A woman Charlotte Brown, on her first date with a man she met online met her sad end. She had been thrilled to take her first trip on a speedboat when she set off after a meal in The Shard skyscraper on Tuesday, her relatives said.

According to reports from , the 24-year-old business development consultant from Welling, south-east London, met her 29-year-old date online and the pair had been in contact for around a month, with Ms Brown “excited” to see him in person, according to her family.

But the after-dinner boat ride turned to tragedy when they were thrown into the water. The coastguard was called after receiving reports of screams coming from the Thames near Wandsworth Bridge, south-west London, at around 11.45pm. The pair were pulled from the water and rushed to hospital, but she later died.

Her sister said: “Even the best swimmer in the Thames at his time of year, with the current conditions and the cold, I don’t see many people standing a chance without a life jacket.

“We don’t know exactly what happened. If she was wearing a life jacket there is a chance she could still be here today.”

Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, the Executive Governor of Kaduna State has called on Nigerians to thank God for delivering Nigeria from the hands of former president Goodluck Jonathan and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

According to El-Rufai, President Buhari inherited a sick country from Jonathan, his predecessor, on May 29, 2015. He further went on to state that the manner of deceitful transactions that went undisturbed under the former administration of Goodluck Jonathan were more alien than fiction.

El-Rufai spoke at the opening of a three-day retreat whose theme was “Journalism and the Change Mantra, State House in Focus” organised for State House correspondents in Kaduna, by the Presidency and was hosted by the Kaduna State Government, as reported by Signal.

El-Rufai, who spoke on the topic, “The choices before the State House Press Corps in enabling change,” said penalties of the uselessness and fraud perpetuated under Jonathan’s reign are simply becoming visible to all.

He said, “The responsibility that has been thrust in the hands of the new government is immense. The APC inherited a country at the tip of failure.

“As is becoming clearer by the day, some of the things that went on under the previous government are stranger than fiction.

“The consequences of the incompetence, the thievery and the divisive ethos that reigned are only becoming clear.

“Nigerians are only beginning to realize that the Jonathan government, despite years of $100 oil, was borrowing to pay salaries. The PDP simply ran this economy aground.

Wonders they say shall never end, a Zimbabwean woman after 10 months of pregnancy was delivered of a strange looking baby in a Harare Hospital on the 14th of November as reported.

According to Mzamzi Online news, the Parirenyatwa doctors were stunned to see the baby.

“I’ve never seen such a thing in my life here at Parirenyatwa as doctors we know and believe that when a woman is giving birth, the head comes first and the legs last. To my own surprise this baby like creature brought her legs first” said Doctor Chenyeke.

The mother of the baby who is identified as Sharon Kujeke refused to take go home with the baby.

To the lovers of Hollywood and Fox TV movie, Prison Break Season 5 is here at last. Though the release date has not been revealed, the story was officially confirmed by Fox.

Recall that Prison Break back in 2009 ended in an interesting manner in Season 4, but it still left most of its viewers with the thought that some scenes need to be added to the great movie. The many followers of T-Bag, Michael Scofield, Sucre among other incredible act now have a new Season 5 to watch out for with Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcel returning in their roles as Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows.

Prison Break was all about the story of Michael Scofield, played by Wentworth Miller, deliberately getting jailed in the same prison as his brother Lincoln Burrows, played by Dominic Purcell, in order to help only his brother, who was jailed and on a death row for a crime he did not commit, to escape. Along the way, Scofield made some friends and some enemies, some of which he helped escaped alongside himself and his brother.

Fans still expect T-Bag to feature in the new series and if he does, it is very likely that he will be coming for payback against Scofield and Burrows.

It is still unclear whether the movie which is expected to be out by the summer of 2016 will have a change in title or not.

Governor AKinwumi Ambode of Lagos State during a special meeting with members of Nigeria Inter-Religious Council (NIRC) held at the State Secretariate, Alausa, Ikeja, warned mischief makers (hate preachers) among the religious institutions to immediately cease from the act as his government will not stomach religious intolerance in the state.

The governor also disclosed that from next year, the state government will begin inter-face religious conferences where all religious bodies in the state, irrespective of their denominations will participate and would be coordinated by NIREC. Ambode, represented by the State Commissioner for Home Affairs, Dr. Abdulhakeem Abdullateef, explained that the government would stop any religion leader who preaches hate messages that is capable of endangering people’s freedom.

Governor Ambode went further to state that inter-face religious conferences where all religious bodies in the state, regardless of their denominations will take part in will commence in the state. The conferences will be organized by NIREC.

“Henceforth, we’ll start to monitor mosques and churches and ensure that clerics do not engage in hate preaching, he said.

“Our constitution in Nigeria has recognised the freedom and rights of every citizen to express himself or herself in a way he or she believes. The right to freedom of religion, conscience and the right to express it publicly, individually or in community with others, to express to observe, to practice and propagate it.

“Section 42 of the constitution goes further to say nobody on account of expressing himself should be subjected to any form of discrimination. So, if we are talking about peace, peaceful co-existence, then tolerance is key to all of us.

“Let it be known to residents that henceforth, Lagos government in collaboration with Nigeria Inter- Religious Council (NIREC), will not tolerate hate preachers. These are the people who do not preach their religion but continue to spread mischief about people of other religions. We will not tolerate religious intolerance.

Embattled Senator Kabiru Marafa (APC-Zamfara), staged a walk out at the red chamber over the composition of standing committees of the Senate in Abuja on yesterday.

It was reported that the Senator interrupted plenary session during a debate on the adoption of 8th Senate Legislative Agenda. According to him, it is illegal for President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki, to go on with the matter when the issue of composition of Senate committees had not been resolved.

The Senate President ruled him out of order, on the grounds that Senate had adopted the Votes and Proceedings of the previous day. Angered by the ruling of the Senate President, Marafa walked out of the red chamber.

Meanwhile, the Court of Appeal sitting in Yola on Tuesday upheld the ruling of a tribunal sacking Senator Bashir Marafa and ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to issue Certificate of Return to the All Progressives Congress candidate, Yusuf Abubakar.

According to DAILY POST, Bashir Marafa of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, representing Taraba Central Senatorial District was on September 30, removed from office by the National Assembly Elections Petitions Tribunal in Taraba State. The tribunal said the petitioners in the case, the APC, and its candidate, had proved their case beyond reasonable doubt.

Marafa, however, appealed the tribunal’s decision in their separate judgements on Tuesday, the three judges, Jummai Sankey, Duobele Abraham and Ridwan Maiwada of the Court of Appeal, unanimously agreed that the appeal lacked merit and was therefore dismissed.

Uruguay and Barcelona forward Luis Suarez has disclosed ahead of Saturday's Clasico clash that the Real Madrid defence is the toughest he has faced in his career.

Pastors of the Christ Apostolic Church on Tuesday attacked and assaulted Vanguard Newspaper Assistant Photo Editor, Mr. Dare Fasube. It was learnt that no fewer than 10 pastors from one of the two factions of a crisis-ridden CAC that threw their pastoral callings to the wind and attacked the assistant Photo Editor at the premises of the Federal High Court in Ibadan.

The attacked Photo Editor who is recovering from the assault was alongside others at the court when the incident, happened last week Thursday. The church which has engaged in a leadership crisis for a very long time now and emerged into two factions, which include the General Executive Council and Supreme Council with each sides claiming ownership of the church.

Both factions who had been in court over an alleged forgery of some church documents was initiated by the the Supreme Council. The former General Secretary of a faction, Pastor Gideon Okegwemeh, and Akeem Mohammed, former Director of Corporate Affairs Commission who were been docked by the court when coming out of the court room ran into Mr. Fasube who tried to take photographs of them, when about 10 men who came out with them to court descended on Fasube, asking why he wanted to take their pictures.

The former director who was trying to cover his face and turning away from the camera While trying to focus his lens properly to get the shot angered other “men of God” who asked him why he was running away and he told them that the journalist wanted to take his picture.

The angry men approached Fasube and maltreated him even as his colleagues told them that he was a journalist and was only doing his legitimate business. All entreaties to the “men of God” who reportedly came from Lagos fell on deaf ears, until the commotion attracted court officials who intervened.

The presidency has debunk reports from several quarters that a huge sum of N6b had been lavished on the Maintenance of the presidential Air fleet (PAF) in the last 6 months.

Mallam Garba Shehu, who is the Senior Special Assistant to the president on media and publicity made the clarification. He said in a statement that only N2.3b had been spent contrary to the huge figures making rounds.

Shehu expresses regrets that the president had to be distracted by some “fictional report”, which he had “caused the government a lot of negative reviews especially in the online media”.

The statement reads: “The government is focused on solving the many major issues our country faces in the areas of the economy, corruption and security. Yet almost every week, the Presidency has to also deal with the distractions which do nothing but distract from the task of government.

“Referring to documents he had requested from the Operational Office of the Presidential Fleet after his attention was drawn to the speculative report, Malam Shehu pointed out that the sum of N2.3 billion was released to the Presidential Air Fleet (PAF) by the office of the Accountant General of the Federation between May and November 2015. This includes releases for personnel cost, overhead and capital expenditure out of the sum of N5,190,381,386.00 appropriated for PAF on the 2015 budget.

“The documents also showed that the sum of N2,127,103,086.66 had so far been expended, leaving a balance of N172,568,912.34 from the amount released.

“However, the sum of N149,062,791.12 was transferred from the PAG’s operation account to the Treasury Single Account, following the President’s recent directive,” he said.

“He added that the sum of N23,801,122.17 remains unutilised out of the funds so far released. During the period 31 May 2015 till date, the Fleet expended the sum of N1,358,910,962.75 to settle outstanding liabilities carried over from last year till May 2015. Furthermore, the sum of N500 million was refunded to the office of the National Security Adviser, NSA for financial support rendered to the Fleet prior to release of funds from the OAGF.

“Thus, the Fleet expended the sum of N449,081,037.25 within the last months comprising N98,500,218.00 for operations, N165,373,176.91 on training and N85,500,116.75 on personnel medicals and overhead. Additionally, the sum of N99,715,493.51 was expended on aircraft maintenance, spares, and subscription services required for operations.

“Any of these documents could have been made available had the newspaper reached out to me or to any one of my colleagues. The damage to the image of government and the good management of the Presidential Air Fleet could have been avoided”.

The Presidential spokesman also noted that the number of aircrafts on the Presidential fleet was 10, not 14 as being rumored, even as he gave the inventory of the planes to include:
