Just for the records, I will like to correct an impression. somebody said mech engineering is limited but that's not true. Globally mech engineering are hired most than other engineering profession though that does not mean that other engineering professions are not good. For instanst in the oil and gas industry where I work, a mechanical engineer can be : a subsea Engineer, Piping Design Engineer, HVAC Engineering, Rotatory/Static Equipment Engineer, Pipeline Engineer, QA/QC Engineer, Process Engineer, Package Engineer,Planning Engineer, Cost Engineer, Material Engineer, Corrosion Engineer etc. the list goes on .

Union Homes Savings and Loans Plc, recorded N1.06 billion as profit before tax in the year ended March 31, 2007, the company’s Chairman, Mr Bartholomew Bassey Ebong, has said.
Speaking at its 12th annual general meeting yesterday, Ebong said the company achieved impressive results for the year ended.
He put the company’s gross earnings at N8.3billion, while profit before tax was N1.06billion, representing an increase of 588 per cent over N154 million recorded in 2006, with total assets rising from N62 billion in 2006 to N69 billion in 2007, anincrease of 11 per cent.
The company, Ebong said, took a bold step to position itself in readiness for the expected capitalisation/consolidation in the mortgage banking industry by successfully undertaking a N5.4 billionrights issue of 3 billion ordinary shares at N1.80kper share.
“The benefits of the quotation of your company's shares also reflected in the shares marketprice,” he said, adding that renovation and sale of 1004 Housing Estate, Lagos, commenced during the period, as well as the renovation of Mulliner and Awolowo Road Towers, Ikoyi, Lagos, which are in progress.
“In our quest to maintain our leading position in the housing sector, the Company embarked on procurement of more properties for redesign and sale to grow our mortgage portfolio,” he said.
Mr. Ebong informed the shareholders that Union Homeslaunched three products namely; Uni-Trust SavingsAccount, Uni-Thrift Savings Account, which werefocused on the Nigerian Market; and the House-At-HomeScheme, which is aimed at providing homes in Nigeriafor Nigerians in diaspora. “The products and theirbenefits were successfully introduced to targetbeneficiaries”.He said the company actively participated in thegranting of mortgage loans to government workers whowere allotted their official residence for purchase bythe Federal Government under the government's housingmonetisation programme.
