You don't have to start ANY job without first signing an offer letter, don't rush, request an offer letter and if they ask you to come pick it up, inform them we have emails (most atimes when you go to pick it up, they would tell you, you have resumed, most desperate people would jump on it not knowing, they have signed up for slavery).

They don't give offer letter, you either take the job or you dont. That is what they will tell you if you request for one.
If you know of a body that one can report them to or contact of a lawyer that can assist probono, I would appreciate because this won't stop unless something is done

It will boils down to you not knowing your right. After a week at least if resumption and no letter to validate your employment, no firm of documentation, you were supposed to smell a rat and talk to someone in the law. It doesn't mean you must go to court immediately but sometimes seeking legal advice is free if you can just walk up to a lawyer friend or any lawyer and relate your issues. Now he has the upper hand coz he played on your intelligence and seized your right🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

I did this already and below is the screenshot of the response I got from a lawyer, note that we were issued the company's ID and the salary description carries the company's name.

I am a lawyer and have sat through several proceedings there and have witnessed the lowest of staff win against the biggest of organizations. This is not a thread for jokes or attention-seeking. As you can see, someone was asking for advice so if you don't have experience in this area why make unnecessary comments to discourage him or distract people who can benefit from the information? There is the romance section or better still jokes section for you to have all the fun you want. Thanks and bye.

Good evening, how can I reach you to discuss going up against this company, the things that can be used as evidence, the proof of employment in the absence of an appointment letter etc.

NATIONAL INDUSTRIAL COURT!

Take that person to the National Industrial Court!

Your employer is not a god. The court will put him in line sharply.

How please and can this be done without an appointment letter?

I think you have to take up the case with a very very strong lawyer.

Labor laws state 40hrs/week of work, any hr outside that should be regarded as overtime and paid accordingly. So you have a good case with a strong labor lawyer.

Does the company not have a handbook?

Is it possible to sue them without an appointment letter?

But how and why do you guys put up with all this nonsense in the first place?

Does it mean that you guys have got ZERO options with regards to where to find work?

How much is the beast of a man even paying for people to be putting up with such nonsense?

I just can't understand why some people will be okay with being treated as slaves, even in their own country.

People will put up with anything to feed themselves.. The salary is 40-60k

Trashy story... You all are cowards. Demand for his sack through a very solid channel.
Get yourself together after work and hold a meeting. Report to ministry of labour with evidences and witness.

If only it was this easy, because we tried and held a protest but some of the staffs involved in the protest are still victimised till now. I would appreciate if you can point out the solid channels

My story is going to be long and the experience is far from pleasant

I worked for Fouani NIgeria Limited, the customer service department.
The manager is Lebanese, most will think this is enough justification for the way he acts but all other deartments in the company(that I know of) all have Lebanese managers but their story is so different from ours aside from the general issue of not giving employment/appointment letters, most these complaints is peculiar to that department of the company

Our manager does not allow any form of interaction amongst worker as you can be terminated for turning your head in the office, as in say you just turn neck o. Someone was terminated for laughing after office hours, work don close o and baba say the guy laugh and the next day na termination straight. Your job security depends on his mood, as he might just decide to terminate you with the excuse of 'we dont want you anymore'

Approval of leave is at his mercy, I can remember a staff, although she was due for 1 week leave, this man denied her despite the fact that this lady was seriously ill, he made her come to work even with the drip connected to her body as he told her she will be terminated if she doesnt work. This lady fainted twice at work that day and had to choose her life by resigning.

This is just one of the many cases of staffs that were terminated because they were absent from work because of illness even after informing he resumed with a medical report after being unable to come to work for 2 days and in this man's word "sorry, you can go home and rest. You will see your salary at the end of the month" That was the end of it.

This man has made the work environment so toxic and it is not strange to see staffs crying after leaving his office as he talks to staffs as if Nigerians are lesser humans, he called a teamlead a slut and accused her of sleeping with her team members because she does not deduct staff break, he threatened Samiat and promised to destroy her because the young lady wanted to quit and go for her youth service.

This man makes it his office policy to to limit staffs restroom usage to 7 minutes, anything beyond this can get you break deductions, warning letters and even termination. Whereas he who sets the rules spends 30 minutes in the restroom (You and I know that no one can control nature).

A Muslim staff was terminated for dosing during ramadan(this man na muslim o, and he prays 5 times daily) and so many others that I can't mention all that have face similar cases on a daily basis. He employs today and terminate tomorrow with a reliable reasons. There is a post on nairaland as far back as 2020 about this man.

Work time is Monday to Saturday 7:50AM to 5:30PM with no visible compensation for working overtime instead he tells you he is doing you a favor and you will get as much as 5,000 deducted from your salary which is more than double of our daily income.

Staffs break are deducted x3 of the minutes they came late to work despite the fact that their salaries will be deducted for same reason. I heard they protested against that recently and the break deductions has been stopped and replaced with more salary deductions for being late 1 minute past the resumption time of 7:50am, not even a grace period of 10minutes.

I made a more detailed post some weeks back on this man, e no easy at all.

If you have an advice for the people still there and know of a way for these ill to be corrected, please reach out and drop your comments as every bit of info here has evidence to back it up

What documents do employees sign before getting the employment fully?

What are the rules, regulations and policies of the company?

A Do's and Don't form is the only document employees are made to sign, no offer letter or appointment letter. Nothing that protects the right of employee at all. For your second question, employees are given office policies and not company's policy, these policies are made by the manager.
No phones are allowed in the office
Maximum restroom time is 7 minutes
Maximum of 2 staffs are allowed to use the restroom at a time(You might get a warning letter for it)
You cannot talk in the office, not for any reason.
Etc

Admin, please help move to FP, so you all will see what Nigerians are going through in the search of daily bread. You get paid between 45k-60k as a graduate working for Fouani Nigeria Limited.
You see grownups come to work and cry when they get their break deducted for the smallest mistake, you get a warning letter for using the restroom for more than 5 minutes, for turning your head in the office, you can't eat in the office and you can't eat outside. You're expected to have had breakfast before resuming by 7:50 am, if not na toilet you go take go chop because oga must not catch you.

I believe Nigeria is past this, evil thrives when we turn the other cheek, even if you can't fight for yourself, cry out so that the person the Lord will send to fight for you will hear your cry.

Good evening house. Its going to be a long read, I tried as much as possible to leave some things out like the lady that had miscarriage and wasn't even permitted to visit the hospital to evacuate the remnant instead she was told to use her break(1 hour lunch break o) or when when he told his staffs that their allowances were used for office maintenance(painting the office)

Please read and advice these people on how to right these wrongs that was and is being done to them

This post is to expose the excesses of one man, Younes Hajj, anybody that has worked in the CIC department in Fouani Nigeria Limited will know what I am talking about albeit the duration of their stay there. Please read and assist in getting justice for everyone who has in one way or the other been wronged by this man, in the 1 year plus I worked at that place, only one title can accurately describe this man, he is The Devil.

I am sure if this post goes viral, a lot of Nigerians will have something to say about this man and I promise you none of it will be good.

This man does not allow any form of interaction amongst worker as you can be terminated for turning your head in the office, as in say you just turn neck o. Someone was terminated for laughing after office hours, work don close o and baba say the guy laugh and the next day na termination straight. Your job security depends on his mood, as he might just decide to terminate you with the excuse of 'we dont want you anymore'

Approval of leave is at his mercy, I can remember a staff, Chidinma that was due for 1 week leave and this man denied her despite the fact that this lady was seriously ill, he made her come to work even with the drip connected to her body as he told her she will be terminated if she doesnt work. This lady fainted twice at work that day and had to choose her life by resigning.

This is just one of the many cases of staffs that were terminated because they were absent from work because of illness even after informing him and providing medical report, Ebere and Julius were terminated because they missed work for 2 days because of their health. Tunde's case was the most recent in this category, he resumed with a medical report after being unable to come to work for 2 days and in this man's word "sorry, you can go home and rest. You will see your salary at the end of the month" That was the end of the young mans employment with Fouani Nigeria Limited.

Whereas he who sets the rules spends 30 minutes in the restroom (You and I knows that no one can control nature).

For a company like Fouani Nigeria Limited, it is laughable that their staffs are not provided with the basic requirement of the Nigerian labour law. No appointment letter is being issued upon employment, just a dos and dont form you sign on the day of resumption, this form contains his office policy and without a document to protect the right of the employee, this man rains terror on employees undisturbed.

Staffs break are deducted x3 of the minutes they came late to work despite the fact that their salaries will be deducted for same reason. This man raised this break deduction from x2 to X3 during the cash scarcity period in February, when getting transportation to work was almost impossible. This was when I decided I could not continue.

All these are happening in Fouani Nigeria Limited (sole distributor of LG, Hisense and Maxi products) CIC department which is headed by Younes Hajj in a country that has laws that protects employee's interest. However, they are not being implemented and this post is to expose happenings within the company and to ask for help from Nigerians to stop this modern day slavery in our motherland. Nigerians are not slaves and shouldn't be treated as such.

All the names mentioned here are real people who has suffered in the hands of this man, I hope they see this post and come out to tell their stories themselves.

Anyone who wants to assist their fellow countrymen who is trapped in this wicked system because of their limited choice and the situation of the country should assist in calling out this man so that the management of the company can call this man to order as I refuse to believe the management of this reputable company are a party to the illegal and inhumane practices of this man.

With the recent case of Mohbads death, i have come to realize that mental health is very very important and the best time to speak out is now, i regret not doing this while I was there and I had to leave because I go to work in the morning with fear of the unknown and I return home with dried tears in my eyes because I know I have resume this tortuous routine again tomorrow. This was my life from Monday to Saturdays until I decided to chose my mental health.

If you have an advice for the people still there and know of a way for these ill to be corrected, please reach out and drop your comments as every bit of info here has evidence to back it up.
