she found was charging 830dollars for my first visit delivery was going to be at Foothill. DR fee was 5000k ( I was 32weeks pregnant then). I attached the outpatient hospital fee at Foothill.I ran away and found another doctor. There is a clinic called NE women clinic. They understand that foreigners come to give birth in canada and can hook you up with OBY/GYN the docs there are physicians(family dr's) they charge just 50dollars for each visit. The doctor at NE women clinic hooked me up with a doctor at Peter Lougheed. The dr fee was 1020dollars maybe because she started handling my case at 36weeks and all the Dr visit before pregnancy was included in the 1020dollars.I am also attaching the hospital rates at Peter Lougheed. Overall I spent about 10k including all the doctor visits, scans, lab test etc. I waiting to apply for birth certificate. Pls can someone give me the contact at Nigerian embassy for the emergency travel document. Thanks
