Nope that’s not true.

Largest economy is based on GDP output not the value of your currency.

If economy is mentioned by dollars , Nigeria is in 3 rd place , you have already seen dangote drop 4 billion dollars in rich list .
Foreign Affairs / Re: Prevent Dedollarisation - US Congressional Hearing by EKONGKING: 6:13pm On Jun 22, 2023
One more important thing is ,If countries of world print excess money the currency will be depreciated and they will face rampant inflation .

However America has none of the worries as it is world currency it won't face depreciation against currencies of vast majority of countries and they will just tranfer rampant inflation to the rest of the world.

That why dedollarisation is such a scary prospect for Americans , no easy money to go to war repeatedly and no more bullying of other countries.

BRICS summit in South Africa is an era changing summit .

Lol, what exactly is your beef with the US ??
You seems to be obsessed with the country, obsessed enough to be jumping from thread to thread to express your "feelings" about the country & also remember that stupid thread you created sometimes ago blaming the west for all your troubles in Africa.
Hoping and wishing that we fall isn't gonna make you feel any better. You gonna have to deny the US so many of it attributes before you can even think of succeeding - that spirit that draws immigrants from ever corner of the world to her shores, that spirit of innovation and technological advancement (the same one that placed computer in every pocket). The same China you pinned all your hope on her wealthiest citizens won't allow the EB5 visa to rest. I know you don't really like china it is just a case of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend".
It also very refreshing that someone like you can say a million people in the US are homeless, lol.

All the technological innovations and advancements along with migrants coming are all due to dollar and it's status as world reserve currency.
U.s.a can just print money like there is no tomorrow and invest in technology of any kind and see the results in form of patents .
People get attracted to the country as there is money to be made and you can getting funding for ur ideas as there is no shortage of money in a country which can print at will.

Now look at China and India to give a example.
You cannot print ur currency out of any problem ,the simple reason is ur currency is not global reserve currency and nobody accepts it outside.
So countries like China and India do not have money for excesses as they have to operate within its budget meaning less funds for technologies and research.

When silicon valley bank collapsed there is world wide panic among startups as 60percent of world startups have taken cheap loans or deposited money in it.
All because of easy and cheap money made possible by dollar printing and u know what when silicon bank collapsed ,American government saved it by printing even more money.

People especially Africans donot understand the coming dedollarisation , Russia war is just a side show.
The real battle for China ,Russia and some middle East countries is dedollarisation.

In YouTube they are fantastic sites by Indians especially a channel with name Think schoolexplaining what dedollarisationn is and how it will effect you ,wherever you are in world.

Yes Saudi Arabia and Qatar are religious and their religion gave them a hard stance on issues of gays and lesbians. China isn't as religious like Saudi but they are valuing their traditions and culture hence they're strong.
But these other African nations together with India are weak. They have nothing they stand for. They can be tossed around by any global powers and they will bend. The US knows that, that's why they they busy enforcing their agenda on these weak nations.
Why can't they try it in Cuba?

Count India out of it ,
This Modi and his current foreign minister has grown balls to confront U.S.A regarding economic issues . India is importing Russian oil ,refining it and exporting it to Europe etc with 19 dollars commission .
Now these Western people have started manipulated justices of Supreme court to pass laws regarding Gay marriages etc.

As a Nigerian based in tech industry in India , i know what is what .
All Indian political parties will repeal it via constitution amendments ,if they don't it will be political suicide for them .
Since Indian IT is based on 70percent of revenue on U.S.A and europe , they have to bend to allow Gay rights .
Regarding gay marriages ,it will be political suicide for any party supporting it .

When GDP is calculated in dollars ,it will drop .
But no need to worry as we will easily grow 6 to 7 percent and will regain it in 4 to 5 years .

Yes if Tinubu continues with reforms -Nigeria can easily get to 10% economic growth - it has insane potential. The reforms he has made were easy - boardroom decisions.

The hardwork
1) Reforming the security sector - increase budget - but ensure army ad police - are not corrupt - but welfare improved - proffesionalism introduced. It should be like kenya - nobody has ever heard of an army guy beating someone since 1990s or 1980s. Nigeria need armed forces reforms like happen in kenya in 1990s - called Tonje Reforms. DO NOT WASTE MONEY BUYING WEAPONS - spend all that money on welfare of the soldiers. Increase their salaries, provide them with best healthcare insuances, provide them with life insurances, kit them with best guns - provide for their retirement - housing. Motivate them. Then retrain them. Demand discipline and proffesional output. Dont go buying Sukhois and other shitty chinese or russian or american toys. Irresponsible army will sell it to terrorist.

2) Reforming the electricity sector. He may need to form electricity police unit to crackdown on illegal connections. That has to be top priority,

Once security is assured and electricity is available - Nigeria will grow at 10 percent for decade or more - because there is just a lot of crazy potential.

So true,

There is so much to work and he is hitting on so many correct paths.

All we want is a prosperous Africa , Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya ,Tanzania ,Ghana etc will be great and free from western imperialism .

That was unexpected, I was expecting a Rise.

But instead first trading day closes at 664.

It seems hoarders are dumping their dollar stockpile, I was expecting them to hold on to it in anticipation of a rise.

Lets hope market will stabilize and maintain same rates , we can even be at 2 position in GDP in Africa at present ,if the same rates hold.

Gone are the days of 2 percent growth in GDP year on year . I expect no less than 5 to 6 growth rate from now on and we will ultimately regain NO1 in a few years from now .

Buhari could have removed it...but APC had an election to win. It would have been a bad move. The best time to do it is at the Beginning of any administration.

- Year 1 - Remove subsidy, deal with the issues
- Year 2 - People start seeing the benefits of removal of subsidies...more funds to States, LGAs and more infrastructures. People will still be complaining.
- Year 3 - Stabilization and reduction in price of fuel, foods, excess product, more forex and eyes on the prize.
- Year 4 - Planning for Election and continuation ---Everyone is excited about the bigger project plans and the way forward.

If you wait too long and get to stabilization, you might not be able to usher people into bigger plans and projects before next election.

Bro ,why did he waited so long , until end of his term so has to leave many unpopular decisions to new president, Tinubu .

We voted for a general ,who is tough on criminals as well as terrorists like boko haram and ESN and end result is massive failure .

when countries like India ,Indonesia etc are progressing , we are stuck with dead wood like Buhari.

Nigeria is raising from ashes ,no thanks to Buhari.

Imagine davido or any American musicians telling Atlanta police how to do the duty.

Davido is a private citizen ,he should not command police , same thing works with police as well , if u do duty honestly you don't need a singer to advise.

Politics / Re: Why Tinubu Was Able To Remove The Subsidy? by EKONGKING: 4:37pm On Jun 09, 2023
MasterTeeUSA:
It is important to note that this is my own opinion, and you are free to dispute this.

Obasanjo: Obj was a new civilian President. He was saddled with trying to unite the country and recover the country's loots from Abacha years. That was his priority in addition to recruiting capable hands to manage the economy...an area I do not see him as an expert in. Obasanjo was mostly hands-off allowing experts to do their job, and the return to democracy was on his side. Investors came in with high hopes, and countries forgave us our debts. Removing subsidy was not a priority at all.

Jonathan
: GEJ was an accidental President. Yar'Adua was supposed to rule Nigeria after Obj for 8 years. It is very possible that there was an alliance to ensure power shifted to the North. Everyone including Atiku worked against Obj's 3rd term agenda. Power was meant to be shifted to the North. Yar'Adua died and it became impossible to impose a new leader without a coup, so the accidental President became the President. All throughout GEJ, most of the opposition to his governance were not really about reason or whether positions taken were good or bad governance...it was simply to force him to resign so power could shift to the North. Maybe he should have called a special election, but he did not. He could not remove subsidy because he was barely trying to hold on to power.

2023 Election: Obi wanted subsidy gone, Atiku wanted subsidy gone, Tinubu wanted subsidy gone. If Obi had won, he would have been saddled with trying to reconcile with the North. Protests would be ongoing in the country especially in the North where they have a low trust in Obi that it might be an agenda to make life difficult for them. Atiku would have faced a similar problem with the South. Southern Gov like Makinde and Wike worked against him. They would have called the removal of subsidy a punishment of sort, and trying to unite the country would have prevented subsidy or force him to reverse. That would have delayed subsidy removal.

Tinubu: He was clear too that subsidy had to be removed. He released a manifesto, spoke to stakeholders, aware that subsidy removal would help Dangote Refinery unless we continue to pay subsidy to Dangote which would have created a major issue...and most importantly Tinubu had the support of the Northerners and Southerners. Removing subsidy is HARD, but the reason the country is not collapsing is because there is enough trust that this is not targeted or against some over others. Now, everyone is busy discussing solutions, what they should do moving forward, or what they should have done. Labour Unions in the South might be hardliners, but they are dealing with a President from the South. They all have people that can speak to them. The South do not want anyone to destabilize this administration, and the North voted overwhelmingly for it as well. This is the reason Tinubu was able to remove the Subsidy. He is JAGABAN, but this was more than just a matter of mandate. This is purely about Trust...this is what Nigeria needs, and this is why some of us supported him. A President trusted by ALL (mostly ALL)

All this unnecessary trouble for Tinubu and Nigeria would not have happened had Buhari mustered a quarter of tinubu courage .

I don't understand the reason of islamic supression and extremsim in these countries.

India is Hindu dominated, where muslim themselves are killed.
Myanmar is Buddhist dominated, here almost entire population of Muslims in the country are driven off to bangaladesh .
Colombia ,here Muslim account for 0.05 percent of population . 99.9 of religious people are Christians.

So why do these people Target only Muslims when Hindus, Buddhist and atheists are killing Christians .

It's a freak accident, one superfast train hit a goods train and collapsed on opposite tracks only to be hit by incoming superfast train in 30 seconds.

Rip to dead.

I hope they will be accountability inspite of freaking nature of accident as why in first place a super fast train hit a goods train in first place.
A country can be great if there is accountability not due to population or GDP.
