the pair is very intentional in trying to fool traders.. I stopped trading it when I realized how manipulative it could be. dmahn: I used to think that after Entry, it's either Stop loss or Take profit
I learnt something new today on IG. 3 things are involved after entry and not just 2. The third one is Manual exit
Manual exit basically is an exception to the rules of TP or SL... You don't want to get trapped in a long range when price is just few pips away from your TP.... Or I need to unlearn what I just learnt? Please unlearn it ASAP, it's absolute disregard of your laid down trading rules which are meant to protect you (from yourself actually), so you don't do things like what you're considering now. I know that feeling, where the market messes with your emotions a the tip of your TP trying to make you break, but stick to your guns Sir, believe me it pays off eventually. (Later I would upload the chart of a GBPNZD short trade I recently traded as well as USDCAD shorts earlier; if I had snoozed, I would have lost a ton lot of profits). |

Want to just throw in a few cents here... I've never loved the idea of putting my fate in someone else's hands, so prop firms have never stuck with me, I think it's way better having complete autonomy over your trading account. I understand the idea of having a larger account for a smaller fee appeals a lot but let's look at it a little differently. So now what if you funded your own account, compounded the returns for some time to beef it up, then you can decide to either; increase your account size or use some of your profits to buy some good prop accounts where you won't feel like you're in a marathon due to the prop's imposed rules (you should be risking way less now cos you're not in a hurry to ace the challenge). I'm not against props (even though I don't use them), what I'm saying in essence is; have a backup! A backup where you own the rules. With that backup in place, rather than buy one prop account and risking 0.4-1% per trade, why not buy 3-5 accounts of same account size and risk maybe 0.1% per trade? (depending on your trading style sha). Keep in mind that a $100k prop account capped at -8% max drawdown is essentially an $8k account and meeting a +13% profit target on that $100k is $13k which is about a +163% profit on your net capital($8k), you do the math. So question is, how would you trade an $8k account? Forget the $100k figure, it's just a flavour, the net figures are what you follow. 4 Likes |

Sorry, I just couldn't help it; maybe you shouldn't fight the momentum you know, could be more profiting in the long run. Reading the bare price action there on your chart, it's clear that there's strong bearish momentum against the Metal, but you still took the opposite side, why Sir? If you don't mind me asking. I think it just like this EURCAD trade here by @dmahn Sir, I just wouldn't imagine him buying that price swing, not with all that bearish momentum. I'm only but a student; open to learning. 1 Like

PIPSMARSHALL: The END Phase 2. Max drawdown. Almost passed, Not happy but i'm back to the trenches. I wish but it is what it is. I blame myself because I didn't follow my rules squarly, I also blame eight cap broker for their nonsense candles. It's no excuse but when a trade gets stopped and moves in ur direction in more than 10 trades, its the broker and not the trader. Who blames d broker more than the losing trader? Profitable traders who know that the brokers are after their earned dollars. Or na me no dey set stoploss right. Anyhow sha.
I no sabi wetin dey rush me sha, I'm cool now tho. I'm a RICH trader and not a broke trader anymore. I have the skill, but it takes time to conquer greediness. Na my greed crash this challenge amd previous challenge. I have conquered greed, just that I didn't obey my lotsize rules and positions on this one.
I lacked patience, maybe because I got frustrated by the broker but I suppose maintain my cool since I know the brokers are after my money. Soon, man will get these pay checks steadily.
Unto the next As you were.

This simply means that the Forex market is controlled by the big banks, they move the market when it suits them, look at gbpusd and usdjpy, uj moved in intended direction but gu stalled in the new York kill zone They don't control it, atleast not anymore (most of 'em); they only have a bigger impact. |

Thanks for sharing your perspective! I agree that going against the crowd can be a viable strategy in trading. However, my trading approach involves a combination of factors, including sentiment, key levels, and areas of interest. While this week's bullish sentiment might suggest a long opportunity to some, I focus on my daily marked-up levels that guide my trades.
Connecting this to the weekly sentiment, I seek trades that align with both my daily setups and the overarching weekly sentiment on an asset. Last week's sentiment for GBP/USD was bearish, and trading in line with that sentiment would have led to favorable gains. Here's a screenshot attached, showing last week's sentiment for reference.
It is however worthy of a note that my sentimental strength meter on GBPUSD has a win rate of 65% so far this year. This further underscores the value of combining sentiment with other factors in my trading decisions.
May the pips be with us all. I think that's wonderful, your approach is definitely one to reckon and that's just the way I approach the markets too, except for the sentimental analytic aspect of course. Welldone! 1 Like |

The only warning here is her strong volatility can sent you parking to village so be careful trading it. For me as a swing trader, that volatility is a very good thing. dmahn: Willing to short GU at market price tommorow or wait for a little upward movement towards 1.27699 before shorting. Tp1@1.27000 ..TP 2@1.26476
Alternatively I've found an inverted head and shoulder pattern which looks like the bulls might come in at the left shoulder(Tp1 @ 1.27000)...But the H4 is still downtrend so the buy is a risky one. I will be buying if the low is taken out on a false breakout giving us a hammer candlestick.. Then I will go long and put Sl below the hammer low ![cool](https://www.nairaland.com/faces/cool.png) Umm...how do you make sense of your candlestick bodies (talking about the colours), won't they be sort of confusing or don't you consider closing prices?
