BACTERIAL VAGINOSIS (BV)

Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is an abnormal vaginal condition that is characterized by a whitish-grey vaginal discharge with unpleasant smell. The term bacterial vaginosis is used to refer to the intricate changes of vaginal bacterial flora (i.e bacteria inhabiting the vagina) due to loss of lacto-bacilli, an increase in vaginal PH and an increase in anaerobic and aerobic bacteria. Bacterial vaginosis as the name suggests is caused by bacteria. BV is also know as vaginal bacteriosis.

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMSBACTERIAL VAGINOSIS SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS

The main symptom of BV is a vaginal discharge. BV is one of the most common causes of vaginal discharge in women of child bearing age. The discharge is often white-grey in colour and often has a fishy smell.
The smell may be more noticeable during sex. The discharge does not usually cause itching or sore around the vagina and vulva.

CAUSES

Normally, there are a lot of good bacteria and few harmful bacteria in the vagina. The good types help control the growth of the harmful types. Bacterial vaginosis (BV) occurs when these harmful bacteria out grows the good bacterial. Although the bacteria is of low virulence, It causes discomfort when infection co-exist with more virulent organisms. The risk of getting bacterial vaginosis is higher if you have more than one sex partner or have a new sex partner, douche or smoke.

RISKS

➢ BV and pregnancy;
If you have untreated BV during pregnancy, you have a slightly increased risk of developing some complications of pregnancy. These include:
● Chorioamnionitis – inflammation of the membranes that surround the fetus (chorion and amnion).
● Miscarriage.
● Having your baby early (preterm birth) with risk of cerebral palsy if the baby survives.
● Having a low birth-weight baby.
● Developing an infection of the womb (uterus) after childbirth (postpartum endometritis).
➢ BV and surgery;
If you have untreated BV, the chance of developing an infection of the uterus is higher following certain surgeries such as termination of pregnancy or a vaginal hysterectomy.
➢ BV and other infections;
If you have untreated BV, you may have an increased risk of developing HIV infection if you have sex with someone who is infected with HIV. You may also be more likely to pass on HIV if you have HIV
and BV together. There is also some evidence that women with untreated BV may be at an increased risk of developing pelvic inflammatory disease (PID).

DIAGNOSIS

Bacterial vaginosis can be diagnosed by the following tests:
➢ Testing the acid level of your vagina; The discharge of BV has a typical PH level (acid/alkaline balance) compared to other causes of discharge. In addition, if an alkali is added to a sample of the discharge, it often causes a characteristic fishy smell.
➢ Taking a sample (a swab); To confirm the diagnosis, a swab of the discharge should be taken from the vagina and sent to the laboratory for testing. Large numbers of various bacteria that occur with BV are seen under the microscope. More than one swab can be taken from the vagina to rule out other causes of vaginal discharge.

TREATMENT

There is a good chance that BV will gradually clear without treatment. Any disruption in the balance of vaginal germs (bacteria) maybe corrected naturally with time. So if you have no symptoms or only mild symptoms you may not need any treatment. However you may be advised to take antibiotics treatment depending on the severity.
Such antibiotics are metronidazole tablets, metronidazole vaginal gel or clindamycin vaginal cream, clindamycin tablets or trindazole tablets.

PREVENTION

➢ Do not push water into your vagina to clean it (douching). The vagina needs no specific cleaning.
➢ Do not add bath oils, antiseptics, scented soaps, perfumed bubble bath, shampoos, e.t.c., to bath water.
➢ Do not use strong detergents to wash your underwear.
N.B; The logic behind these tips is to try not to upset the normal balance of germs (bacteria) in the vagina.

Information got to us about the ongoing protests by the angry crowd. It was a Biafran movement which is related to Nnamdi Kanu’s hearing in court today and #freeNnamdiKanu movement. The crowd was something I’ve never seen before. They moved in streams. Each consisting of about a hundred people. I cannot really quote the exact amount of people who participated in the movement but I can atleast speculate they were far above one thousand people including both men and women of different age brackets. Some who are in support gave some items such as water, fruits, etc… while other citizens stood and watched as the crowd moved past them in all manner of clothing. Flags of various sizes could be seen and pictures of Nnamdi Kanu. Below is a clip I managed to record and some pictures that might help you understand the extent.

Following the early hours of this morning, Movement has been restricted and everything in a standstill in Umuahia the capital of Abia State. This is due to the protest going on along Aba road Umuahia. The crowd are seen below moving into town through Gate (Isi Gate) and several other streets. Various gestures have been anticipated by these protestants with different flags of Biafra and framed photos of the Biafra radio boss Nnamdi Kanu. These protests are related to the release of Nnamdi Kanu. FREE NNAMDI KANU!!

Different movements have been seen in many states of this country. This is the first in Abia state regarding the release of Nnamdi.

Following the attacks in France's capital Paris known as a coordinated attacks. French officials said that at least 129 people were killed on Friday night in Paris. Another 352 victims were wounded. ISIS claims responsibility for these attacks. So far the news reaching us shows a list of victims though an official list of the victims has not yet been released.

Nohemi Gonzalez, 23: A junior design student at Long Beach State University from El Monte, California, Gonzalez was studying abroad at Strate School of Design in Sevres, France. She was killed in a shooting outside of a restaurant.

Nick Alexander, 36: Alexander, of Colchester, Essex, England, was selling merchandise at the Eagles of Death Metal show at the Bataclan when he was killed, according to The Independent.

Lola Salines: Salines has been identified as one of the victims by her father, Georges Salines. She was killed at the Bataclan concert hall. She was a member of the La Boucherie de Paris roller derby team.

Asta Diakite: Diakite was a cousin of French soccer player Lassana Diarra, who said on Twitter she was killed in the attacks. Diarra, who was playing with the French national team in Paris when the attacks occurred, said his cousin was like a sister to him.
Elodie Breuil, 23: Breuil’s brother, Alexis, told Time his sister was killed while watching the Eagles of Death Metal at the Bataclan. He said his sister was a design student.
Cedric Mauduit: Manduit was a local councilor in Calvados, France. He was at the Bataclan with friends when he was killed.
Mathieu Hoche: Hoche was a journalist for the France 24 news station, according to the BBC. A colleague tweeted that he is survived by a 6-year-old son.
Quentin Boulanger, 29: A Paris resident originally from Rheims, France, Boulanger was killed at the Bataclan theater, the BBC reports.
Mohamed Amine Benmbarek: A citizen of Morocco, Benmbarek was identified on Facebook by a relative. He was a newlywed, and his wife was also shot in the attacks. She is in critical condition, said Akram Benmbarek, Mohamed’s cousin.
Fabrice Dubois: The ad agency Publicis Conseil said one of its employees, Dubois, was killed at the Bataclan theater. He worked for the agency for 20 years and leaves behind a wife and children.
François-Xavier Prévost, 26: Prevost was killed at the Bataclan, La Voix Du Nord reports. He was at the concert hall with friends. He lived in Paris and was originally from Lambersart, France.
Milko Jozic, 47: Dogan was killed along with his girlfriend, Elif Dogan, according to LaMeuse.be. He lived with his girlfriend near the Bataclan. They had moved to Paris from their native country of Belgium in the past few months.
Elif Dogan: Dogan was living with her boyfriend, Milko Jozic, near the Bataclan. They had moved to Paris from Belgium recently, according to LaMeuse.be.
Elsa Delplace: Deplace and her mother, Patricia San Martin, of Chile, were killed at the Bataclan theater, her friend said on Twitter. Deplace and her mother were Chilean, but living in Paris. Her friend said Deplace had a 6-year-old daughter.
Patricia San Martin: San Martin was killed at the Bataclan theater along with her daughter, Elsa Delplace. She and her daughter were both natives of Chile living in Paris.
Luis Felipe Zschoche Valle: Valle was the third Chilean citizen killed in the attacks at the Bataclan, CNN reports. He was a musician living in Paris for the past eight years.
Mathias Dymarski: Dymarski, originally from Metz, France, had moved to Paris last Fall. He was killed at the Bataclan theater along with his girlfriend, Marie Lausch, Le Republican Lorrain reported.
Marie Lausch: Lausch moved to Paris from Metz, France, in September 2014 with her boyfriend, Mathias Dymarski. They were both killed at the Bataclan theater.
Aurélie de Peretti, 33: De Peretti was killed in the Bataclan theater, her sister told Time. She was from Saint Tropez, in the south of France, and loved music. She played the guitar and piano.
Halima Saadi, 34: Halima Saadi, and her sister, Houda, of Tunisia, were both killed at a restaurant where they were celebrating a friend’s birthday, News 24 reports. The sisters were living in France with their brother, who survived the attack.
Houda Saadi, 35: Houda Saadi was killed at a restaurant targeted by ISIS gunmen in Paris along with her sister Halima. The Tunisian women were living in France with their brother, who survived the attack. They were at the restaurant to celebrate a friend’s birthday.
Manuel Dias, 63: A Portuguese citizen, Dias moved to France 45 years ago, the Portuguese American Journal reports. He lived with his wife and children in France. His wife and children were in Portugal to obtain documents for his son’s upcoming wedding, the newspaper reported.
Marie Mosser, 24: An employee of Universal Music France, where she worked in communications and marketing, Mosser was killed at the Bataclan theater, CNN reports.

The first executive Governor of Bayelsa State, Diepreye Solomon Peter Alamieyeseigha is dead at 62. Alameiseigha reportedly died after he was rushed to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) in Rivers State.
Sources from family members claimed that the ex governor suddenly fell ill in Ammassoma township of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, which is his hometown in Bayelsa state and was rushed to Port Harcourt.

Alameiseigha, popularly known as "Governor-General of Ijaw Nation was pardoned by the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan for his conviction on corrupt practices as Governor of Bayelsa, was recently thrown into a panic state by the strange request by the Government of the United Kingdom for his extradition.
Alameisiegha had in recent times also been a strong advocate of the second term aspiration of the incumbent Governor of the State, Seriake Dickson.

In his last outing under the political group; Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State, D.S.P Alamieiseigha insisted that the perceived coming onslaught of the APC in the State during the forthcoming December 5 Governorship will not work as the State is sorely for the PDP.

Subtitles, is simply a caption for foreign-language movies. The write-up can be used as a caption in silent movies as it aids for better understanding of the motion pictures. Most of these subtitles are embedded into the movie file extension names which are in the form of; .mkv, .avi, .vod, .mp4, .wmv, .3gp, .mpeg and more. These file extensions are found usually at the end of the file names. Example, “Terminator 3.avi”. More about these formats are discussed here. However, some of these movies do not have subtitles in it. Are you desperately or in need of these subtitle for better clarity? Then no cause for alarm, some applications has the options to read some subtitle files.
These subtitle files can be downloaded separately from the internet and then with the use of these special video players, subtitle files are very small files which are approximately 28kb and can be decoded into the movie and then displayed in a synchronized pattern. The subtitle file formats includes file extension names such as; .cdg, .idx, .srt, .sub, .utf, .ass, .ssa, .txt and many others. Applications for integrating these downloaded subtitles include; VLC media player, Total video player, DivX player, MOBO player. Mobo player works mostly on android devices. As at this write-up, I haven’t checked the Mobo on other devices running other platforms.
Steps for using subtitles;
1. Install the necessary video player for example; VLC, Mobo Player, DivX player etc., that has subtitle options on your device.
2. Download the necessary subtitle file for the movie via http://subscene.com/
3. Locate the movie and play it with the video player.
4. Right click on the player background, locate subtitle and click to select “add subtitle” form there you can browse the file you have downloaded and select it.
N/B: Most subtitle files downloaded from sites come in zip file extensions, so these files must be extracted for use.

You cannot make these phones run other file extensions without the use of certain applications and programs which has the capacity to run other file extensions different from the predefined ones. Some smart phones like blackberry, android phones, iPhones, Symbian s60 phones, some china (giffen good) and also windows phones, run some more advance video files such as .avi, .mp4, .wmv, .mov, .flv amongst others. So, you can use the sample video on your device to know the right video file format for your phone. This can be identified by checking the file extension. These file formats may not work on all devices and may be displayed as ?? unkown. This is the only way to find out the true file format.
