Family / Re: Who Is The Right Person To Choose As A Next Of Kin ? by Elhef(m): 2:29pm On Nov 22, 2011
Siena,
Thank you for that timely intervention!
Family / Re: Who Is The Right Person To Choose As A Next Of Kin ? by Elhef(m): 5:48pm On Nov 21, 2011
I think most people are mixing things up. Nominating someone as your next of kin does not transfer a right on your property should you die. Next of kin simply means the person that could be contacted if need be on your behalf. If what you had in mind is who benefits from your inheritance when you die? I think that will be better addressed in a WILL because if you died intestate (without a will) , an administrator shall be appointed to administer your property. Therefore, let us wise up and draw up our WILL and not give anything to chance. WILL is the only legal documents recognised.
LAWYERS IN THE HOUSE, pls help us out!
Education / Re: 62 Graduates Bag First Class In UNIBEN by Elhef(m): 11:28am On Nov 17, 2011
@ Acidosis ,
As much as you have a right to your opinion, I do not agree with ur claim that it's easier to make 1st in schs like UNIBEN compared to DELSU. The truth is that if you attended any Nigerian Uni, you would have come across many lecturers saying all those jargons, A's for God, B's for Me, C's for exceptionally brilliant ones etc. But the truth is that if you deserved a 1st , nobody can deny you. There are periods that we on our own caused a lot of things and b4 we realise it might be too late. If not for some distractions I ought to have made a 1st but I did nt. And I couldn't put the blame on anybody. Distractions that we wouldn't have taken cognisance of , KILL!
Education / Re: 62 Graduates Bag First Class In UNIBEN by Elhef(m): 10:52am On Nov 17, 2011
Forgot to say that, Jarus you are really representing our alma mater. Nice one.
Education / Re: 62 Graduates Bag First Class In UNIBEN by Elhef(m): 10:51am On Nov 17, 2011
First class is an achieveable feat, if you are determined to achieve it. That is not to say that some impediments could not hinder one's efforts at times as enumerated by Jarus et'al. There is nothing in the university statutes that says all the students can't make 1st if they deserved it and there is not nothing that says they can't always fail. Like what pple used to say abt d geology dept in my alma mater (1st generation university) that no student graduated in a particular academic year. Also, distraction is one of the factors that impede some ordinarilly 1st class material not to finish 1st. I have observed that Nigerians are very brilliant set of people and this has been proven with all the laudable feets they achieve outside the shore of Nigeria.
For the young nairalanders, strive and you shall achieve it!

@ chamber 2
I suggested economics because I believe, it is going to be of great benefit to d guy. However, I have encouraged him to put his acts togeda and show interest in mathematics because I believe economics will be more beneficial to him given that he is doing business already. Or rather he should go and study law with bias in business and contract!
Education / Re: Easiest Course To Read In University by Elhef(m): 11:42am On Oct 25, 2011
chamber2:

[sub]what is the mathematics in political sci apart from statistics? Those in political science are expected to take statistics at their 200 and maybe 300 levels. It's not peculiar to IFE alone.

The poster seems to be a busy person and therefore needs a course that he can combine effectively with his business. Reasonably, as a business man, business admin would have been the ideal course for him. But in this case he needs something he can handle along side his business.

In business admin you get to take the following mathematics courses;

Business mathematics
statistics
Micro and macro economics
Accounting
Cost and mgt accounting
Business forecasting etc

These courses require proper attention and hard work compared to political science courses. In a typical political sci program you are expected to take the following course;

African politics
Political thoughts
Nigerian legal system
Statistics for social science
Local govt admin
Sociology

This is the mistake that most people make, not having the depth of the requirement of various courses but just want to draw some generalization. Somebody said political science in some schools require mathematics but that statement was quickly debunked to mean that other schools also offer statistics . I graduated from OAUIFE and studied Political Scienece. I never had issues with mathematcis anyway because, it was one of my best subject in secondary school and even in the university. I did maths throughout my first year in Ife SSC 105 & SSC 106 ( mathematics for social scientist) ditto for other social science departments and administrations.
In my 2nd year, Idid statistics as well as micro and macro economics . part 3, i did contemporay political analysis that using mathematical and statistical models to analyse events, behaviours and events e.t.c I am saying all dis so that , the person asking question will not be misinformed.
Infact most people have extra years because of this misinformation. Given that they never had the depth of the requirement of the courses they are studying.
Social Science is a science, hence the application of some mathematical and scientific tools for analysis.e.g simulations , game theory, modelling e.t.c
To the poster, I will advise that you put your act togeda and study economics and try to develop your mathematical skills. It may be the best for you , so I think!

Good Afternoon All,
It seems,we are getting discouraged already!Today is 5th of Sept but the last post on this thread was 2nd sept. This is just a wake up call to everyone that we sholud keep the thread alive and furnish the house with information.
The latest info I gathered when I spoke with someone in AMCON is that we should exercise some patience because they have not called anybody yet. That we should give them some couple of weeks. Therefore, I want to encouarge everybody that have been invited for the 3 man panel ineterview to start calling the number they called you with when you were invited.
Please, let us be cautious and polite when we call so that we will not miss the essence of this exercise. My reason for advising that we sholud be cautious is to prevent provocation form both sides.
We deserve to know the updates, SO LET US START CALLING NOW!

HELLO ALL,
Above is one of the posts of arikibe which I retrieved from his post history . I called him on the number provided and he denied having any knowledge abt AMCON medicals. I had sent personal mail to him and he has nt responded.
It's two ways: It's either he's lieing or hoarding info(nt wanting to bring himself to the limelight for fear of much enquiries). I will sugget that we conduct our independent researches about this development and when we have a reasonable info, we update the house and take our mind off this guy because, he's nt ready to provide info.
House, let's put our trust in HIM. HE has taken us this far and will never shame or disappoint us. AMCON is a done deal for all .
Let's rest our nerves.
BYE FOR NOW, !

Islam for Muslims / Re: Tarawee/night Prayers by Elhef(m): 10:54am On Aug 12, 2011
@ md4 real
tarawee is observed afta salat isha'i. It's 10 rakats , 5 salams. It's nafila which must be perfomed in jama'h. Also, if u joined in the course of the prayers, u don't to repay the missed ones as it's obtainable in the compulsory salat.
Hope , this simple explanations meet your quest. May Allah accept our fasting and prayers as Act Of Ibada'h. Amin

BSF
Never be bothered with anybody's dispositions when u are negotiating. Ofcourse, you need to be mindful of countenance so dat you knw d direction of the negotiations. Whether to relax or maintain your quoted price. One thing you bear at the back of your mind is that the employers want the best @ d best cost possible nt necessarily the cheapest cost. That , the interviewers appear " visibly angry" is a psychological posture to make u shift your ground. Am still very positive. I had the same experience and they ask me to jusify why I wanted the amount dat I quoted and I did . Dat they are convinced abt the quoted amount by me is another ball game. You will definitely make offers based on their pay structures, years of experience and other considerations. It will nw be left to you to accept or reject.
WE SHALL ALL LAUGH AND REJOICE AT THE END OF THE DAY.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Amcon Interview Next Phase! by Elhef(m): 10:42am On Aug 08, 2011
@ ayandee, I think am nt in the best posotion to determine whether dat's too high or low. However, please neva post ur negotiated price on social ntwrk lyk dis again. Lot of people are accessing dis platform. Best of luck.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Amcon Interview Next Phase! by Elhef(m): 9:57am On Aug 08, 2011
@ danny2010, i think you shld nt be despair at dis stage that we are. The truth is dat because the process is getting unnecessarily prolonged, a lot of people are geting discouraged. Please , let's keep praying to God that is good plans abt abt us as regrds this recruitment shall come to pass. With info dat I gathered and the indepedent research dat I had conducted on my own, AMCON will be a gud place to be. First, it's specialised bank(bad bank) dat is going to deal in alot of investment banking actvities. Being a new org, opportunies are abound for pioneer staff vis-a-vis qualitative trainings and sound career progression. Indeed for people dat aspire to be a rounded financial expert, amcon is a gud place to be.
Furthermore, it is being managed by someone dat has worked all his life in the investment subsector of the financial industry for over 20 years.
As regards d pay, during negotiations, a lot of factors come into play. it does nt really matter if someone has priced him/her self lower or higher. The hiring organisation will definitely make an offer to you if you had shown the qualities they desire during your various interactions. I had a personal experience and even a cousin. That we priced ourselves lower and when we got d job, we are offered far more than what we requested.
Please, let us all still press further and don't be discouraged. Best of luck to ALLOFUS
