TV/Movies / How To Become A Nigerian Nollywood Actor OR Actress | See Full Guide Here by emmasolution: 11:35pm On May 28, 2017
Nollywood Industry | In this article, I want to explain the simple, easy and most realistic way of getting into the Nollywood and making a great career out of the Nigerian movie industry and probably become one of the household names in Nigeria soon.
Still, it is important that I warn you about the inherent danger associated with quests like this. While you go about looking for the phone numbers of actors and actresses to call to help you gain entry into Nollywood, fraudsters are aware of it and are capitalizing on this to give out fake numbers on various websites through which they defraud, rape or lure ladies into inhuman sexual activities. Even some of the actors themselves are said to have used the opportunity to take advantage of ladies too.

Granted, most of these girls who are desperately looking for breakthrough into the Nollywood are very much ready and interested in being exploited sexually as long as that helps them climb the Nollywood starship ladder. Some are said to have even sent their nude pictures to male celebrities actors in an effort to seduce them, hoping that will help them get a role in movies. This article may not be for these ones.

However, if you are looking for straight forward means to become a Nollywood actress or actor, pay attention to this post. The process is not difficult as long as you already have the talent because talent is what make a great star. Before we go into the details, let’s see what you stands to gain if you finally become a Nollywood star.

Earnings – The Nigerian Movie industry is the third biggest in the world. Therefore, one would expect the glamour and wealth that flows in Nollywood. Average Nigerian movie stars earn between N100,000 to N500,000 per role, while the big names in the industry earn between N1 million to N5 million depending on the name and the movie production budget.

If you earn N100,000 per role as a new and upcoming star and get ten roles in a year, that will amount to a whooping N1,000,000. Remember you are still upcoming, your earning is bound to grow even bigger as you grow bigger and more popularity. At the beginning, you should focus more on getting your roles right rather than the cash.

Apart from the take home from movie roles, the real money actually comes from products endorsements and contracts that will come your way when you become popular. Some popular stars are currently being signed up for products endorsement by some of the Telecom and other big companies in Nigeria. That is where the big bucks will come from.

Lifestyle – There is huge glamour and seemingly enjoyment going on in the entertainment industry all over the world. You will have the opportunity to attend some of the finest events in the country, travel to places, I mean some of the places you can only dream about now and get to meet great people in the society.

To most people, this aspect is the most attractive of it all. Red carpet events, awards, and other stuffs like that you used to watch on TV. You get to be in all of them and enjoy yourself to the fullest, at least as it seems.

Opportunity – Many celebrities have been able to get political appointments in their states or at the national level due to the popularity acquired through the entertainment industry. People get to see you perform on TV including government officials and policy makers and see what you are capable of doing through the way you act.

From there, you can land a political appointment which is a big deal in Nigeria considering the amount of money that is being shared in Government here. So, if political appointment or getting into politics in Nigeria is your dream, I must tell you that the easiest means of achieving it these days is through the Nollywood.

Health / 10 Easy And Natural Ways To Lower Blood Sugar Levels by emmasolution: 3:28pm On May 26, 2017
A high amount of sugar in the blood occur when your body cannot effectively and efficiently transport sugar from the bloodstream into the cells.

If left unchecked, this can lead to damage to vital organs of the body eventually resulting in diabetes.

Fortunately, there are some natural ways to bring down blood sugar levels without medication.

Easy and Natural Ways to Lower Blood Sugar Levels

There are different methods which you can use to determine your blood sugar level. But the easiest way is glucometer method.

You can determine your blood sugar level either in a fasted state or two hours after eating.

If you have a blood sugar level less than 100 mg/dL (5.6 mmol/L) after an eight-hour fast or less than 140 mg/dL (7.78 mmol/L) two hours after a meal, you are in the normal range.
If you have a blood sugar level of 126 mg/dL (7 mmol/L) or higher after an overnight fast, you have got high blood sugar.
A 2012 study reveals that about 29 million (12-14%) of US adults had type 2 diabetes, while about 86 million (37-38%) were classified as pre-diabetic (1).

However, it is very easy to reverse pre-diabetes, by finding natural ways to lower blood sugar level.

This article elucidates 10 easy and natural ways to lower blood sugar levels… just sit back and read on.

1. Cut your carb intake

If you really want to know how to lower your blood sugar naturally, then cut your carb intake once you know your blood sugar is high.

Your body breaks down carbohydrate into sugars (most preferred glucose), then insulin regulates the uptake of these sugars by the cells.

When your carb intake is too high or you have a problem with insulin function, this process fails and blood glucose levels rise.

So, the less sugar you consume, the smaller the metabolic response will be, thereby keeping your pancreas and insulin levels healthy.

However, there are several ways you can go about with this.

The American Diabetes Association (ADA) recommends controlling carb intake by counting carbs or using a food exchange system (2).

Some studies suggest that this method can help you plan your meals appropriately, which may further lower your blood sugar level (3, 4).

In addition, many studies suggest that a low-carb diet can help reduce blood sugar level and prevent sudden blood glucose spike (5, 6, 7).

A low-carb diet can prove much more effective in controlling blood sugar levels in the long run (cool.

2. Embrace foods with a low glycemic index

Embracing foods with a low glycemic index will help control blood sugar level.

What is Glycemic Index?

The Glycemic Index is a numerical Index that ranks carbohydrates based on their rate of . their conversion to glucose within the human body (9)

It was designed and developed to assess the body‘s blood sugar response to foods that contain carbohydrate.

The amount and type of carbohydrate determine the impact of a food on blood sugar levels. (10, 11).

Consuming low glycemic index foods has been shown to lower long-term blood sugar levels in type-1 and type-2 diabetics (12, 13).

While this is important, the number of carbs consumed should also be put into consideration (14, 15).

Foods with low glycemic index include but not limited to eggs, barley, legumes, corn, yams, meat, oats, lentils, sweet potatoes, seafood, fruits and non-starchy vegetables.

3. Get Regular Exercise

Getting regular exercise can help you lose weight and increase insulin sensitivity.

Increased insulin sensitivity means your cells response better to available sugar in your bloodstream.

Exercise also facilitates proper usage of blood sugar by muscle cells for energy and muscle contraction.

You can start with exercises like swimming, dancing, jogging, running, hiking, weight lifting, cycling or any other form of regular exercise.

This will help improve sugar metabolism and create long-lasting benefits to improve and maintain overall health.

Also, you should routinely check your blood sugar levels as this will help you respond to different activities and return your blood sugar level to normal (16).

4. Stay hydrated

Drinking plenty of water may help you maintain your blood sugar levels within the healthy normal range

In addition to that, it prevents dehydration, helps the kidney flush toxic waste through urine.

One study suggests that those who drank more water had a lower risk of developing high blood sugar levels (hyperglycemia) (17).

Frequent hydration rehydrates the blood, lowers blood sugar levels and reduces risk of diabetes (17, 18, 19)

So, to lower your blood sugar level, stay hydrated with water and other non-caloric beverages.

5. Control your stress levels

Chronic stress can have a serious effect on your blood sugar levels (20).

During stress, hormones such as cortisol and glucagon are secreted. These hormones can cause a spike in blood sugar levels (21, 22).

A 2003 study published in the Journal of Physical Therapy Science shows that exercise, relaxation, and meditation significantly reduced stress and postprandial blood sugar levels in students (23).

Relaxation methods like mindfulness-based stress reduction and exercise like yoga can also correct insulin problems in chronic diabetes (23, 24, 25).

6. Get more quality sleep

Getting quality sleep makes you feel great and is essential for good health (26).

Poor sleeping habits and restlessness can also have an effect on blood sugar levels and insulin sensitivity.

Poor sleeping habit can increase appetite and promote weight gain (27, 28).

Sleep deprivation increases cortisol levels and decreases the release of growth hormones. These two hormones play a vital role in blood sugar control (26, 29, 30).

In addition, sleep is all about quality and quantity. It is pertinent to get a good amount of high-quality sleep every night (28).

7. Try apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar with its numerous health benefits can help you lower your blood glucose levels.

It does this by promoting low fasting blood sugar levels, by decreasing sugar production by the liver or increasing its use by cells (31, 32, 33).

Numerous studies suggest that vinegar significantly influences the body’s response to sugars and improve insulin sensitivity (32, 34, 35, 36).

To benefit from this health benefit of apple cider vinegar.

Incorporate apple cider vinegar into your diet or mix 2 teaspoons in 8 ounces of water and drink daily.

However, it is necessary to consult with your doctor before taking apple cider vinegar if you are already on blood sugar lowering medications.

8. Increase your fiber intake

Fiber slows the rate of digestion and absorption of carbs. For this singular reason, it promotes gradual uptake of sugar into the bloodstream.

Although the type of fiber you eat is very important.

Basically, there are two types of fiber which are insoluble and soluble fiber.

While they are both important, soluble fiber has been specifically, has been shown to reduce blood glucose levels (37, 38).

In addition, a high-fiber diet can help in type 1 diabetes management by improving blood glucose levels (39).

Foods with high fiber content include vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and legumes.

9. Try fenugreek seeds

Fenugreek seeds are a rich source of soluble fiber which can help keep blood sugar levels in check

Many studies reveal that fenugreek can potently lower blood sugar level in a diabetic.

It also helps lower fasting blood sugar and improves glucose intolerance (40, 41, 42, 43).

Fenugreek seeds are being considered as one of the safest herbs for prevention of diabetes (42, 43).

10. Monitor your blood sugar levels

You cannot manage what you don’t measure or let me say what gets measured gets managed.

When you measure and monitor your blood glucose levels you can also effectively control them.

Keeping track will help you determine whether you need to adjust your meals or medications (44).

It will also help you determine how your body reacts to certain type of foods (45, 46).

Try measuring your blood sugar levels regularly and keep track of the numbers in a log.

Education / Higher Institution 2017/18 Admission Pattern by emmasolution: 1:39pm On May 23, 2017
In this article, I will be explaining in detail, how Higher Institution admission screening will be conducted for year 2017/2018 session. I will help you understand everything by making my explanations very simple – stay focus and follow me…

Universities 2017 Admission Pattern
Universities 2017 Admission Pattern | The Federal Government of Nigeria has scrap-off post UTME to the betterment of our student. Due to this fact, many candidate has been wondering how admission screening will be conducted this year.

The Former Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, NUC, Professor Peter Okebukola, has disclosed that the scrapping of Post-UTME means that tertiary institutions will now go back to the agreement NUC had with Vice-Chancellors in 2004 when it introduced Post-UTME which is to screen candidates on oral interview and written essay.

JAMB Official Cut-off Mark For All Schools 2017/18, Click:http://schoolinfo.com.ng/jamb-official-cut-off-mark-for-all-schools/

Admission Guide to All Tertiary Aspirants
The University senate now has autonomy to select candidates for admission. However the list of selected candidates must pass through JAMB for approval and issuance of admission letters.
Whether or not you were posted to a school or not for admission consideration earlier no longer matters. As the posting is no longer valid. All you need to do now is wait for your school of choice to announce its screening exercise and ensure you participate accordingly.
For Tertiary institutions that have already conducted their admission screening exercise in line with JAMB stipulations, such screening still remains valid. Candidates that participated in such screening should wait for the release of the admission list(s) by their respective institutions.

The withdrawal of the JAMB Consideration List does not mean that post-UTME is now valid. The ban on Post-UTME remains valid. Tertiary institutions must abide to the screening modalities as earlier announced by JAMB.
Candidates should note that the offer of provisional admission by their schools of choice is subject to validation by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
JAMB Proposed Modalities for Screening 2017
Screening of candidates shall be for ONLY candidates recommended for admissions.
No written examination to be conducted.
Verification of Course Requirements (O’ levels or A’ levels).
Verification of valid JAMB results by checking:
Online Result Slip
ii. Printout
iii. Photo Album
v. Checklist
vi. Biometrics
Institutions are free to source from other Course(s) to
compensate for SHORTFALL in any of the criteria.
How Admission will be conducted by JAMB
If the proposed modality for admission by JAMB is to be adopted for 2017 admission screening, below is how it will be conducted.

JAMB must offer a candidate an admission before such candidates qualifies for screening in the institution he or she has been provisionally admitted. This means that institutions can only screening candidates sent to them by JAMB as having been provisionally admitted in such institution.
Institutions admission screening processes will now be based on point system. The first on the point system is the O’level grading. Candidates who have only one O-level result will stand a better chance of gaining admission than candidates with 2 results. One 0’level result = 10marks/points while two O’level results = 3 marks/points.
Similarly, each grade will now have its equivalent points/marks in this manner; A=6 marks, B=4 marks, C=3 marks which means the having better grades in your O’level result gives you a better chance of securing admission.

Education / 5 Reading Skills To Boost Academic Achievement by emmasolution: 11:57am On May 11, 2017
Reading is the process by which, we interpret a symbol, sign or written languages through our mental processes with the aid of physical expression. Reading entails focusing on a particular page of a book, newspapers, magazines or any relevant materials, so as to derive necessary information.

As a student or candidate who is preparing for an examination, you need to focus on some key aspect of reading, so as to ensure an excellent academic performance. We do not read to derive pleasure alone, we read to learn, to understand, to source for information and to attempt examination question, so as to move to next educational level.

Following the under-listed methods to reduce irrelevant and meaningless time spent on a particular passage of a book.

1. Set Goals
One of the basic fundamentals of reading is to set a goal. This is the act of setting a standard and measuring its outcome. It is best for students to know the purpose of reading. If it is to read for fun or to pass an examination. Having a clear goal will help in maintaining a reading standard and it will improve their reading capacity.
