Business / Naira Exchanges 580 To The Dollar - Punch by Emir8: 11:48am On Sep 28, 2021
At the I&E forex window, the naira reached a high of 415.20 to close at 414.90.

The official website of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s licensed Bureau De Change operators, www.naijabdcs.com, used for the publication of exchange rates of the naira to other currencies stopped publication of rates.

This followed the suspension of foreign exchange publication by AbokiFX after the CBN vowed to clampdown on the website, the owner and its patrons.

Despite efforts by the regulatory authority to salvage the naira crisis, the naira lost a margin of not less than 40 to the dollar in two months.

During a webinar earlier in the year which was organised by the Association of Bureaux De Change Operators of Nigeria in partnership with the CBN and other financial regulatory bodies, the association had said that, “ABCON is working with its consultants to revamp the naijabdcs.com to MyBdc.com.”

It would be recalled that ABCON launched www.naijabdcs.com in 2018, to provide data of different rates, names, contacts and locations of the CBN licensed BDCs, as well as for other digital forex services.

Ever since, the website had furnished the public with rates in the parallel market, the way abokiFX had done.

But after the suspension of exchange rates publication on abokiFX, the BDCs’ website did not publish its daily rates.

The CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, had gone tough on abokiFX, after accusing the website and its owner of manipulating the currency to sabotage the economy.

Emefiele said, “Our preliminary findings show that his website is being used for foreign exchange manipulation and speculation.

“They get naira notes, use it to purchase dollars, take a position, change the rate over a given period, sell the dollars they purchase and make a profit. This is completely illegal, it is unacceptable and we will pursue them.”

Romance / Ugandan Woman Marries Three Men And Determines The Roster For Sex (photos) by Emir8: 7:29pm On Sep 15, 2021
Ugandan woman’s rare feat has generated interest on social media with opinions split on its appropriateness. Ann Grace Aguti, 36, married three men – Richard Alich, John Peter Oluka and Michael Enyaku – at the same time with all the men sharing the same compound. On how Aguti met her man-loves, Alich, a retired police officer with 10 grown-up children noted he met her when she was returning home from Brac Uganda, Ngora branch, where she had gone to process a loan.

“Her bicycle had developed a mechanical problem, so I offered to repair it. In the process, one thing led to another and I found myself here. I stay in that hut,” Alich submitted.

“I met her at a swamp where I was grazing my cows and joked about her taking me on as a husband too – and that was it. She allocated me a hut. We have lived harmoniously for close to a year now. I have no problem with my co-husbands. The consensus among us is that mummy (Aguti) determines the duty (sex) roster and her decision is final,” Oluka said.

Aguti’s taking on multiple sex partners has incurred the ire of some people, not least her father Pastor Peter Ogwang. Local newspaper, New Vision reported the incensed father mobilised family members to evict the husbands of his daughter on the compound.

There’s some good news, however, as Aguti, a mother of three, from the Ngora district is reported to be six months pregnant, but it’s unclear if a father will claim the child or the baby will belong to all three men.

Curiously the radical woman who earns a living selling cooked cow trotters used to have more men lovers but booted some out for breaking set rules including one who attempted slitting her throat with a sickle. The three husbands have huts allocated to each of them from the seven huts on the family compound. The land, Aguti says, was given to her by her father after her first failed marriage to settle and start life afresh.

Rebuffing her father’s attempt to evict two of the husbands so she stays with one, Aguti stated: “I was married before in a manner my clan wants but my desire is to have a tender loving husband, who can provide all my needs as a housewife. My husband was useless and I remained the breadwinner. When I left him, I started looking for that special someone, but I have not yet found him because even now, I have to feed the men that I have. So, my search continues!”

Something of an activist also, Aguti says she wants to break the tradition where a man is entitled to two or more wives, but a woman is not allowed to do same.

It does appear Aguti will live with her husbands till a man emerges with the deep pocket to bear financial responsibility for her upkeep whereupon she might divorce the others for that golden man.

With Aguti’s father demanding the eviction of the men as he claims he is unaware of their marriage, the local council and clan ruled that each of the men return to their respective villages only to return officially with identification and introduce themselves to the local authorities at Amugagara.

Upon that statement, Aguti wailed: “My dear husbands, I love you so much. I am not the one chasing you, but your father-in-law and his clan. Please do not forget me wherever you go. You have been my pillars in this large home of ours. Please keep checking on me because I may die of loneliness in the house.”

Curious as Aguti’s move is, it’s nothing new. Polyandry is a form of polygamy in which a woman takes two or more husbands at the same time. Polyandry is contrasted with polygyny, involving one male and two or more females.

It is practiced in various societies in India, such as Rajasthan, Ladakh and Zanskar, in the Jaunsar-Bawar region in Uttarakhand, among the Toda of South India.

It is practiced also in Nigeria among the Nymba, pre-contact Polynesian societies, Mosuo people in China and among the Maasai people in Kenya and Tanzania. In Uganda, polygamy is legal.

Investment / Should I Invest My 3000 Dollars Or Leave It To Appreciate (I Need Your Advice) by Emir8: 5:20am On Sep 14, 2021
Dear Nairalanders, I work with a foreign University online and I have been able to save 3,000.00 dollars. I'm planning to invest the money on consumable goods by opening a store (mini mall) and employ one or two people to manage it. But my sister advised me to leave the money in dollar currency and not engage in any business for now. Her reason is that dollar price will increase and I will gain more from that than any business.

Please what is your own advice?

Deeper High School has been on the news due to the molestation of Don Davies in its Akwa Campus. I went through the website of the school and the school fees is there. No doubt, DLHS is a standard school with high moral discipline. The students pay about 1.1 Million per session according to my calculation. You can also calculate it. See the pictures.

PayPal don't accept Nigerian so you have to open a Lesotho account if you don't have to verify your account via Atm before you use PayPal on any apps I would advise you not to stress yourself. I had challenges linking my Atm ,in my own case I was told someone already linked it to another account when I contacted PayPal and they promise to get back but I haven't hear from them, the second card is not even linking at all though the bank told me there was a previous one I need to deactivate which I never subscribe to, but it is working for other international transactions but I think Xoom would be helpful.

Thank you. I'm just hearing of the Xoom for the first time

Use Business PayPal and then use Xoom but it seems they don't pay directly into Naira account again so you would have to do cash pick up in the foreign currency at the Nigeria bank you choose by hand... Hope that help.

Thank you. I also have a dollar account. Can it be linked to paypal without ATM card?

Family / Court Dissolves Marriage In Bauchi Because The Husband Is Jobless (photos) by Emir8: 12:21pm On Dec 05, 2020
As reported by Aliyu Bashir Almusawi in a WhatsApp group:

"A court in Bauchi has dissolved a second marriage after the judge found out that the husband was jobless and it was the first wife, the mother of his five children who helped buy him Keke-Napep to earn a living only for the man to sell it, pay rent and marry another wife.

When he was pressed by journalists to explain his bizarre decision to add another wife even though he did not have the financial wherewithal to cater for his children, he simply replied that he was too virile to stay with one wife and it is Allah who will feed the family. And he did that to reduce the number of unmarried women in the north.

It is noteworthy that the man is staying in a congested family house where his three sons have to sleep with their friends somewhere. This man is not alone, there are thousands of people like him who think and behave this way.

The reasons given by that man are some of the lies that lead to reckless polygamy thereby breeding millions of uneducated children who grow up to pose serious threats to our national security. I have no problems with polygamy so long as a person can cater for the needs of his children such as shelter, feeding and education. But it does not make sense to marry when you are not ready to comply with the stringent responsibilities that come with it.

Politics / Re: Kano Sharia Police Bans ‘black Friday’, Says It’s ‘immoral' by Emir8: 12:31pm On Nov 27, 2020
Sokoto and Zamfara are more secular and tolerant than Kano. It is a shame on ONE NIGERIA that people do not have freedom of expression as regard their ideological and religious perspectives in certain part of the country. Cool FM should sue HISBA to court. For crying out loud, nobody ask muslims to call Friday Black. Those who believe in black Friday should not be denied their freedom of expression. Friday does not belong to muslims, it is just a day like any other in a week.

HISBA should go and attack banditry, terrorism, kidnapping and drug abuse ravaging the north before attacking a mere global nomenclature; BLACK FRIDAY. Even in Dubai, the black Friday sale advert is everywhere.

Family / Court Dissolves 10-year Old Marriage Over Marathon Sex, Alleged Money Ritual by Emir8: 2:01pm On Nov 24, 2020
A Mapo Customary Court in Ibadan, on Tuesday, dissolved a 10-year- old marriage between one Basirat Adeyoyin and estranged husband, Adeyoyin Niyi over an attempted money ritual and marathon sex.

Delivering judgment, the President of the court, Chief Ademola Odunade said that the court would not watch until there was anarchy before making the right decision.

Odunade, therefore, dissolved the union between Basirat and Niyi in the interest of peace and tranquility. He awarded custody of the two children produced by the union to the plaintiff and ordered the respondent to pay N10, 000 as the children’s monthly feeding allowance. The court also ordered Niyi to be responsible for their education and other welfare.

In her earlier account, Basirat, a resident of Olonsogo-Molete, told the court that she was calling it quits with her husband because “he was making a desperate effort to use her for money ritual’’. The businesswoman added that she first notice this when her husband did not show any regret after she lost her last pregnancy due to too many sexual activities with him. “Suddenly in 2018, Niyi came home one night and told me that he received a message that he must have seven-day marathon sex with me without a gap of any day. “I read no meaning to it and I allowed him until there was a problem. “I was already carrying a three-month-old pregnancy before that time and on the second day of the marathon sex, I lost the pregnancy. “I took care of myself in the hospital only for Niyi to come home to start requesting for the continuation of the seven-day marathon sex even when I was still bleeding.

“Then, I consulted my parents and relatives and from every indication, we discovered that he was trying to use me for money ritual,” Basirat said. Consenting to the suit, the respondent did not deny the allegation of the marathon sex but chose to raise new issues altogether. Niyi submitted that his wife was too troublesome for him and was a careless housewife.

“Even if this court would dissolve my marriage, I pray to be given custody of the two children because Basirat cannot take care of them. “One of the young boys in our neighbourhood raped our first child and she did not tell me about the incident.

“My lord, it was because she often overstays in the market that such a thing could happen,” Niyi added.
