NorthPrince: NOT about copying them, bro. How about the Ghanaian cedi? We say "cedis" (plural)—for cedi amounts greater than 1 cedi. We say "euros". We say "pounds". We say "rands" (South Africa)... for money amounts greater than "1.0" unit of these currencies. For me, there's no wisdom or logic in keeping a naira quantity over one naira as a singular naira. |

We say, "1000 dollars." (dollars -- PLURAL) We say, "1000 euros." (euros -- PLURAL) We say, "1000 cedis." (cedis -- PLURAL) And so on. But we don't say, "1000 nairas." Rather, we say, "1000 naira." (naira -- SINGULAR) Why? 1 Like |
